  1. Wow. That's irresponsible. When the church has that much debt it just gives me the impression that they've turned the church into a business. :glare:
  2. :iagree: with all this. Not saying "IT'S THE LAW". But this is how we feel about it also. :001_smile:
  3. We don't claim it on our taxes either so that's why I didn't understand the purpose of the treasurer keeping a record. I'm not saying it's bad to claim your contributions on your taxes, just saying we don't and thats why I wasn't familiar with the in and outs of it.
  4. I don't know why t he treasurer evens needs to keep a record of who gives what? It just seems like it would cause more harm than good. The only way anyone would know what you gave a certain week at our church is if you happen to write a check that week. After service two different people count the money and one of them deposits it in the bank. End of story. Of course, I'm used to smaller congregations.
  5. I think any smaller church would emphasize it less. There aren't as many bills.
  6. I would not go to a church that expected 10% of my income and only/mainly used it to maintain the "building".
  7. This is exactly me...except I was 18. My mom was :confused::confused::confused:.
  8. Harrison was the first thing that popped into my mind. I also like Graham. Montgomery also came to mind.
  9. I went to school with a Kendall. But I like Keeton better. Just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't swap a "C" for a "K".
  10. Anyone at the GHC in Cincinnati this weekend and can give me a report? How is attendance? I'm planning on going tomorrow to shop in exhibit hall. :bigear:
  11. We use and really like Thompson Chain Reference Bibles.
  12. :iagree: I've been to the Cincy convention the past two years. I wanted to go this year, but when I saw the workshops schedule I was glad I didn't register. I've already heard all the workshops I'm interested in. I thought they needed a bit more variety from past years. I am planning to just drive up on Saturday and pay to get in the vendor hall.
  13. :iagree: I was shocked that the church was charging such a high price to a member. :glare:
  14. :lol: Looks about like our family.. he is all grins and I'm miserable! :lol:
  15. Happy he is found! Hope the family can work through this situation together. :grouphug:
  16. I have no experience in this area...but have heard people suggest AAS for phonics instruction.
