  1. Some went home. Some died and cremated.
  2. Cancel. Airports and airplanes and any long distance travel invlolve intetacting with people from many places. You may not carry the virus, but others who carry it may infect you and then you would be infecting along the way.
  3. They cover up. One person who reported a new case got fired. If you report new cases, you lose your job. That shuts people up. 60% of the deaths happened in their own homes before being tested and they are not included in the Wuhan virus caused death number.
  4. OP here. My friend is not very concerned about her husband having an affair since he always spends time with the kids and family and doesn't have unaccountable 'self' outing time per se. He used to get together with a college friend once or twice a year for dinner and always told her where they went. He and she generally spend time together with their mutual friends in Bible study and they host movies at their house once a month. She says she doesn't have reason to suspect an affair, but will try to take a peek of his phone some time.
  5. It is amazing that so many Americans are going to still travel during the children's spring break. There may be more widespread outbreak after spring break. A friend asked people in her area if they will go travel as planned during spring break. They all responded yes, 87 families responded. Amazing! Why are Americans so optimistic?
  6. Ds17 is doing PSEO at a small college for his 11th grade now. Since he would like to go to University of MN for computer science major, he applied to the U of MN PSEO program for 12th grade. He applied last year there too but didn't get in. With his very high ACT score and excellent PSEO grades he earned for the fall semester of this school year, we hope he has a good chance of getting in. U of MN does not give notice of acceptance until end of May. The small college he is attending now wants PSEO students to submit the state form and register for classes for next school year. What should we do in this situation? Can he register now and drop some classes once he is admitted into the U of MN PSEO? Have you had such experience of transferring from one PSEO to another or dropping all the classes you registered altogether? Thanks!

  8. Ds took ACT last October and was notified by email to check his score in his online ACT account two weeks or so after the test. We are still waiting for the paper test report to come in the mail to our home address. Does ACT send paper report to your home? Since it has been so long I wonder if I am mistaken in expecting it in the mail. Please help me know, thanks!
  9. He does want to apply to the U as college student after he finishes PSEO. PreACT score of course is not considered for college application. He will use this ACT score to apply for both PSEO and regular college. He did test decently well for all his IOWA tests. He worked very hard for three months in the spring and summer (May-July) reviewing and studying new materials for math as well as some time for English and science. Now with almost one semester of preCal at college level, he improved his math and overall test score a lot.
  10. Thank you very much for your detailed response. Last time I checked with Olaf, they said they accept 16 PSEO credits. Ds really wants to go to the U, main reason being the U is very generous about accepting PSEO credits. He is a junior right now. He applied with a PreACT of 26 to the U and did not get accepted. Now he has an ACT of 34, we would like him to apply for PSEO at the U for his senior year. That way he will take classes there, no worry about transferability, and he gets to prove he can do well there and will hopefully get into College of Science and Engineering more easily.
  11. Ds got his ACT score three days ago. He has improved 8 points over his PreACT, much to his and our surprise. I did not ask him to sign up for writing because I thought he would not do very well considering his PreACT score. So now we regret it. I know some schools do not require ACT writing. U of MN College of Science and Engineering is his goal, with computer science as major. U of MN says it "recommend ACT writing but considers application without writing complete". I am just afraid for the sane 34 composite score students with ACT writing score would be preferred over ds. What would you do? Ds normally does not test well. So he is unsure to get 34 if he takes it again. I told him to just take it again and if it is much lower than 34, he can just use this 34 without the writing score. Though we would like him to attend St. Olaf college for the small size and easiness to double major, he is very unhappy that St. Olaf accepts only very limited PSEO credits. He really wants to go to the U of MN. It's only 2 miles from us. He is attending on campus PSEO at Concordia University for junior and senior years. Thanks for your input.
  12. Thanks! I know this step. But where do you go from this? The final answer is x= e^1/5n + ln10. Without the (. ) to put 1/5n + ln 10. I guess the answer is wrong.
  13. Ln X = 1/(5n+ ln 10) Solve for X Can you show me the steps of solving this? Thanks!
  14. Hi, I have been away from the board for a long time. Now ds16 is doing PSEO and I only need to teach him Mandarin and health at home. Ds14 decided he was done with homeschooling and is now at a very good private high school. A neighbor's son asked me to tutor him for algebra. He graduated hig school 2 years ago and would like to go to college to study sports medicine. He has a regular job and makes money. I will tutor him 3 times a week for two months probably. So how much should I charge each 80 minute lesson? I live in St. Paul, MN, by the way. I enjoy tutoring math and I found today that he responds very well to my teaching. He has forgotten how to do multiplication. I feel very confident being a tutor, especially after teaching ds16 precalculus this past summer intensively, and of course over all the 11 homeshooling years. Thanks for your input!
  15. I highly recommend University of Northwestern St Paul. They have very early PESO notice of acceptance and as soon as you are accepted, you can start to enroll for classes. Unfornately ds16 did not want to go there because it is too far, in fact, just 8 miles from us. My friends' kids all signed up for PESO on campus classes as early as April! Amazing! There are great online classes offered as well.
  16. Thanks a lot! I am nervous about this. Hope to get some encouragement from those who've been through this process. Still waiting to enroll for classes and a lot of them are already full!
  17. University of Northwestern, Concordia University, both in St. Paul, are good colleges. Northcentral College is at the edge of downtown Minneapolis. St Olaf in Northfield has great liberal arts education with people from many states and countries. We hope our tow boys can go to St, Olaf.
  18. Hi, would like to connect with MN people whose kids have attended or will attend PESO at Concordia University St Paul. Ds16 is accepted and is still waiting for advising session to enroll in classes. Hopefully he can enroll in MacroEcon, precalculus, and college writing. He still needs to take math placement test in order to sign up for any math class. If you have experience with Concordia PSEO, would you mind sharing it with me? Thanks a lot!
