  1. Where can I find free lessons and worksheets for LA? I have lots of other free sites but not a lot of LA. We are working on 4th-6th grade LA. Thanks:grouphug:
  2. I know there are some great websites for already made math sheets and I think you can creat your own on some. Maybe it will help. www.dadsworksheets.comn, www.homeschoolmath.net, www.mathisfun.com love this site we use the mental trainer everyday. www.themathworksheets.com, www.theteacherscorner.net. Good luck.:grouphug:
  3. I would be really interested in what states you are in that get negative responses for hmsling?:bigear:
  4. :hurray::lol::lol: I had to share how much I loved your response. I haven't had the courage either. lol. I get tired of some of the comments and responses but I always say home school and I am proud to say so. If they only knew what their kids really knew.:001_huh: Still laughing.
  5. We had our 1st day today. I decided this year we where putting God and learning about the bible and how to have a relationship with him first. Praise God it went well. We decided to even do a schedule this year, as I hate mornings. lol We started out with just review and ds did Timez Attack and Math trainer (Math is fun.com) He really enjoys those thanks to this forum. I feel really good about what we covered and just really want to go slow. Dear ds still has problems with trying to talk his way out of work. He is going to be a salesmen I know. Plus I am a pushover, fighting that this year trying to stick to my guns. Love to be able to share my day as well as read about everyone else. Praying for all of us and another good day. One day at a time.:tongue_smilie:
  6. My ds had problems with his facts adding, subtracting, and multiplication. Got to say love the free download to Timez Attack and so does he. He also loves the free mental math with Mathisfun and it is free and he can work on any of the facts +,-,x,division long and short, fractions and plenty others. We just started the addition and he loves to challenge himself. My ds is 11 if that helps. He just never mastered these things in PS and I will take as much time to help him know his facts and you can't beat free. If you need any help finding these sites please let me know. This board is who helped me with the problems. Good luck and don't stress. I can tell you since my panic attack is over.
  7. Bless you!! Thanks so much for taking from your time to share it is so appreciated.
  8. Thanks that was very helpful I appreciate you taking the time.
  9. Can you tell me what you mean by skipping the writing parts (do you mean in the individual lessons or the lessons that are about writing? Thanks I am working on my grammar issues and I have a writing program and usually do R&S orally but was going to start doing the written on a white board, with that said I was wondering if you meant skip the lessons that teach writing and if so is that is the ones with the stars beside them?:001_huh:
  10. Thanks for all your imput I appreciate it so much.
  11. Thanks to be honest I never thought of that approach. I really appreciate you and everyone that has helped me. I am blessed to have time for one on one but also trying to encourage some independent learning. I will also try the whiteboard for the written parts. Thanks again.:tongue_smilie:
  12. Thanks Starrbuck12 all this is very helpful that is why I love this forum. You get to hear how something has or hasn't worked for others and why.
  13. :bigear: Love to hear schedules and please don't make it better then it is for those of us who don't have it together yet.
  14. I can't believe all those bright minds can't take the idea of putting straw on the oil which soaks it up. I guess that doesn't make sense to them. A lot of people have turned away from caring about others and just focused on themselves or only on things that affect them personally.
  15. If your dc didn't finish the 4th grade R&S, then there really isn't necessarily a reason to change. R&S's English series is excellent, but of course your dc has to complete a text before you can make a judgement on its efficacy...and probably more than one year, really. Easy Grammar is my favorite, but it doesn't include any writing, or using reference material, or anything else--only grammar, punctuation and capitalization. If you want writing, you should probably just stay with R&S. It is very rare that I can send him off to read and learn on his own. We are a lot of one on one I figured I wouldn't worry about independent learning so much now but try and move closer to it as he gets older. He loves R&S I think it is because we do everything orally even all the writing because we have a writing program. So do you think with that said I should just continue with R&S 4?
  16. Can anyone tell me what they think of CLE compared to R&S?
  17. Thanks Robyn you dc sound like mine. It is very rare that I can send him off to read and learn on his own. We are a lot of one on one I figured I wouldn't worry about independent learning so much now but try and move closer to it as he gets older. He loves R&S I think it is because we do everything orally even all the writing because we have a writing program. Do you think this is ok and he will learn if we just continue with R&S 4? Thanks again for your time and input it means a lot.
  18. Lolly, Thanks for your imput. I have another questions for you. I already purchased R&S 5 a while back after I purchased R&S 4 anyway what I am trying to say is I was looking at 5 tonight and it seems on the oral reviews to refer to things learned in the 4th grade. I am on lesson 44 in R&S 4 what is your thoughts on that. Again thanks for taking the time to share with me.:)
  19. My ds is going into 6th grade but we started using R&S 4th grade half way through and have not completed it. Wondering what to do? Thanks for your imput and any additional thoughts. I pulled the diagnostic test for LA 100-400 wondering if I should test him their. He loves R&S because we do everything orally but I am not sure he is learning the basics of grammar.
  20. My ds is suppose to be a sixth grader next year he passed the PASS test with Average but needed to work on his grammar because of some low scores in some areas. We where told R&S was advanced so we choose R&S 4th for 5th grade and haven't even gotten half way through. Would you recommend sticking with R&S and if so would you complete 4th or go ahead to 5th or 6th? Thanks for your imput I really need some help.:)
  21. Will you tell me what you think of CLE for English (Grammar) and your experience with it good or bad. Is it an advanced program? Thanks
  22. Thanks everyone. Unfortunately I think I am more confused then before.
