  1. for copy work. We began after their handwriting instruction moved beyond letter formation and penmanship was nice enough. My two now copy a poem from H&LW into their copybooks and then use it for memory work. When they were little and still learning to write, their copy work was done in a handwriting workbook. Now copy work isn't daily work because they write so much across the curriculum. There is no one way to do copy work.
  2. and so are we. Dad is home, but reading quietly. I'm trying to speed things along to the finish line:D.
  3. as well as 100% cotton. Babies are especially hard to treat, and seem to be ultra sensitive once it starts. Using only sensitive skin products and cotton was what finally offered my little guy relief. This included soap, shampoo, wipes, laundry detergent, NO softener or dryer sheet, and cotton clothing, bedding etc. Be cautious when introducing new foods. Our ped. rec. waiting as long as possible. My ds is now 11 his sensitivity is much less now. I hope your little one finds some relief. Poor baby.
  4. I need to compile a working list of schools that offer part time and full time programs. I'd appreciate any info, first or second hand as well as places to look. tyia
  5. to preview it. My teen and are are reading P&P. I think she may be hooked on Jane Austen and want to find ways to further her enjoyment. I had completely forgotten the show was on and had to figure out which book/story I was watching because I tuned in little late. Much better than last weeks version. I'll have my teen watch another P&P version.
  6. this new format will lead to less time spent scrolling around. That could be a good thing, I think..;) I am happy so many jumped over and we over ran the new server. LoL. I guess that is just me being silly. OK...The server is too busy...I don't love this...:(
  7. I'd like to drive one of those little Bobcat bulldozers just once:confused:. How stupid is that.
  8. There is no one answer, but following your instinct is a good idea. Has he done daily copy work? Do the reversals appear when he is focusing on a clear model?
  9. This has to be my third or fourth time reading through it, but it's fun comparing notes with her. She (my teen) is in love with Mr. Darcy. We will be watching the BBC version soon. I just know it.
  10. I grade while they work. Goal one in grading here is to always have it done before they begin the next day. I can't stand letting it pile up. Qualifier...We were required in our former state to turn in grades and that helped me develop the grading habit. Although, I don't love it getting it done feels better than dreading it. I also love using rubrics for written assignments.
  11. It looks like, art, a vase of flowers and books all in one.:D
  12. I'm so happy and hopeful to have a better, safer place to look for and and sell used curriculum again. How do you all feel about it. Will you use?
  13. If you don't, I'd be happy to send some of our snow your way. We have a ton of it, but my kids still love it.
  14. Yesterday, I went out to shovel some snow and came in to find this. Change is good once you get used to it. And the edit feature....
  15. We are focusing on test skills, standardized test taking, writing, reading quickly, note taking and outlining this year. And another big focus for my dd is time management. I'm amazed at her growth across the spectrum this year. Jean in Wisconsin. :) your posts are always so encouraging and packed with useful ideas. Thanks. I'm still nervous about high school, but not overwhelmed.
  16. and focus on writing. You could take the month or a few days a week and work on those skills. The pay off once the skills are firmly cemented will carry over into all his assignments and last a life time. I don't think the curriculum choice matters, just the writing process.
  17. The actual temp is only -10.8', but the windchill is crazy cold. So, we are indoors. Dh is looking forward to tomorrow...The big Football game in Green Bay.:D I'll be cooking and decluttering or curled up with a good book & coco.
  18. Now, don't do that. You'll just get more or worse yet, they wont grow back at all. Embrace them or color them. But, sisters...Do not pluck them.
  19. I'm going to choose the one with the wooded lot. We bought a big home with a nice sized yard, but woods to play or walk in would be a daily blessing. Your 15 year old wont be home forever. Is he taking good meds? And I'm probably mixing up my posters, but is he going away to school this fall? Any space would be better than a little apartment with a teen.:) In all honesty I'd choose a home that will meet all your needs, not just his. I'm hoping you find your home sweet home soon.
  20. My dh wants homemade pizza, salad, and the works. I'll likely do chili today with cornbread, because it is so cold here.
  21. I went out to shovel snow and Shazam! This should be fun:rolleyes:
