Last month I had every intention of hiring a twice a month cleaning service for the three bathrooms. But my teen wanted to earn some extra money so I gave her a list of expectations and we agreed on a dollar amount ($7 per bathroom). It takes her about 30 minutes per bathroom. She still does her regular daily chores for her chore money.
It has been working out well! She is particular (just like me) and she gets to earn extra money towards a vehicle. : )
If she ever decides she doesn't want to clean anymore, I will definitely hire out. Having clean bathrooms is worth it to me.

What led me to a wheat free lifestyle (I still have a bit of gluten here and there) is joint pain, constant heart burn, and tummy bloat. Within 3 days I noticed a difference in how I felt. Now, more than a year later, if I eat more than a bite or two of something with wheat, I pay a price with tummy upset and digestive issues. It isn't fun. ; )
It took me more than 3 weeks to get the cravings to go away and they were intense. I also do not substitute with gf foods. They are all so highly processed. Now I eat more of a whole foods diet with minimal processed foods. I am feeling great and can't imagine going back to the way I was eating before.

I have a loved one who was cremated. His roadside memorial is the only place for us to visit, as his ashes were scattered.
So obviously they don't bother me. : )

I don't know exactly what the scam is...My guess is they want her to wire/paypal/cashier check the money to ship the vehicle that never shows up.
That IS too good a deal to be true. Not long ago we sold our 2005 Yukon for more than 5 times that amount. Definitely something wrong with the price and situation.

This is the one and only diet I have tried without feeling deprived. Deprivation is my downfall, I give in once, and then fall totally off the wagon. With No S, I know I can eat that treat on the weekend and it won't be any big deal. I've lost 4 pounds in two weeks.

Most people looking to buy homes that aren't brand new builds are expecting to paint.
In the last four years, we've sold three homes and not painted anything. This includes dark green, purple, pink, and dark blue rooms (my kids pick their own colors).
Is the paint looking worn? Chipped in places? If not, and unless the market in your area is really a buyer's market with lots to choose from, I'd save the time and money and let the buyers paint it later.
If you decide to paint, choose a warm color that feels 'homey'. To me, white/off-white makes a home feel sterile and bland but ymmv.

I've been an avid Duggar watcher for years. Their family just intrigues me. That said, I have to agree with your assessment. The last episode where Josh was driving Anna to the birthing center an hour away, Michelle was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle with a face of stone. It was very strange and disconcerting to watch.I always thought she came off a bit Stepford-y. Calm in a creepy way LOL.

Hearing all these stories about refund problems I'm going to get a tracking number for the box, take pictures of everything before I send it back to be able to prove the condition, and contact my bank five days after they receive the package if they have not issued a refund. I'm pretty sure the bank will refund the purchase and deal with the company themselves.
The more I read the more surprised I am that they are still business.
Good idea. I'm glad to hear they will refund your shipping costs. When I went through a return with WP, I was out priority shipping both ways and it took me 2 months to get a refund once they received the box. Then they tried to claim that I returned damaged items. From the date I ordered until the day I received a refund was 6 long months. Never, ever, ever again will I deal with WP.

I think for allergies or issues that can be contagious should absolutely be disclosed. Years ago, I was a leader for a children's function at church. We did not know until AFTER a friend of dd's got a gushing nosebleed that the girl was a hepatitis C carrier. Fortunately, my dd (who helped the girl to the bathroom) did not come in contact with her blood. It was running down onto the girl's shirt. I told the father that I had a responsibility to let the other leaders know, and I did so. If it comes to the child's safety or other people's safety, then absolutely disclose that information. All else can be left to the family to disclose.

It is written as a 2-year course, but I think you could shorten that depending on how you use it. In part it will depend on how fast your daughter reads (and comprehends) as well as how you want to do the assignments. You could skip or change the more time-consuming ones, not do further research, do a 5-day schedule, work through the summer....all sorts of things! They list 'required' or 'don't miss' selections then have a list of 'if you have extra time read these. Again, it all depends on the child as to whether extra lit would be too much or not.
Thanks for this. : ) The more I think about it, the more I am thinking of making it a one year. I'm hoping to use MFW WHL next year for 10th grade, since the world history with BF (for 9th grade) is so tied into American history.

We have a library that has a very tiny working budget, so I donate books to them routinely. I even purchase books at second hand to donate to them. One of the librarians homeschooled her kids and really does an excellent job with keeping good books on the shelves, so I know when I donate, it will be appreciated. Just knowing that other homeschoolers in our area will use the books makes it much easier to part with them.

I thought it interesting also that it is a two year course. We will be using parts I and II along with LLATL Gold American lit. My plan is to see how the assignments go and tweak as necessary. We *may* try and use it as a one year course but it will depend on how my dd handles the BF lit and LLATL lit at the same time. Some of the assignments in the BF guide look fairly time consuming and there are numerous options given for further study, research reports, etc.

I vote siding also. But if you see dry rot, keep in mind you may have some issues to deal with once you remove the siding.
We are in the market for a home and walked away from an awesome house last week because of siding/rot issues. I absolutely would never, ever purchase a home that had siding that was rotten. Too many unknowns. So that is why I voted for siding.
Not only that, but I would hesitate to put anyone on ladders to scrape and paint a three story. Professional siders will have the proper equipment and know how to be safe about it.

We have 9 acres and are in the process of selling. We live in farm country and we have to keep it all mowed because the weeds and grass will take over. We have no animals to eat it down and don't want any. When we purchased, we did not take into account the cost of equipment to maintain the place. We burned through a riding mower and three other push mowers...in fourteen months.
It is a ton of work. Constant upkeep in the spring/summer/fall...I'm exhausted all the time and homeschooling has suffered for it.
I can hardly wait to move to town. My body will thank me for it. :laugh:

How is History Odyssey?
ETA: I ask because the sample I looked at appeared to be a schedule that included many of the books people were recommending.
I forgot all about HO when I was researching for next year. lol! too late now...I already made all my purchases.
I did look at it a year or so ago and it looked really intriguing, but I don't have an answer for you because I've not used it.

I have always been intrigued by the Mystery of History just because of the name. I teach History as a grand story of man and especially the ancients as a mystery.
The name intrigued me too. :laugh:
I orderd MOH a number of years ago and did not like it at.all. I don't know why because I purchased the revised version for my ds next year and really like the looks of it. He needs history to be short and sweet and the extra CD has hands on activities. Really the only thing he wants me to read about are cowboys, the old west, and kids during that time period. : ) I am hoping that MOH changes all that and causes him to want to know more about other time periods. We shall see. : )

We have used a large mixture of books, various history encyclopedias, historical fiction, non-fiction, as well as Christian based texts.
IMO the best way to get a good overall picture of history is to use a wide variety of books from varying viewpoints.
Edited to add: I guess I better give some examples. :laugh:
Usborne encycopedias of history, books used in Sonlight, MFW, and Veritas, Landmark, BJU texts, and a whole bunch of library books. We also watched A History of US DVD series (I think that is what it is called...) that was given out free a couple years ago. And we ordered, but haven't yet watched American Heritage DVD series, which discusses the relationship between our country's founders and Christianity. We've used Beautiful Feet books, D'aulaire, and will be using Hakim this coming year. I really do try to vary things quite a lot.

I would keep the creamer and sugar bowl to display somewhere and ditch the rest. Someone else can be blessed by the china (and handwash it all!).
I gave away an entire 12 piece place setting years ago. It was given to me and had no sentimental value...we toted it around in boxes for 4 or 5 years and never once used it so I decided to ditch it all. I've not once regretted it.

We loved P4/5! My dd, who was 8 at the time, insisted firmly that she be allowed to sit in on the stories. : )
We ended up holding onto that core for an additional year and re-reading all the favorites.
