  1. Has anyone successfully combined Singapore's Discovering Mathematics 2 and Foerster's Algebra I? My daughter loves DM (although we both get frustrated at times with the more challenging problems...) but I'd like her to work through a traditional algebra program since we're considering sending her to high school next year. (I want to make sure she's covered all of the algebra topics she'll need.) If we could combine DM and Foerster, we'd both be happy:001_smile:! Thanks, Melissa
  2. I can't believe we missed that one... Thanks for your help! Melissa
  3. Hi, My daughter is working through the ITBS 8 Test Prep book and we're stumped on this sentence. The delivery truck came to a stop in front of the Noonan's house. The driver delivered a huge package. The Teacher's guide says the error is in the second line. If someone could tell me what's wrong I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! Melissa
  4. Oh my goodness! Thank you for explaining the error. (Looks like we need to do grammar (in addition to math) this summer;) Melissa
  5. Hi, My daughter is working through the ITBS 8 Scoring High Test Prep book and we're stumped on the following Usage question: Even though I am much taller than Warren, he can jump higher than me when we play basketball. According to the Teacher's Edition, there is a mistake in the third line. If anyone can tell me what's wrong with this sentence, I would appreciate it! Thanks, Melissa
  6. Thank you! That helps a lot. I'm glad to hear that the program helps with retention (not regurgitation.) And I'm actually looking forward to clean, uncluttered pages (too many pictures, side bars, etc is just distracting!) Thanks again for replying. One more question - if I'm remembering correctly, OM usually has a sale in the spring. Would you happen to know when that will be? Thanks!
  7. I would love to hear any thoughts on Oak Meadow Physical Science program. My 13 year old daughter will complete Singapore Interactive Science A in a few weeks, and she's not interested in doing B (not enough doable experiments, too many gaps between the information in the textbook and what is expected in the Workbook, etc.) Any thought are appreciated! Thanks! Melissa
  8. Bumping this, and adding some questions... MomOfOneFunOne - Just wondering if you've had a chance to look at Warriner's. I'm also looking to purchase the best grammar reference, and all of the copies in my local library are checked out. I have the R&S Handbook, but it doesn't seem to go into detail for some of the things I've looked up recently (although the info is in the textbook..) I'm considering the CLE Handbook, since we'll be using CLE 7 or 8 next year. Have you seen this one or heard anything about it? Just curious...
  9. Thanks everyone! (I didn't know about the placement tests...)
  10. My daughter will finish CLE 6 this spring. She'll be in 8th grade next year. Would it be horrible if we skipped CLE 7? Is there enough review in CLE 8 to cover what she needs from 7? She actually likes grammar, and retains it well, if that would make a difference. (I wouldn't normally consider skipping a level ,but my daughter is expressing an interest in going to a traditional school for high school, so I want her to get as much intense grammar as she can before she goes...) Thanks! Melissa
  11. My 7th grader is doing well with Latin Alive. After the first few chapters it does move fast, so being diligent about practicing the new conjugations, declensions, and vocab is really important. (This practice is not part of the exercises in the Student Book, but there are conj/decl sheets available in the TG for you to copy and use. We practice declining and conjugating daily.) I'm doing the program along with my daughter, but she could handle it on her own. She likes the DVD lessons, and she rarely has a problem completing the exercises. We check her work right after she completes it (using the teacher guide.) It works well this way - if anything is incorrect, she can immediately figure out what she did wrong. Also, the yahoo group is great. Karen Moore (the author of LA) will respond very quickly to any questions that you may have. HTH, Melissa
  12. Hi, This is a bump. I asked the same "VfCR review" question and haven't gotten any responses. Did you happen to discover anything that looks like it will work? (My daughter wants some sort of quick daily worksheet-with variety:001_smile:- that cycles through the roots and prefixes she's covered.) I'm hoping someone's already got a review system that they'll share... Thanks, Melissa
  13. I tried to send an email to helpdesk@knowledgequestmaps.com, requesting that they create a guide for the Human Odyssey, but their mailbox is full. By any chance have you heard back from them?
  14. We've completed VfCR 4, 5 and 6 and will do A this year. Does anyone have a method or system of reviewing the roots covered in previous books? (The student books have review every so often, but they only relate to the lessons immediately preceding the review.) Any thoughts would be great. Thanks! Melissa
