  1. Awesome! I remember your original post...none of my family was interested in joining you. I hope in November you share details!
  2. Did you make any progress? If I haven't said so before, congrats on the new baby!!
  3. Now that I have 2 doing high school course work, I do use weekends to catch up with them -- individual time, when I'm fresh. Meaning NOT after 8pm. However, with the others (10 and under), there is no school on the weekend because if you do not finish your assigned schoolwork you do not get to get up and play on the computer at 6am on Saturday morning. I just went back & read your signature. Three SL Cores and a new baby? That is a lot! Could you do just SWO/FLL/WWE OR R&S/CW? :grouphug:
  4. Glad the day turned out beautiful on the inside! :)
  5. I just posted my weekly report (disclaimer: includes immense insect photo at the end)!
  6. A whole month of school done already: Bright Sky Six Warning: Immense insect photo at end of post.
  7. That is precious. :grouphug: My own little "Elanor" is almost walking.
  8. :iagree: Just had a financial bummer. Two actually. I imagine she meant she wants to be a better steward of "the money my husband worked hard to earn at a job he hates to provide for our family in this dismal economy" -- or something along those lines!
  9. Laura, enjoyed your day...so long ago! I enjoyed some of your other blog posts also. Hope the sepetic tank is keeping up and the gas tank is full for winter!
  10. The M-mv posts were a joy to read -- especially about letting your son be his own man. Looking forward to an updated day! :)
  11. Donna, I loved reading about your day -- homeschooling really allows your dd to develop her talents. I read several other of your posts (the clay cells were beautiful) and wanted to comment but wasn't a team member. You're one busy mom!
  12. I enjoy reading them because a) they make me feel like I'm not alone, and b) they make me realize my life isn't as chaotic as it could be. I did one for our day yesterday because by "Weekly Report Friday" I've forgotten it all. Please share a link to yours! Or type it up here! :D
  13. Hi Daisy! I just posted in the other vegetarian thread (and recommended a great cookbook). I worried a lot about the protein aspect because dh had thrived on low-carb. But I've read enough and eaten no meat for long enough that it isn't at the forefront of my thoughts anymore. If I'm feeling the need for protein (although it may be a need for FAT) I eat nuts or cheese.
  14. My dds decided to be vegetarian for health reasons awhile back (6-9 months) and now we all are eating that way. For awhile we were trying to eat primarily raw but have gone back to cooked food. I'm happier (raw is SO time consuming!) and my boys are happier. I've got a great book from the library called How to Cook Everything Vegetarian by Mark Bittman. It's a huge, excellent resource -- lots of recipe variations & ideas.
  15. I was just going to search the board for SCA-related posts. I'm about to email our local group about getting involved. :)
  16. Three weeks of school for the Bright Sky Six!
  17. :lol:The drinking coffee/slacking off picture in your sig would be in my 10yo ds's if he had one! We don't have a coffee pot but if we go to a restaurant, I always get a coffee with cream for the two of us! And he loves to slack off! :)

  18. I'm 2 for 2 on posting Weekly Reports! :) Bright Sky Six
  19. Epsilon...but neither of my 2 who went through it found them necessary. Maybe #3 will, they're such a great visual!
  20. We do! We've actually been eating vegetarian lately...a lot of raw veggies! I have quite a few of the magazines if you want to borrow!
  21. We're Stonewall Academy when we need a name, after dh's personal hero, Stonewall Jackson. When we decided it, we thought it was fitting because we wanted our children's faith to be as a stonewall also. :) Now that we live in Virginia...just off "Lee Jackson Memorial Highway" of all places, I suggested we change it to Anduril Academy, after Aragorn's sword "The Flame of the West" in LOTR...I like alliteration! But dh said no. Here is a link to verses to send to soldiers -- you might find just the one for your school (shield, fortress, stronghold, victory)!
  22. We started this week and I decided to create a new blog for posting weekly reports! Bright Sky Six
  23. In Arizona there is a group called AZStRUT (Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology) -- the high school students rebuild/refurbish computers and donate them to local charities. We donated all our old computers to them after dh removed the hard drives (which he gave to ds to take apart). A local computer repair place might be able to remove the hard drive (and give it to you) and then recycle the computer.
