  1. Have you ever tried Leinenkugel Summer Wheat with an orange? Very similar to Blue Moon, but even better IMO:).
  2. My used to run a daycare and my younger brother was a biter. She had to make many apologies. He was just the type of kid that didn't yell when mad, just held it in until he exploded (which meant biting). It does get better:grouphug:
  3. Glad I'm not the only one obsessed! I have been watching everyday:). The defense is just laughable! The whole thing is just insane.....like an unbelievable Lifetime movie!
  4. I think I am on book 33 or 34. STILL trying to get through The Trial by Kafka. I find it torturous to read and can only tolerate a few pages per day. I keep reading thinking there must be some redeeming quality since it is a classic. I finishes Night Light by Terri Blackstock. It is the second in a series describing life after electromagnetic pulses destroy all electronics. I've enjoyed the first two books. I have started Uncle Tom's Cabin as well.
  5. My kids all live the Rachel Ray Cooking Rocks book. To be honest, I use quite a few of the recipes myself:). Especially the Mediterranean pasta dish....so good!
  6. That is so ridiculous. You should just feel sorry for a person that has enough time on their hands to go around making such immature comments on a blog.
  7. I think it is because of the student debt that can be accumulated with wages straight out of college not being enough to pay it off. It can become a financial burden. After I got my degree I went to work for not much more than what I made waitressing. That said, we talk to our kids about college as in "when" they go, not "if". We plan to take that financial burden in, but some kids don't have that option.
  8. I have a B.S. In Criminal Justice. I used professionally for a year. I use what I learned everyday at home teaching my kids. An education is never a waste, IMO!
  9. 30 and 30:). I had my first at 18 though, so I am ready to enjoy the indepence of my kids now!
  10. I read 4 books last week: Sweetie, Fragile, Why Me?, and The Glass Castle (don't have the authors on hand). This week I am reading Nightlight and trying to read The Trial by Kafka. I have been trying for awhile now. I am about halfway through and still trying to figure out what others have likes about it. I find it unbelievably boring. But, I am determined to finish it...even if I can only tolerate a few pages a day'
  11. There are 10 years between my two dds. They have an adorable relationship:)
  12. Our go to smoothies is vanilla yogurt, orange juice, and frozen strawberries (so that we don't have to use ice which waters it down).
  13. I finished book 28 last night: Lucky by Alice Sebold. It is a memoir of her rape as a college students and the immediate aftermath. As with Sebold's other books, it was often harsh, very matter of fact, and hard to put down. I am in the middle of Sweetie by Kathryn Magendie.
  14. We rarely disagree to such an extent. As many others have said, if we did it would come down to who was more passionate on the subject. Usually that is me;). Fortunately my dh is very easy going and I usually get my way in the end...heehee:)
  15. I would definitely still homeschool although I admit our curriculum would likely be more dull. I would probably have forgotten to add in things like logic, critical thinking, vocabulary, art, etc. had I not been convinced how important these supplements were by thus board. So, we would continue but I would miss the boards like crazy:)
  16. I am few books behind, but hope to catch up so I am reading two this week. I started The Glass Castle and Unbroken. Hopefully I can get through them both and start another two next week.
  17. I'm sure she will appreciate your concern!!
  18. It hits me when I hear "my" music on the "oldies" channel.
  19. I don't have any good advice, just :grouphug:. I was in your daughters shoes at 18. I was fortunate enough to have already had a job when I found out. I remember I quit when I was about 4-5 months along, but don't really remember what I did to fill the time. I had also been accepted to college and had to delay it due to the pregnancy. It was a difficult and lonely time watching all if my friends go off to school. However, I did eventually go back to school and graduated with my bachelors. Many colleges offer great childcare programs at a minimal fee for students. Anyway, I hope she is able to find something to pass the time and help her not feel so lost. I know it was a very difficult time for me, however my dd changed my life in so many amazing ways and I wouldn't change what happened for the world. My only regrets are that I worried far too much about what other people thought and didn't enjoy the pregnancy like I should have. Best of luck to your dd, if she or you ever want to talk to someone that has BTDT, feel free to PM me!!!
  20. I'm always convinced someone is in our garage....trying to get in, of course. The other night I could have swore I heard someone trying to pick the lock. Dh ignores me.
  21. 7 layer dip is always delicious and easy to throw together! Or, even simpler, some pre-made queso and chips.
  22. Around 50 for most weddings. Unless it's someone we're super close with, then maybe more.
  23. Some people! I was once in your dd's shoes. I can't tell you how important having my moms support was! Good for you for supporting your dd and being excited for a new grandbaby!!!
