  1. I lost 20 lbs after a life emergency since than I have been trying to lose more. I have been eating well very little fat lots of veggies and in a more than a month I have only lost 6 lbs in the past several weeks not one more pound. I have a great deal of weight to lose, I want to see it go much fast than a pound or two a week or I will get discouraged.
  2. With you at all times. If you don't have one contact the police some have programs to loan battered women one and you seem to be in a similar situation. Also I would suggest keeping your porch light on all day and night and let your neighbors know if it is ever out to call the police. Just a couple of safety things I thought of wishing you well. It has been a terrible week for me too.
  3. Chicken breasts - 1) Make cutlets, I slice the chicken breast very thin getting about 3 pieces per breasts. To really stretch it serve with pasta and a marinara sauce. 2) Use one or two breast and make fettuccini 3) Bake and use for grilled sands 4) Fajitas Whole chicken 1) Roast or BQ use for BQ pizza with this type of pizza less is best Use a flat bread or pizza shell add Little BQ sauce, very little diced chicken, onion and parsley. This is the best idea for stretching the chicken I have ever come across one breast has fed my family of 4 big eaters. 2) Again use for grilled sands, soups. Salad with chicken, Caesar chicken salad With two chickens you can get pizza, sands and soup or stew for a large family easily For the Italian sausage. Use half for a pasta sauce the other half , cook in a tomatoes sauce add onions and peppers if desired and cook in a slow cooker when done cut in half length wise and put in bun with sauce. Ground beef - meat balls go a long way, add bread crumbs, and parsley. You can serve in a gravy or tomatoe sauce, or meatball subs Sheppard pie adding veggies to stretch the meat. Having so much meat on hand at the same time, I would suggest cooking a head and freezing some, to help with planing. My biggest problem is being to tired to bother streching some times and do what is quicker and easier and that can be a waste.
  4. sandals, I also have plantar fasciitis among other foot problems and I love my crocs sandals they are far more comfortable then the crocs shoes beware of other sandals that look like crocs. They are pink and brown, I think they also come in black.
  5. and I love it. Taking the air out of the packaging not only keeps it fresher longer but it helps with keeping the packages as small as possible. Also for freezing sauces and soups, laying them flat takes up less room. I am working on stocking my large deep freeze with ready meals, mostly sauces, soups, meats, side dishes. I especially like the vacuum sealer because the bags are strong enough to take the constant moving from one section of the freezer to the other while looking for something. They can also be washed and reused if not used with something greasy.
  6. I didn't notice the noise when test driving, that is the heater noise, but you sure notice it when it is cold and you have it cranked. In fact it is so noisy I have it turned off when I back up because I want to be able to hear someone honk at me if I don't see them. As for the vibration noise that started 6 months ago and reminds me of the old large station wagon my mom had when we were kids. Oh and I forgot one other thing AndyJoy you maybe interested in this don't know if the newer models do the same thing but mine does: when you park for a few hours you will want to back in so you can drive out. For some reason if when you first drive by backing up after it sitting for awhile your breaks will screech loudly it is embarrassing. It has done this since the first day. The salesman warned me about it
  7. I have a fan on, on my side of the room all year round, we have a kingsize down comforter. On dh side between the top sheet and the comforter I put a single size heated blanket for dh and he loves it, all works well.
  8. I think I over paid but that is another issue. I bought it because it was a six seater at the time I had a ford windstar that was running poorly. The Mazda 5 saved me a lot of money on gas. The likes, it is easy to get in and out of parking spots, easy to maneuver. Good view all around (the Windstar had terrible blind spots in the front windshield). The seats are comfortable, good to keep clean. Controls are in easy reach. Love the hidden storage in the two middle seats. The two middle seats have easy fast fasteners for car seats, but the two back seats also hold car seats well. The Pergo seats fit the best, it was incredible. Having six seats are nice but now I only have one child to drive around and sometimes my grandson. I keep the last two seats folded most of the time and have a cover, which is very handy when shopping at Costco lol. The sliding doors are great, makes it much easier for getting in and out of the back seat, also closing the side doors is very easy most people tend to slam them which drive me crazy. Dislikes, the carpet on the back of the two seats when folded is your cargo area is impossible to vacuum, we have a dog and no matter how hard I try the hair does not come off. My dd suffers in the summer the air conditioner does not make it to the back plus it is very noisy. I allow her to sit in the front on hot days. When I bought mine tinted windows were an after market option yet in the commercials and advertising it showed a model with tinted windows. The heat and aircondioner are very noisy when turned on high it is almost impossible to hear the radio. Love the option shifting in to a 5 speed it was a great option to get traction on icy days. I have had to get the electronic engine undated twice I think it needs it again, not sure if there will be a charge for this in the future so far they haven't. The thing I hate the most about this car and have complained to my service department every time I take it in. Sometimes not often enough for anyone to catch as to why it happens it will jerk hard the first time it happened I looked behind me thought I was rear ended but it was the car. To best describe it I say it is like teaching someone to drive a standard that is very bad at it and they don’t shift when they put in the clutch. It doesn't happen much it is mostly when cold it hesitates at times; it is hard on my very bad neck. When they do the updating on the engine it helps for a period of time. It has also stalled for no reason; these things worry me what if it happens on the highway. Also the back sounds like an old old station wagon, it rumbles and vibrates and I have never carried a heavy load. This past winter I was home bound a lot because of the low profile I just became a snow plow and got stuck just getting out my driveway. There is such little space between the tires and the car that it is almost impossible to put on chains, this being our main car made it hard for skiing time. Snow tires are over two thousand for this car not sure it would of helped much. Also being so low I have hit the front bummer on curbs a lot I have even damaged the front bummer the first week I had it. We are mostly short people in this family, but my son 6' hates my car his knees hit the dash. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. My opinion it is a good second car for getting around, if you are into winter sports I would skip this car.
  9. Just the other day dd wanted tacos so I made two large packs of ground beef using one for tacos the other ready for Sheppard pie. Vacuum packed the taco beef mix in portions for our family making several and some individual portions for dd lunch. The pack for Sheppard pie I added onions and peppers cooked than packed in two large portions for Sheppard pie. To make it healthier you could use ground chicken or turkey. So I have several meals almost ready. When I BQ Chicken or a roast beef. I make extra for example I will cook two or three chickens at a time it doesn't take any extra time to make an extra. If I cook three I use one for dinner and the left over for dh or ds lunch for work. The second will be dinner the second or third night as sands or quesadillas, the third I will vacuum pack and store in the fridge for a few days latter or freeze for an emergency meal. Same goes for a roast beef have it for dinner on night than skip a night than have beef dip or quesadillas. If it is a very large roast and I still have some left over I will put all what is needed for a beef stew except the gravy part and vacuum pack it and freeze it for a latter time so it doesn't seem like left over’s. Or use very little meat beef or chicken and make pizzas using a store bought pizza shell. Don't forget about grilled sands with left over’s they only take minutes to grill. Once every few month I will cook for two days making things for the freezer so if we are short on time or not feeling well I have most of a dinner ready. I often make my own stuffed chicken breast or cutlets freezing them on cooking sheets before vacuum packing just so I can take out just what I need and reseal the rest. When ever possible I cook to have left over’s, to use for lunches or as another dinner to freeze for another day. I always have some frozen veggies on hand to cut done on pre time for those busy days; it also saves me from running to the store as often. I love my vacuum pack it saves room in the deep freeze the food store longer and looks good, no freezer burn. Dh often works late so I like to have something nice on hand for him, I have salmon or chicken packed in single portions with a tasty sauce, I cook them in the toaster oven with cut up potatoes and veggies and cook them all on one small tray and it always comes out beautifully. You could do the same in a larger oven and save on clean up. Hope this has helped you
  10. do I need for 50 people. I am using ten large loafs cut a cross to make it easier. I am making egg salad, cream cheese with cucumber, cream cheese with asparagus and ham with Swiss cheese sands. We will also have two large veggie platters, cheese and salami and assortment of cakes. Am I missing anything? This is for my grandmother’s memorial. I am doing it on my own because my uncles asked me to at the last minute. It has been so long since I have done anything for such a large gathering. It will be in the later afternoon from 2:30 to 5:30. Is this enough food?
  11. because her printing was all over the page. She took to it quickly everyone thought it was a much older student doing the writing. Fast forward more than 4 years latter improvent as been slow. Her handwriting is still far beter than her printing but I thought by now there should be more of a differance from 4 years ago. So we are spending more time using practice books something we did not do much of until now.
  12. I saw a program recently about women who almost died trying to find out what was wrong with her, she was getting so sick and the doctor just kept saying she had a virus and gave her meds. She was also having trouble breathing, pain fevers. After several months a lung specialist found out she had one of the worst lung infections he had ever seen. It was all due to hidden mold in her house. It didn't affect anyone else in the house because she also had allergies to this mold. The homeowners were not aware their neighbors had a leaky shower that was not repaired correctly and in the sharing wall mold was growing. It was not visible without tearing out the wall. They had to move out until she got better and remove the wall. It was something no one would have thought about. Mold can be very dangerous.
  13. Personally I could not help out with this task; it would stress me out to much. I picked up my grandson at preschool last year he was the only child in a car seat most of the other kids didn’t even use a seat belt. I brought it to the teacher’s attention and she knew all about it. The staff had safety days showing parents how to use car seats they even had a policeman come in and explain the new law that was making it mandatory until the child reached 80 pounds. It didn’t change anything. This year my grandson is in Kindergarten, when they go on field trips the school provides boaster or car seats depending on the child’s weight. I would print up some little notes and hand them to the parents; at least you can say you tried. My first dd is now 28 she carries little notes in her car when she sees parents not using a car seat she will leave a little note saying something like it is the law or if you really loved your child you should do the best you can and so on. She would never confront anyone but some times people just do what they think is the norm if someone points it out that it isn't socially expectable to endanger their children just maybe you can convert one parent to use a car seat.
  14. but why shouldn't Dateline pay her for the interview they all get paid and paid well I am sure. That story made them plenty and it is her story, her life how many tens of thousands of people tuned in to see what she had to say. I think Dateline did her a disservice to her and her children by not paying her I am sure other media would have. She may of made bad choices but the babies are here now and I do not think that tiny house can hold 8 more babies. She needs to get income by what ever means she can. At the end of the program they said donations can be made online to a website set up for her where is Dateline's donation in these hard times I am sure they can afford to contribute a good sum.
  15. I don't know if it is much cheaper for staples but meat for sure. I also think the meat is much freasher than most places. I purchase meat for the week so I have things ready to go and not have to worry about thawing.
  16. Yes the doctor thinks it is Mastitis he has put me on two antibiotics but wants to confirm it with an ultra sound but the earliest they can fit me in is on the 24. I have had mastitis several times before while nursing my youngest now 12 but this time is different there is a red rash area it isn’t itchy at all. The infection is much closer to the nipple than it had been before. I didn’t know you go get mastitis if you’re not nursing. Thank you for easing my mind.
  17. On my 46th birthday my breast became very sore, I have a large painful hard lump near the nipple area. I was running a low grade fever but I do run one often anyway. The fever has gone but the lump hasn’t. My period ended three days ago. I haven’t nursed a baby for ten years could it still be a breast infection? I have done the massaging and moist heat. I called the doctors office they were too busy to see me until I told her the problem and now I have an appointment this afternoon. I am a little worried.
  18. and she is a single mother, living with her parents. That is what our news had reported. I just don't see how anyone could manage with 14 children not to mention the cost. I know there is alway an exception like the Duggars. I really admire Mr and Mrs Duggar.
  19. instead of large meat portions Use a small amount of meat on a pizza the simplest one is BQ chicken pizza on flat bread - spread small amount of bq sauce on flat bread or pizza shell add cut up cooked chicken, peppers, onion, cheese bacon and parsley. With this pizza less is best too many toppings spoil it. Taco salad is another easy cheap dinner. I also make my own version of hamburger helper the kids love it. When I make pasta with any kind of tomatoes sauce or when I use store bought. I always make enough for two dinners or for lunches the next day and to make an inexpensive sauce taste like an expensive one, just add a little cream or half and half. And when you add the pasta to the sauce in the pan the sauce goes that much farther. I use to always add the sauce to the pasta when serving. Lately I have been buying less meat items at any one time but bigger packages. I will buy three whole chickens and roast two, have one for dinner the other will be for lunches such as chicken sand or salad using only half the second chicken and the other half will be used for Bq chicken pizza for dinner. Than the third chicken I will cut up and make fried chicken or bake in the oven with a homemade shake n bake. I will buy a whole pork lion and cut a piece and make pork roat, another piece I will slice thinly and bread and pretend they are veal cutlets that is what most restraunts do so why can't I. Then there is still plenty left for a stir fry or ginger pork these can really stretch the meat the more veggies you add to it when ever possible I try to have plenty left for the next days lunches. I use to be one that always had meat in the freezer, but now I find it is easier to have just what you need for 5 days or so in the fridge, I am careful to check dates on the packages, the vacuumed packed meat like the whole pork lion are good for a week or more in the fridge.
  20. first years ago my ds had his problem because he would not use a toilet any where but home. It got so bad in grade 2 he had to take two months off school and be on laxatives to give his system a break. We recently went through a long bout with dgs for months we would get backed up once so bad the doctor but him in hospital to get cleaned out. It was so sad to watch the screaming was unbearable. After months of trying different things for him we found he can not eat bananas and he loves them not even a few bites. He is fine now as long as he had prunes once or twice a week.
  21. Cheese and crackers- use cream cheese, roasted red peppers shrimp can or fresh mix it all together in food processor leaving it a little lumpy. Serve chilled garnish with parsley.) chicken wings are always a good choice ( I use wet wings and coat them in a flour mixture with seasoning salt and basil, deep fry them you can serve them hot or cold) I will often make several different kinds, after deep frying I will put barbeque sauce or teriyaki sauce or honey and garlic sauce. The above works well using cut up chicken breast or thicker slices so no need to worry about the bone. But only works good served hot one I am going to use this year is pork Souvlaki meat sold at Costco’s in large pieces. I am going to cube it, cook it, then put each piece on a tooth pick you can also buy the sauce already done or make your own. Garnish with red, green and yellow peppers.
  22. A Sony they also have one that is touch screen like the iPod phone. I don't think they do anything other than store your documents and photos. There is no way I could read very long off the Iphone or one of the other mp3 players. My husband has one that plays movies and I can't be bothered it is to small. Plus the screens on these e-readers are easier on the eyes. It was a little heavier than I hoped. It would be wonderful if you could download teacher manuals, lesson plans, schedules and so on. http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/ProductDetailDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=1005164&navigationPath=n46881n100431
  23. they tell you how to clean it but nothing on how to use it. Do you need to seasons it first? Do you preheat the oven before putting it in or does it go into a cold oven?
