    Wow. That's irresponsible. When the church has that much debt it just gives me the impression that they've turned the church into a business. :glare:

    We don't claim it on our taxes either so that's why I didn't understand the purpose of the treasurer keeping a record. I'm not saying it's bad to claim your contributions on your taxes, just saying we don't and thats why I wasn't familiar with the in and outs of it.

    I don't know why t he treasurer evens needs to keep a record of who gives what? It just seems like it would cause more harm than good. The only way anyone would know what you gave a certain week at our church is if you happen to write a check that week. After service two different people count the money and one of them deposits it in the bank. End of story. Of course, I'm used to smaller congregations.

    I think any smaller church would emphasize it less. There aren't as many bills.

    I would not go to a church that expected 10% of my income and only/mainly used it to maintain the "building".

    I went to school with a Kendall. But I like Keeton better. Just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't swap a "C" for a "K".

    Anyone at the GHC in Cincinnati this weekend and can give me a report? How is attendance? I'm planning on going tomorrow to shop in exhibit hall. :bigear:

    :iagree: I've been to the Cincy convention the past two years. I wanted to go this year, but when I saw the workshops schedule I was glad I didn't register. I've already heard all the workshops I'm interested in. I thought they needed a bit more variety from past years. I am planning to just drive up on Saturday and pay to get in the vendor hall.

    I have no experience in this area...but have heard people suggest AAS for phonics instruction.
