  1. Wow, I'd never heard of it before, don't know how I ended up on their site but I'm glad I did. Thanks for the reviews. I'm definitely gonna have to try it. Anyone tried deyhdrated cheddar cheese in casseroles? Do you have to rehydrate it?
  2. Thanks Meggie for the links, I'm inspired! Looks like a great summer project for me. Can't wait to get that organized!
  3. Just came across a site called Shelf Reliance, love the shelves for storing the big #10 cans. That got me thinking that it would really be great, since I hate to go to the grocery & I like the idea of buying in bulk, to fill my pantry w/ #10 cans & actually use their contents daily. I know we would use large quantities of oatmeal & rice. Does anyone use freeze dryed fruits & vegetables in recipes? Anyone ever tasted the "THRIVE" brand at Shelf Reliance? Wonder if there are any non GMO and organic brands? Even though the "idea" sounds good to me it might be more cooking intensive which does not interest me. Any thoughts?
  4. For next year's history (6th grade boy & girl) we plan to do SOTW Ancient History 1/2 of the year & American History the other 1/2. My problem is I don't know which spine to choose for Am. History... 1) The Story of the 13 Colonies & The Story of the Great Republic by Geurber (I'm only familiar with The Story of the Ancient World & I really loved it) 2) America's Providential History (used in Beautiful Feet) 3) The Light & the Glory & From Sea to Sining Sea Don't really know much about the latter two choices, guess that's why I can't seem to make a decision! Anyone have an opinion? Also, is there a schedule anywhere for doing SOTW 1 in 1/2 a year? Thanks!

  6. I think my son would like the comic book, but I want the Beth Moore book! Something in the middle would probably be just right. Maybe I'll get the Beth Moore book & highlight the key items from each chapter??? Thanks for all of the suggestions.
  7. Kind of looking for one that focuses on him as a missionary & includes geography. Maybe a narrative of his life? A timeline would be nice also.
  8. I had two children, a boy & girl, 9 months apart. Here are some things we loved. Rod & Staff A-B-C series. My Father's World Kindergarten from A to Z worksheets. We also enjoyed the Before Five in a Row books & I taught them the phonogram sounds. Enjoy them, the time flies so fast!
  9. I'm having trouble telling anything about different kindle editions & where they came from...I've been mainly looking at the free classics on Amazon. Is there a way to make sure you are getting unabridged versions?
  10. Hi! Can someone recommend a movie version of Oliver Twist that stays close to the original. I'm looking for one that would be appropriate for 8 & 9 year olds? Has anyone seen the 1985 BBC version? Thanks!
  11. We did the 1st edition Wordly Wise A & loved the simplicity of it. I keep looking at the new editions & it looks like so much more work. Did anyone else decide to stick with the first edition over the new improved 2nd edition? What am I missing? Thanks, Angela
  12. Sure you will get a wide variety of ideas but how about The Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith. Read this book a couple of years ago and still have fond memories.
  13. We have a lake, but it is usually my daughter who is out there fishing or catching frogs!
  14. "The Dangerous Book for Boys"...this looks interesting! Thanks for mentioning it, I had never heard of it, just put it on my Amazon wish list.
  15. My daughter (8) is taking an American Girl history class w/ a friend. Usually my son & daughter do everything together, so this gives me an opportunity to do something special with my 7 year old son. Any ideas of what that could be? Something that boys would love.
  16. Wonderful, we just moved and don't have a post office near, didn't realize how spoiled I was. Thanks for all of the help!
  17. Thanks for all of the replies & especially the kitchen scale tip! One last question...after I print the label & place it on the package can I just mail it from my mailbox?
  18. I've never shipped through paypal. Does it cost extra? Do you have to have a postal scale? Thanks!
  19. Maybe you could work out some kind of permanent house swap deal. Have you checked out GoSwap.org? Not sure where your house is located but there are some listings in Pittsburg.
