  1. Has anyone used both Lial's and Chalk Dust for Algebra 2 and could give your opinion? Also, is there anywhere I can see a sample of Lial's Intermediate Algebra??? I can't find it anywhere. I would love to see a page or two to see what it looks like. :)
  2. Yes...."daily lessons" as in the daily work they have to do. Like in Teaching Textbooks, they only have daily lessons and tests. I don't think there are quizzes or semester exams or anything like that. Just daily work and tests.
  3. I need some input on what weight to assign my children's math grades. They each have scores of daily lessons and tests. Should tests count more? Like 60% and daily lessons 40%? Or should daily work count more?? Looking for suggestions! Thanks!
  4. Okay, thanks!! :) I never got an email today, so I bet I will have to wait until Monday....I doubt if they are open on the weekend.
  5. I have never used BJU DLO (online option). I bought Fundamentals of Literature yesterday with the $99 special they are having. I assumed I would buy it and then immediately be able to use it. But after I ordered, I got an email that said I would be emailed a code after my order was processed. But as of this afternoon, I still haven't received anything! Does anyone know how long it takes to get to be able to use it? I was hoping to be able for my DD to use it on Monday. (I didn't buy the whole kit....I already have the textbooks)
  6. Crystal, I looked at the link to the lapbook. That will work perfectly since we can't get the notebook. Thank you so much for the info about it!!!
  7. Thank you so much!! We have used the notebooking journals for all the Apologia courses, so I just wanted to continue. It's easier for me to grade, too. But oh well! Thank you, Crystal, for the link! I will check it out! :)
  8. Does anyone know if the Apologia Chemistry 3rd edition Student Notebook will work with the 2nd edition text? I can't find a 2nd ed. Student Notebook, but we have the 2nd ed. text. Thank you!!
  9. Is Teaching the Classics something they can do by themselves? Or do I need to teach it every day?
  10. My rising 9th and 10th graders *really* need help in analyzing literature! I have a 4 1/2 year old "wild child", so it's difficult to find a long stretch of time to sit with them and teach it. I was wondering if there was a DVD course or an online course that teaches how to analyze literature (preferably from a Christian worldview) and teaches the literary elements. I was thinking of BJU DVD's....?? I have some Landry Academy generics, but I believe the lit classes are full. What other options are there?? These are my first high schoolers, so I am not very knowledgable in all of the high school offerings. :) Thank you for your help!!
  11. I asked about a German class the other day, and several people recommended OSU online German class. I looked it up and I think it looks good. I told my son about the website saying that he would have to do a phone call with the instructor once a week to practice his German. He is terrified of doing that!! So I wanted to ask if someone could tell me more about the phone call once a week.....how long is the phone call? Is it every week? Is it as bad as my son is imagining it to be? LOL!!
  12. Thank you all! Question about OSU: My son is an absolute novice at German. Would this course be too hard for him? Thank you, Keep It Going! I peeked at your website, and I will go through all of the resources you recommended! :)
  13. My DS wants to learn German for his foreign language in high school. He will be in 9th grade. He's never had German before. I have no idea what to buy for him that is high school credit worthy! Is Power Glide a good course??
  14. Oh, okay, I see. Thank you for the info! :)
  15. I need some experienced IEW users to please chime in.....what Student Intensive should I buy? I have a 7th and 8th grader with very little formal writing experience. They fall into the SWI B grade range, but I'm wondering if they should start with SWI A, since they don't have much experience. What do ya'll think?
  16. This is driving me crazy! My "enter" button will not work in this forum!!! Does anyone have a clue why??? This is the only place it does not work.
  17. I have no feedback either. I used to have all positives and now it's just zero! When will this get resolved?
  18. Thank you, tarahillmom! Great idea to check out the high school board!! :)
  19. Thank you, Oh Elizabeth! You helped me with another question about my 8th grader who wants to be a scientist, too. :) I am getting more intrigued by BJU now!! I wish I had looked at it while I was at the Teaching Them Diligently convention this past weekend! I have *so* much science curriculum thinking to do....my brain is hurting!! LOL!
  20. Wow, OhElizabeth....thank you! You've given me a lot to think about (in a good way!). :) I will try to respond but *please* forgive this one large paragraph. For some reason, WTM will not let me use my "enter" key when writing! But I promise, I do know how to write in paragraphs! LOL!! 1) The life circumstances I was talking about was a while back. I had major back surgery that put us behind and then, 3 years ago, I had a difficult pregnancy. But everything is fine now, thank goodness. 2) What do you mean by MUS not going to get him where he wants to go? Do you mean that he's too far behind in MUS or do you mean that MUS is not a rigorous enough math program? 3) What if he did the BJU Life Science this fall? Would his math skills be enough for that? (sigh) I am praying I make the right decision. I don't want to be the reason he can't achieve his goals.
  21. My DD will be 12 when she starts 7th grade this fall. She struggles a little in reading and math. She has been doing a few years of the Apologia Elementary series and has done pretty well with that. I am wondering what science to put her in for this fall. My DS just did Apologia General this year, and I *know* there is no way my DD can do that level of science right now. But I know I need to get her prepared for high school, too. Ugh! She has no plans for college (she hates school) but I know that could change at any time. :) So I am wondering what options we have for science for 7th that might fit her better than Apologia General. I've thought of BJU and do the DVD option, Rainbow science, Exploration Education, or Sonlight F (which might be too easy, I'm not sure - we just haven't studied the human body much so I thought that might be good). Any other ideas? Any opinions on what I've listed? Thank you!!!
