  1. Definitely a foot Dr. At 8 years old, she should not be in pain like this. 8 year olds tend to bounce back really quickly. My son had odd foot pain and he was diagnosed with a rare foot problem that needed surgery. We are so glad we went to a specialist that was able to help.
  2. Immediately after? It makes me really nervous. Pregnancy and babies are enormous life changes. But, ultimately, I come to the conclusion of more family, more love, children are wonderful, and we will make it work. Just because something makes life harder doesn't mean it can't be wonderful too.
  3. Hugs. It will get better. And, I totally agree with you on chore charts. Sigh. Honestly, with professionals sometimes you just have to realize that not everything they recommend will work for your family, But, hopefully, something positive will come out of it. You are there because something needs improvement, so keep trying and just quietly ignore what you know won't work.
  4. DD woke up and started vomiting at about 4:00 am. I did check her pupils then and they were fine. I made the decision to wait until morning and see how she was when fully awake. So, this morning when she woke up, she seems much much better. She reports that she feels better, her head does not hurt. She is walking and talking fine. I talked to the nurse at the pediatrician's office whose gut feeling is the same as mine, that most likely she is fine. But, we do have an appointment in the early afternoon just to check things out with the Dr. So, right now, I am thinking that DD had some stomach virus. When she went to take the hot shower something happened (low blood pressure, like Jean and Pawz and others suggested?) which caused her to pass out. But, I am making a guess that she does not have a concussion.
  5. Well, definitely a normal time for her to sleep. And, no urgent Care is open right now. It would have to be ER. My gut reaction is to wait until morning, but it doesn't stop me from worrying.
  6. I'm not certain about her blood pressure. That has never been on our radar before. But, it definitely is something to consider. She was able to talk fairly clearly about what happened, but was super upset. So, we just put cold pack on the back of her head and she is now asleep.
  7. Dd, age sixteen, fainted tonight on the bathroom. Apparently, she hadn't been feeling great most of the day, but not awful either. She went to take a shower, like she normally does before bed but passed out as she was getting out of the shower. She doesn't remember anything but waking up on the floor. We actually don't know for how long she was out either. Apparently, she hit the back of her head because it is hurting. And, I'm worried. She is fast asleep, so I don't think there is really anything to do right now. But, how do I know when or if it is serious? I'm assuming I can let her sleep until morning and then make an assessment? I hate worrying about children. I also hate worrying about them when they are asleep.
  8. I agree with Maize. Lots of walking needs old comfy shoes. I also agree with the blisters with lots of walking and brand new shoes.
  9. Thanks for letting us know!
  10. Hugs. Sorry. Being 37+ weeks pregnant is awful.
  11. Personally, I would go for it. It looks cute.
  12. Yep.....abandon the house. That would have freaked me out so much I would have nightmares for months!
  13. My son was about six when he did something similar. He ended up being constipated.
  14. This is not your problem. I would keep my mouth shut. Just because a child is thin doesn't mean there is anything wrong. I looked back at records and my 14 year old was 5'3" and 87 pounds at the time. He is perfectly fine. At 19 he is still thin, but filled in some. There are skinny people in our family. Your meddling would make me Highly irritated. So, please stop speaking up about someone that is not your child. If you have expressed concern once than that is enough.
  15. Yes! Please update when you have a chance.
  16. Hugs. Senior Care is so very hard. Big hugs to your husband for his support. 😠Senior Care is most generally long term. So, however you get through this week with all the craziness is good. Hugs. You will make it through the craziness! But, yes, long term solutions can be hard. We ended up hiring a caregiver from care.com This worked better than hiring a person from a company for us. We don't have it all figured out, I wish we did. But, hiring a part time caregiver was very helpful to us. Sometimes home health will be covered by Medicare. But, we were only able to qualify for about 10 weeks before they re revaluated and we didn't qualify anymore. Maybe others will be off more help.
  17. Some of the newer fun games I've played are Quixx - Grab and go and play in 15-20 minutes Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle - Takes more time, but is cooperative and the family works as a team. For me, this cooperative game is more fun than others like Pandemic and Forbidden Island Classics: Apples to Apples Hearts
  18. Help me think this through. MIL is 90 years old, and is now incontinent. She wears Depends, but sometimes has had leaks, so urine has gotten into the sofa cushions. SO, we need to do something with the sofa. MIL does not want a new sofa. She loves her sofa, and any and all change is hard for her these days. So, we are considering upholstering her sofa. Do we upholster it in basically the same fabric (which is what MIL wants and would make her very happy) OR Do we upholster it in something waterproof-ish? (which would be an awkward conversation and I know she wouldn't like it) I am leaning toward upholstering it in the same fabric because this is her house and her sofa and it would make her happy at 90 years old. But, I need ideas on how to keep it from becoming soiled. Are there any waterproof pads that would look nice to put on top of the sofa and then wash them? I can't seem to find any that look nice to put on the sofa.... What have others done in this situation? Thanks for the ideas.
  19. Hello all, Ever since the SAT changed into its new format, I find it very difficult to try to convert scores. It used to be so easy! I'm not a fan of the new scoring system. So, the PSAT is out of 1520 now, the SAT 1600. How do I convert scores to compare between the two of them. For instance, DS took an SAT practice test and got a 650 on the math portion. How does that convert over to the PSAT score? Thanks for your help!
  20. I also switched to Republic Wireless. There is no contract, but they only have certain phones that work. We have been very happy.
