Rural Texas here. We had to get a permit for the septic system and a engineer had to approve the roof (that was more for wind storm insurance though) and that's it. Our lack of permits completely blew a couple of people's minds. When we were building the insurance company couldn't believe we didn't need permits or that there were fire hydrants around. Took about three phone calls before they believed us. Or just gave up. Also when we bought the land there was an older brick home on the property. Our mortgage company wouldn't lend us the money with another home on e property so DH just pulled it down with his tractor. My uncle from Washington couldn't believe that he could just do that. "You just demolished it? Without approval?!?" DH-"it's my land I'll do what I want."

So suppose someone is watching your kids while you're at the doctors. Do you go out to eat after? Or come straight home? Add in an hour drive each way to the total time you're gone as well if that makes a difference.

Grin, you probably don't want to hear this but monkey bars, trampolines and 4 wheelers are paying for my kids' college education!!!! ( He treats TONS of those injuries.) I would avoid the monkey bars. However, if not, I thank you in advance for your contribution to my children's education!
When ds broke his arm, every single dr asked "monkey bars?" First thing out of their mouths. I'm now rather hesitant about them.

My last three I got sick with milk only. I just switched to rice or soy and was fine.

Still need to talk to the director, but I was told it was a weekly fee. Tshirts, insurance, membership, I'd be fine with. Not so much paying to have my daughter work there.

Does anyone else think this is dumb? Dd is volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club now. She did it a little during the summer, but wanted to continue through the school year. They were ecstatic. I drop her off and they tell me it'll be $20. Um, what? Yeah because she's under 18 she has to pay. I'm waiting to talk to the actual director (who had mentioned trying to arrange the budget to pay dd) to find out more information. How is that not ridiculous? Needless to say, dd is very upset, but no way are we paying for it.

Spanish 4 should be more of a literature class. I don't know about a program, but I would move her towards that direction.

Did your DH run heating and air out there? How do you keep it adequately heated and cooled with the garage door still there? most of them are fairly thin.
I have begged DH to do this in our 2nd garage, but he is certain that we would need a new wall there and heating and air run out there and it would be more $$ than I think it would be.

Our contractor told us to cut the board insulation (versus the roll) and put it in each individual frame of the doors behind the roller equipment. We haven't done it yet, but it should help a lot.
I love your room. One of these days I'll get our room set back up.

DS6 broke his right arm 2 months ago. He was right handed, but handled it like a pro. He did pretty well using his left hand, but now that the cast is finally off he still doesn't want to use his right hand. We're in the beginning stages of writing so his left and right hand writing looks the same. Do I push for him to return to his right hand, let him use his left, encourage ambidextrous? Before this he most definitely was right handed, I just remember stories of my grandmother being forced into right handed writing.

I really liked it, but I only have a iPad so I quit using it. It was just too difficult to fill in without a computer. Even using my bluetooth keyboard.

I plan my individual classes specifically, but I leave the daily plan non-existent. I know I need to do in math page 83, then 84, then 85-86, etc. But I don't fill in the weekly plan until that week. That way when something comes up and we need to reschedule a class, it doesn't mess up everything else. This way I know how we are doing as far as getting the book done and if I need to skip or combine some lessons to finish.

My DD went to that EFY in San Antonio. It's her second year and it's all she can talk about for a long time afterwards. It's expensive, but it's something we save for because we think it's important. She just talks and talks and talks about the different speakers and everything that happens there. They started after me, but my three younger brothers went and all had a blast.

Dd once started crying at church because they tried to give her beer. It took awhile for us to convince her that root beer didn't have any alcohol in it and was ok for her to have. She was 4/5.

I no longer have access, but i believe this is how you do it.
On your main page, under home-->my teacher resources-->science all grade levels click on teacher resources. There's a popup. On the pop up, in the individual chapters there's an arrow to click that will get you more information. I think one of them is for labs and one is for worksheets.

I always had to memorize every form. Whether or not you could conjugate was actually one of the things on the test. So a cheat sheet is counterintuiutive to me.I think the only way to get fluent in them is lots and lots of practice. If nothing else, have him do flash cards.

Online or texts that you're aware of? I'm having a difficult time finding any. I know it's not a typical high school course, but dd has requested it. I never took it so I have no previous knowledge of what's in the course. Preferably cultural, from what I can figure out.

My local library doesn't let us renew online or over the phone. I have to physically take the books in to renew them. It's a massive pain and I've pretty much given up going to them. There's two other library systems within 30 minutes.

Digital Theatre Plus. DD really *loved* the performance of Much Ado About Nothing. We're going to add in some more Shakespeare just to see more *plays* versus the films.
