  1. Just wanted to reply again to the op that by me saying I don't care what people think of how I look I wasn't saying that you cared more than you did about your son. After re-reading my post I should have worded that differently. I'm just not one of those that worries if I answer the door in my plaid pants (they are cotton lounge ones yes you buy them in the jammie dept but they are cute) and a solid color tshirt. I do wash my hair daily as other wise it bothers me but it's longer (about 2 inches past shoulders) so I only dry the bangs and I have a slight wave (that natural and a pain sometimes) so it looks ok if the rest airdrys. I have never found a makeup that didn't make me inch and feel like it wasn't caked on and I even tried bare minerals, better but still not comfortable for me to wear everyday. I guess I'm just comfortable with myself and my dh likes me this way to, if I'm all dressed up when he gets home (anything more than jeans and a tshirt) he thinks something's up :p
  2. 1. That we're halfway through the time my dh is gone (only one week to go this time was a short one) 2. That my ds is loving his new Teaching Textbooks math (math is FUN now) 3. Giggling with my 3 kids while we celebrated finishing homeschool PE at Red Robin for lunch.
  3. Heck no! I never wear make up but the extent of me drying my hair is to dry my bangs only the rest just air drys. I have plaid "lounge" pants and solid color tshirts I wear around the house. If I have to go out I'll throw on some jeans but if it's an emergency I could really care less. Not sure what it is with my personality but I've gotten to the point where I really don't care what anyone thinks of how I look. I don't approve of many of the things people wear now a days when they do "dress up" anyhow.
  4. I finally got all the pictures off my camera of this weeks work so our review is finally up. I also finally managed to make a signature that sits on top of my background like I actually signed the post instead of just a picture of a signature. My blog addy is in my signature below

  6. I don't have anything to suggest as my kids are currently 3rd grade and 1st grade, but I feel your pain. We will be using R.E.A.L. life level 1 this fall and will do earth/space the following year. I'm just hoping that padia press will be able to find a new writer to put out some other books by the time I need them. My list of requirements is identical to yours so if you don't mind would you keep us posted if you find something that fits and you enjoy.
  7. Claussen Dills from the refrigerated case. Those are the only one's I buy
  8. Ugh, I say good riddence. I grew up in Milwaukee and could never stand the guy. To much "Look at me, look what I did, never mind the other guys on the field"
  9. We hang our coats on that and my dh keeps his wallet and keys on top of it. There is also a small "telephone" table/plant stand thing next to the stairs and that's where I put my purse and keys. They are right by the front door so it's convienient.
  10. UGH, I wish I had more options than we do. I just went shopping yesterday and the produce looked awful so I didn't want to buy to much and waste money because it went bad in the next couple days. Here's what we got No fresh veggies they go bad to quickly for us. Frozen veggies broccoli cauliflower We do green beans and corn canned, that's the only way my kids will eat them. Frozen Fruit strawberries cherries Fresh Fruit Apples (granny smith and gala) My dd just brought me one this morning and said "mommy in school kids give apples to their favorite teacher so here's one for my favorite teacher" LOL Grapes Bananas oranges pluots ( I love these) we also love to get fresh strawberries and raspberries, pineapple, and melons when they are more in season.
  11. Ellie, Thanks for this I have wanted to make some but had no starter and didn't know how to go about making my own.
  12. Lori, LOL I actually posted the same thing when you did, so I moved mine here since others had already posted to it. I'm actually ahead of the game after failing to report last week due to visiting parents. I also put up my pictures of the curriculum we'll be using next year so you'll have to scroll down past that for the weekly report. Link should be in siggy.
  13. I collect Elephant knick-knacks. I started when I was in High School and it's grown and grown. My bro will just send me one out of the blue if he's out and sees one, my dh also buys me 1 or 2 every time he goes on deployment, so I have them from all over the world.
  14. I own exactly 10 reusable bags and yep I take them all, all the time when I go. We're only a family of 5 so they may not use them all but I take them just in case there is an unadvertised sale and I need to stock up on something.
  15. I watch and I recently saw the family on Oprah. They mentioned the whole reason they did the first special was because they literally had people trying to peek in the windows wanting to see what they did and how they handled things. I don't think they are exploiting the kids. They seem like a very nice, normal loving family.
  16. I have a 3 year old pug named Festis and he never had any eye issues. He's a real sweetie. He's my shadow. I think the eyepopping thing is really rare.
  17. I got a 157.5 but I am a big 80's music buff and my dh calls me "A fountain of useless 80's knowledge" LOL I then took the 90's quiz and got an 11
  18. I have "non-branded" reusable bags but I used to have some with a stores name on them. I took them everywhere and the only comment I usually got is because they thought I was a Loon for bring my own bags :p I now use my non labeled bags that I got from reusablebags.com (got them because I wore my other ones out and these are workhorses) and I even take them to Walmart, they really don't like me because of their turntable deal someone mentioned but oh well tough. If they don't like my bags then I'll take my business elsewhere and I have. I had one cashier complain so much halfway through my order (which was about $150 by then) I told her you know what just void this out and I'll unpack it all and go somewhere that they appreciate my business. The manager was steamed too but maybe they should teach their cashiers to not complain under their breath about things. I was after all helping by having her set the things on top of the turntable and I was packing them. I've also taken them to target and I always offer to pack them myself it's a hassle. The more natural food stores I've gone to love them, and the biggest lover of my bags is the Military Commissary the baggers their love them because they are as large a paper grocery bag but 3-4 times a strong so they can really pack them full. I say Go forth and be PROUD of your reusable bags! :D
  19. I don't use shout but I do use other stain removers and never had a problem. I have had my LG HE washer for 4 years now and the only thing I make sure of is that I'm using an HE detergent and don't use too much. Even though TIDE (which I don't use) would have you use much more it only take 1oz of detergent to clean a load of laundry here. I have 3 kids ages 8, 6 and 2.5 and the little one can make one dirty load of duds :p
  20. Looks good to me. I'm currently using GWG 3 with my son whos in 3rd and he loves it. We just started but he can't get enough :D I'm also planning on using R.E.A.L. Science life level 1 next year as well. My kids will be in 4th (turns 9 in may) and 1st/2nd (turns 7 in Nov) I've also got a younger who will most likely start working on learning letters, he'll be 3 in July but always wants to "do school" Looks like you have a great mix of things there
  21. We too are tax refund curriculum buyers. We actually set aside a "school budget" each year and I have a seperate checking account that is only for school purchases. I usually start a list of what I'd like to use for the following year in Nov/Dec and then keep adjusting and tweaking it until Feb. Then once the refund comes and the budget is deposited I start purchasing. I'm not a big used buyer though so I've usually by this time searched out which place has the best price. I've been burned too many times on used purchases which is why I'm a buyer of only new things unless I can see the used copy with my own 2 eyes. This year I was able to do that with a few things because I live near a pretty decent sized used curriculum store. I actually just put all my orders in this past week. Part of that was due to making my own Early American History curriculum for next year. We'll only Native Americans until the French and Indian War but then I'll make 2 more years of curriculum up for the rest of American History Revolution- Present time. I say now is a good time to start looking as many people are close to wraping some things up and starting to sell.
  22. I don't keep track of weeks specifically just days which I only know because we use a 100 chart to help my youngers with their counting skills LOL We had illness in Sept (missed last 2 weeks) moved to another state in Oct (took off the whole month we're military so I build this into our schedule the best we can) Nov we were still getting settled so we missed most of it. Dec we took off half of for the holidays. We just took this last week off because my parents were coming to visit for the week and we'd be going strong since Jan 2nd. We'll finish our year by the end of May and just pick up anything we haven't finished the beginning of next year. As long as my kids pass their Cat-E's so the state of VA is happy I'm happy. I'm sure they are more than prepared to take them now but we'll wait another month or so before we take them.
  23. Graduated PS high school in 92, got my Clerical Clerk Coordinator (Hospital Unit Secretary) Certificate in 96, Got married in 97, got my medical transcription certificate in 97. I've not worked outside the home since getting married other than a short stent with Pampered Chef. I have no desire to go back to college. I'm happy as a homemaker, wife and mother that's what I really always wanted to do and found a wonderful man that's loves that I always wanted to do it.
