  1. Got it! Thank you so much! That would work well. I really appreciate your input!
  2. Thank you so much Calming Tea. Do you mean a separate School Profile? I do have a complete School profile, also separated by school year and grades documenting all books and the curriculum used each year. I guess I am a little confused about what you are suggesting would "look like" ( I know where the art gene in my dd comes from ? ) According to my by-laws I can use appropriate high school classes taken in 8th grade so she has all credits and academic requirements to graduate. I was just trying to see if I could reorganize it so that it didn't look as if she has a big blank space for year 12.
  3. Help! I need the expertise offered here regarding my dd transcript. She was very motivated to finish her coursework early (in three years rather than four) in anticipation of her college auditions taking place in her senior year. She has since decided that she no longer wants to audition and would like to apply to an art and design school. The school has rolling admission so she can still apply but I now have a transcript with a blank 12th-grade year. I was planning on having her do her last year of classes using the Early College program at U of A so that she could start working on Gen Ed. Req. (which we will still do as a backup if she does not get in) but I want to present her transcript in a way that won't hurt her chances of admission. I am not sure how to build an alternative transcript or if I want to do that because I try to stay fairly traditional as I am an accredited homeschool. Any advice you could offer would be GREATLY appreciated! VPA no name copy.docx
  4. Hi there, I am in need of advice for helping my daughter understand Geometry proofs. She has been using Math Relief and we have been some what happy with it however the proofs are giving her some trouble. Does anyone have advise on a supplement to use to help her understand this concept or should I switch over to Teaching Textbooks Geometry and try to pick up where we are leaving off? Any advice on how to help her would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  5. My dd took APLANG with Ms Serbiki from PAHS last year and loved it! She received a 5 on her exam. There was a lot of prep built in and they prepared for a few weeks before the exam also. Of course my dd did study on her own but we felt that she was adequately prepared for the exam.
  6. Hi, I am researching Spanish curriculum options for my Sopomore student. She is currently enrolled in the OSU online spanish 3 and we are considering making a change. Any suggestions or ideas? We need an NCAA approved course. Thanks for your help.
  7. I am asking if anyone can help me with the information on where to subscribe to an educational DVD subscription? I thought that I had read that there is a subscription to a service that houses tons of educational dvds to watch. Can anyone provide me with a contact for this??? Thank you so much!
  8. Hi, I am trying to plan out my daughters AP classes for next year and was wondering if anyone has experience with Aventa classes. They are being offered through our States Virtual School. right Now my DD is in an AP class through Penn HS and I am happy with the class. Any thoughts???? Thank you.:bigear:
  9. Thank you so much for the reassurance that I have not screwed up my dd's HS Education.:001_smile: You have given me great suggestions and I feel better and more confident moving forward. Thanks
  10. Floridalisa, thank you for your response. Yes it was PA Homeschoolers and I am glad that you felt the Human Geography class was a good fit for the 9th grade. As far as Bio is concerned. I have heard on this forum that Bio taken in the 8th grade will not be accepted for credit, even if it was the Apologia Bio class w/Lab. How would you handle this? Should I have my dd retake Bio or do an ADV. Bio class and put that on the transcript? I fear that her interest in Bio, and my having her take the class early has been a mistake.
  11. Hi All! I am hoping that you experienced HS moms can help me. I have two questions as I plan my dd's HS. the first is Science related. She took Apologia Biology this year (8th grade) and loved it. I am not sure whether to move her into Chemistry next year. She will be continuing her Algebra 1 Class over the summer so I think she will be able to do the math involved. I just want to be sure of which direction to go after that. My thoughts were Biology (8) Chemistry (9) Physics (10) Marine Bio or AP Science class (11) then ? Any help you have would be greatly appreciated. Then on to my next question. My daughter loves reading. I thought about having her read through the SL core 200 But she doesn't really want to do Church History. I have entertained the idea of doing the AP Human Geography class through PHS but havent had any experience with that. I dont really want to put too much pressure on my dd in 9th as the work load increases. But I am not sure which direction to take with history. My thoughts for History were AP Human Geography or some other World Geography course (need Recommendations) (9) European Hist (10) Am. history (11) civics/ Gov. Econ(12) I would plan Lit to cordinate with history. I love the WTM method of doing History but My dd has done the rotation twice now and wants to move into a different direction. Any help and Ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks!!!
  12. Thanks for all of your input. SIW is Student Intensive Writing From IEW. I may not have the abreviation exactly right, though. I do appreciate all of the help.
  13. I was just wondering if I could get feed back as to whether you need to use both FLL and WWE. Do you find that it is too much writing? I am considering this combo for my 3rd grader. We use IEW now and I could just use FLL and IEW SIW A. Any thoughts? Thanks:bigear:
