  1. Dh has a strong possibility for a job offer exactly where we want to be. They're talking money now and have agreed to come up to what he wants/needs. That has been our big happy this week.
  2. Oooh!!!!!! Thanks for sharing the theory thread, Clarkacademy!!!!!!! That would be quite a story line if Anastasia turned out to be an evil stepsister who then becomes the Red Queen. I would like that so much better than a Disney version of the Russian Anastasia.
  3. Thank you. I do know of the real life Anastasia, but I did not know Disney did something with her story. I can't imagine what on earth they did with her? Ick! Certainly not a happy ending there.
  4. Silvermist is one of the Disney fairies. I don't know if she's in any of the old fairy tales or not. Some of the other fairies in Silvermist's realm are Vidia (a troublemaker and dd's absolute favorite - yikes!), Rosetta, Fawn, Iridessa, and Tink. Oh, if it matters, Silvermist is a water fairy.
  5. DD and I watched. I also knew Silvermist was going to throw him in the water. : ) Speaking of Silvermist, dd was thrilled she was in it! She went through a fairy phase a couple of years ago, and Silvermist was one of her favorites. I called the Mock Turtle, too. I didn't call it until it threw them in the water, but as soon as that happened, I knew what it was. I agree with you on the Queen. I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt last show, but there's just something about her. Dh walked in when the origami bird message came to Alice. He wants some of that magic paper. : ) So who is Knave's Anastasia? I cannot recall a fairy tale character with that name. What do I need to go read now? I am ticked at the White Rabbit. What a weasel!
  6. DH is my real life Westley. He "As You Wish-es" me all the time. I guess if he ever stops, I know we're in big trouble.
  7. One of the greatest movies of all time. We all love it and quote from it at least weekly. I must watch it again now! Hmmm . . . what to do? Film studies or math? Film studies is an acceptable course for 4th grade, right? ; )
  8. Yikes. If it's the time slot, I hope they consider adjusting that. I'd be happy with a Sunday night marathon of fairy tale characters. I didn't think I'd like Wonderland, but I really do and would hate to see it canceled.
  9. No one can fault you for a lack of passion and enthusiasm. : ) At any rate, it will be fun to see it all unfold, and thanks to you, we get to hash it all out each week. ; ) You rock!
  10. I love neatly tied up happy endings, so I'm all for Regina and Robin finding their happily ever after with each other. I'm afraid accepting that resolution would require a decent amount of suspension of disbelief, though. ; ) I could see Tink and Hook ending up together. The Rebel Fairy and the gorgeous Bad Boy. That would work for me. It sounds like they share a bit of a past. I'm not holding out for Hook and Emma. I think Henry needs his parents to be together.
  11. Dd and I watched. We weren't sure we'd like it, but we loved it!!!! I think Cyrus will be my Hook in this series. Alice has good taste! : ) Like others, I'm excited about Jafar being a character. Dd and I were intrigued by the Queen's castle, too. I'm glad Alice is out of that horrible asylum and hope she never goes back. When she busted out, dd commented that Alice is her kind of girl. I love the wishes hidden in the boots. That was fun, and I'm soooooooo glad Knave came back and returned them. Looking forward to TH nights! Dh is bummed he didn't see it, so we'll have to watch it again on Hulu to catch him up.
  12. I miss Space Food sticks. I loved peanut butter, but chocolate was good, too. I was very young when I last had them, so maybe I'd think they're gross now, but I remember really liking them way back when. Dh and I both miss Eagle Brand's chocolate sweetened condensed milk. He made fab chocolate pumpkin pies with it. We only saw it on shelves for a couple of years, though. I agree with mimeographs. I was the weird kid who always sniffed her worksheets. Maybe that's why my memory is shot these days. Hmmm . . . ETA: Green Stamps!!!!! I LOVED getting green stamps at the grocery store, sticking them in their books, and looking through the catalog of stuff. As a kid, I thought that was the coolest thing ever - collect stamps and get stuff! So much fun! : ).
  13. We've bought the Target AG-sized clothes and feel they are not very well made. I've had better luck buying handmade doll clothing on Ebay. I've purchased some beautiful historical clothing sets for between $11 and $15 a set. Shipping costs were reasonable, too, and the quality was so much better.
  14. Dd asked for crutches for Christmas last year. A friend of ours found a pair for her at a thrift store, so they did end up under the tree. She still plays with those things. A wheelchair and a heated massage table were also on the list, but those didn't make the cut. I can kind of see the attraction to a heated massage table, but I am not sure what to think of the medical equipment obsession.
  15. Yes, the thought has crossed my mind. I really hope they don't do that. I want a quickly wrapped up, justice is served resolution to this. Thoughts that might give too much away, so highlight if you wish to read on: Even though I could tell the guy was bad news, I didn't think Downton was going there. I really, really thought Bates would come looking for Anna just in the nick of time and toss the slimeball out on his butt.
  16. This latest episode left me horrified and sickened. I wish the writers hadn't gone there. Also, I cannot stand the new lady's maid (why, oh why did they bring her back?! ick!) and wish Branson would stay far, far away from her. There's a lot I do like about this season so far, but I find the above two story lines hugely disappointing.
  17. Following so I don't lose this topic. (On my iPad and the follow button at the top isn't working for me today). Lots of great info here. Thanks so much for sharing! ETA: well, now the follow button appears to be working. Go figure!
  18. Rumple fascinates us, too. Robert Carlyle is an incredibly gifted actor.
  19. I'm glad the show is back, but I think it will take a little while for me to settle into Neverland. I'm surprised at how much I missed Storybrooke! My household was fairly impatient for Emma and gang to "get off the boat already". That bit seemed to drag on and on. I don't like Pan, and I was so hoping the kid who turned out to be Pan would end up being Tootles (and on the side of good). Are they making Pan evil so we'll love Hook even more? We're already anxious for the next episode! Thoughts on the new series OUAT in Wonderland? Planning to watch? That was a surprise to us. We had heard nothing about a spin-off before tonight. DH joked that this show is going to turn into something along the lines of Law and Order with several spin-offs of the original. ; )
  20. Thank you all very much. No showings before noon was a thought running through my head. It helps to hear I'm not way out there with that idea. I like the get rid of clutter quick plans, too, and the get out of house quick checklist. Just how neat did you keep your school area? Our realtor said if that's the one room that is questionable, she's okay with it, but I wonder just how questionable? : ) We have stacks and stacks of books out at any given time and dd always has an art project or 10 going. She also has some playmobil settings in ongoing use. Our other rooms stay fairly neat most of the time - or would at least be easy to pick up quickly. The school area is in a bonus room that is half play room/half school room. It does NOT stay picked up well at all. Our realtor is okay with explaining to buyers that we homeschool and this room is put to good use, but other realtors probably won't know what we do. ETA: Thanks for the alternate schooling ideas, too. We do have a park and a library close by. We're on a green belt, too, with park benches scattered here and there, and I've seriously considered taking some books out to one w/in sight of the house, so we can head back in as soon as we see people leave. I don't think we'd be terribly obvious because people use the green belt at all hours of the day.
  21. Our house will hopefully be ready to put on the market w/in the next couple of weeks. Dd (4th grade) and I have a pretty good thing going with school so far, but I'm worried about that derailing once the house goes up for sale. Please be free and generous with your best tips for continuing to move forward with learning while trying to keep a house presentable for prospective buyers. The last time we sold a house, dd was three and it was not so difficult to manage then as it seems it will be this time. Thanks!
  22. : ( sending hugs your way and prayers for your friend and her loved ones.
  23. We are lucky. Dd's very sweet teacher replaces them for us. : ) Unfortunately, I will soon have to learn. We will be moving away from this very sweet teacher, and we have plans to continue lessons with her via Facetime - a situation not particularly suited to having her continue to replace strings.
  24. I agree. I haven't read it because I also thought it was a Christian book on purity. Now I'm intrigued. I'll have to seek it out.
