  1. The fish sauce should be at any local bigger store. I am in Montana, so I feel your pain, but Albertson's and Safeway have it.
  2. I actually find WP far more intuitive than Blogger. As for the free themes there are tons of sites with them, and many many good ones.
  3. The Mario Party games are fun too and even I will play them and I rarely jump in to a vid game. Ditto on Mario Kart Wii.
  4. Funny I was in need of a new foundation and stopped in at the Estee Lauder counter this afternoon. I have never been a big foundation wearer, but at almost 49, I wanted to even out my skin tone. I came home with the new Invisible Liquid foundation and love it. It's really sheer but covered the overly pink tones that show up (I look a little flushed often.) and felt like I was wearing nothing. EL will give you a small bottle that should do you several days to take home and try too.
  5. We went through the whole mess with SS when my 38 YO husband decided he wanted to go to college and SS has no record of him either. It was a loooong drawn out hassle to get a letter from them showing he was 'okay'. Here in Montana, we were told no federal financial aid would be given without that proof and he did have to file it with FA at the university here. So, keep it in a safe place.
  6. There are also lots of sites with free logic puzzles to print. I foudn them simply via Google. These are one of my addictions :)
  7. There is a site ( http://bluestacks.com/ ) that will be in beta soon that is designed to allow you to do this very thing. I have no idea when the beta will start, I've been watching the site for a while now.
  8. Prior's 'The Everything Latin Book' is available to borrow as well. I picked it up a few days ago to read through as I am starting working on Latin myself.
  9. I have seen legitimate questions poof in a matter of minutes. I have to agree with what's been said here. Sadly, there is so much dissatisfaction with the whole rep system and yet those who run the board seem not to care about the opinions of the users that make this place such a good resource. That is what really bothers me.
  10. It seems to me to be a clear case that the company wants to do something for the schools that so desperately need it. So Subway & Scholastic want to do something for schools, why should the homeshooling community be insulted? How is this any different from homeschool-centered contests that school system kids are excluded from? I doubt seriously that Subway created this contest to actively discriminate against or insult the homeschooling community. As for boycotting local Subways or griping at the employees who answer the phone....it's not the employees' or the franchisees' faults and there is nothing they can do and it only insults them and/or hurts their business. It's a corporate issue, take it up with the corporations who are in a position to do something about your issue.
  11. Yes, Norton can really hog system resources. We have used AVG (free) for ages and I have not had a virus in years. It has a scheduler built in and mine is set to automatically check for updates around 2 Am, then run a full scan at 3 AM every night while I am asleep.
  12. I have en electric one that sits on the counter but I don't use it much - all those little convenience appliances take more effort to clean than a pot that can be put into the dishwater :) What I use more often is my spaghetti pot. It came with a deep insert for pasta that I use when I am cooking a lot of veggies, and it came with a shallow insert for smaller batches. I also use it to steam tamales when I make them, for steaming shrimp, crawdads..pretty much anything that needs it.
  13. Citronella plants and those big citronella candles in buckets. Also, for body, tansy ( a plant) works well, similar to citronella oil.
  14. My Mom used to send all that old internet hoax stuff she got. After consistently replying to all of them with a Snopes link she finally started looking them up before she sends them now but it took a while :)
  15. In IE: 1) Click File, then Import and Export 2) The Wizard will Open, click Next 3) Click Export Favorites, then Next 4) Make sure the main favorites Heading is highlighted and click Next 5) Click Export to File Or Address and tell it where to save the file, then Next 6) Once it is done, you can click on the file you saved, it will open in IE as a page full of your bookmarks and you can print it.
  16. Looks great! I think the new color really suits your coloring too :)
  17. I tend to freeze chives too. For herbs in general, I simply put then on a colander to let air circulate and set them on a shelf in the kitchen for a few days. This is the method we use at the herbalist's practice I worked with for years too. Heat, such as oven or dehydrator, can cause some loss of flavor, color and potency she said.
  18. I grew up in the deep South too and no one believed unsweeted tea was drinkable :) I tend to use the small bags, 6 for a gallon, 9 if I am making 2 gallons, which I usually do. For a gallon about 1 /34 cup of sugar, I usually use 3 cups when I make two gallons as actually doubling it makes it too sweet , oddly enough. I boil the water , let the tea steep. Put the sugar in the pitcher, pour the hot tea over it and stir then add cold water.
  19. Jewish Literacy by Joseph Telushkin Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin Also in the romance category, just finished the fourth book in J.R. Ward's Black Dagger series and the next is on it's way form Amazon :)
  20. Skin Food by Weleda is awesome and most health food stores have it. I discovered it when I moved to bone-dry Montana. It's really thick but soaks all the way in.
  21. You can also go to The Bookshelf and look at the books in the online order forms by year and unit.
  22. I will second Inhale with Steve Ross. He is really good. I keep hoping he will releave a DVD as his show comes on here at 4 AM. I don;t so anyhting at 4 AM that requires me being mobile with my eyes open :)
  23. Eyes of The Dragon by Stephen King is more fantasy and a fabulous book with less horror as I recall but its been ages since I read it. I have read just about all of his stuff and am a huge fan. Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of my all time favorites but I like Bradbury in general. A movie was made of this int eh 80's I think adn while not the book it might give you a good quick overview. It is pretty creepy int eh skin-crawling way.
