  1. We like a lot of new board games at Christmas because we have the time together as a family to learn the new games. Also with the colder weather we are not spending time on our outdoor hobbies. Winter is when we love learning new games by the fire!
  2. Fairy Tale. Great game. A ton of replayability. We play a lot of games and this continues to be a favorite. I can't say enough good things about it! And it is fairly inexpensive...around $20 I think.
  3. Imho, she is not at the right point in her life to be making a marriage decision.
  4. Tammy...safe travels to you! I hope you have a great trip!!
  5. >horseback riding at the lake with dd15 >vacuum house and get ready for first day of school on Monday >take a nap >pick up dd18 from airport around midnight from her trip to Bolovia with Engineers without Borders
  6. Water all day. Sometimesanadultbeverageafterkidsareinbed :-) darn swype...
  7. Reading to them since they were babies. Now the ones at home are 15 and 12. A chapter or so a night.
  8. we sold back a college textbook. great experience.
  9. Celebrating my 15 year old's birthday!! It will be a fun day :)
  10. When asking dh to do something like empty the dishwasher, I say "Would you mind emptying the dishwasher?" He thinks it is more polite to say " Would you please...?" I will say that with the kids but imo it sounds more like a polite order. I am just getting over being sick is why I would ask him anyway and not sick kids aren't available. So...your thoughts??
  11. Same situation here...hoping for recommendations!
  12. I love reading about everyone's homes and what they like about them. It is helping me to see that there are tradeoffs and to enjoy what we have instead of what we don't! So much to be thankful for...♥♥♥
  13. I love: **having a huge garden **neighbors far enough away to not see them but close enough for comfort and help ( about half a mile) **having horses and future rescue chickens **feels like a vacation spot with our pond and trees **dd loves taking photos and being outdoors Lots of work and some negatives but I love where we live! !
  14. I just read the news report. My heart goes out to you and your family. Please make sure you are getting the help you need right now. I cannot begin to understand how difficult and devastating it must be.
  15. Mine has continued to expand her horizons this year. She has loved living in the honors dorm and has a lot of friends. She is fulfilling her desire to travel and see the world by going to Bolivia (service project for Engineers without Borders) and then studying abroad in Wales in the fall. Very exciting time for her and I am very proud of her!
  16. I love cow eyes! Big and beautiful!!
  17. My dd attended a cc as a DE student her jr. and sr. years. The classes were not fluff at all and were equivalent to the 4 yr classes she is taking now at a university for a Chem E degree. They prepared her well! It is known as an excellent cc though.
  18. I am reading We are Water by Wally Lamb. So far I am really enjoying it. As a read aloud to the 14 yo, we just finished Beautiful Creatures last night and moving into Beautiful Darkness today. For the 12 yo, we are reading Jinx. I like all of our read alouds right now! Jinx was a bit slow to get into, but it is enjoyable now.
  19. My dd did Key to Algebra as her prealgebra course when she was 10/11. A year later, she is taking an Algebra course through a college prep online school and doing fantastic. Don't worry! Also, I do incorporate review just to make sure that she is solid on all of the items her peers are learning now.
  20. Wow! Looks great!! You look great in all of the pics you posted, but the short cut is really fun.
  21. I have only been to one and I felt like it was very pushy to host a party. If I remember correctly, I was somehow coerced into signing up to host...maybe you could draw out of a bag for a discount and someone would get an "opportunity" to host. Anyway, I never did and I felt a tad guilty. I hate parties like that. Good thing I am not invited anymore...lol.
  22. I feel your pain and frustration. We are dealing with same issues here. We isolate a problem cat in the basement. It doesn't totally solve our problem but he was 95% of the issue. He has food and water there and it is half finished so not a bad life. He comes up at night and behaves himself. Our bed is just irresistible to him during the day.
  23. Our critical thinking skills work was very important and the emphasis on math. My dd is a chemical engineering major now in an honors program. Also I think it was very important to her success to attend community college classes and learn study techniques while still at home with our support. She also learned to find study buddies and interact with other students.
