  2. Hee! I was so worried about this. Luckily my son was a bit wary of having a "strange fairy woman" in his room and it took very little convincing that the tooth fairy could get the tooth and leave the loot if the tooth was on the kitchen counter.
  3. I solved the fridge thing when we found a stainless steel one in the scratch and dent section of a local store. It won't hold magnets, so I have a tiny space on the side for kitchen thermometer and that's it. Now everyone gets to look at fingerprints instead.
  4. The Twilight book I read 3 times while I was pregnant because I couldn't handle anything requiring thought or emotional involvement is on a shelf in my room. So is a book about leaving Christianity/faith and that's because I don't WANT to talk about it. I also keep my Mitford series in my room so I can grab one when I'm sick or lazy-guess that's not private though, just convenient. Now that my son is reading and has friends who read over, I'm slowly moving books I'm not ready for him to grab off the shelf yet. Not private, but not for 6-8 year olds either.
  5. I really loved Emily's story. The whole thing was so well done and interesting. I have a son who would love to go to one of her tours at the whaling museum. I loved that Paris found a way to combine her interests in medicine and law. I loved getting updates on Doyle and Michel. I liked that Emily finally found a maid to keep employed and that it was Lorelai who couldn't keep an employee this time around. I thought they handled the death of Richard well and was a respectful nod to Edward Herrman. I was happy we got to see a wedding for Luke and Lorelai. I liked that Lane seemed happy and found ways to still play music, but I missed hearing more about her life. The musical, the pool scene, and the whole Life and Death Brigade dragged on too long for me. I was a little disappointed that they seemed to show that Jess WAS still infatuated with Rory. His character seemed to have matured a lot and I thought it would be nice if he got more than being portrayed as still in love with a high school girlfriend. I don't know if we'll see more, but I think they left it open ended enough to bring it back. I am guessing it would be more of a focus on Rory as a mother to her own Gilmore daughter. I was surprised Rory didn't have a trust fund. Her great grandmother was supposed to have one for her and Lorelai indicated it was around 250,000. Maybe that's how she rented a place in New York while freelancing for several years? I don't know enough about the NY rental market or freelance pay to know if that makes sense. It seemed like Logan's character regressed or they just threw out his character development in season 7 to tell the story they wanted to tell. These are nitpicks and, all in all, I liked it and was happy to see more.
  6. I have never heard of this, but I love a sweet and salty combo. Do you dip it like some dip an Oreo in milk?
  7. Rory's job and relationship issues made sense to me based on what I remember from the series. She had trouble with her class load and adjusting to Yale, she drifts back into a "relationship" with married Dean, sleeps with him, fights with her mom, panics, and takes a free trip to Europe while ignoring her problems at home. Told by Mitchum she doesn't have what it takes to be a journalist, steals a yacht, fights with her mom, drops out of school, and moves in with her grandparents and attempts to avoid dealing with any of her actual issues. Has trouble getting steady work as a journalist, ends up in a "relationship" with an engaged ex, turns down an acceptable offer of employment from Chilton, ignores the website until she's desperate and then goes in with no preparation whatsoever expecting to be handed a job, and ends up deciding to crash back at home with some vague plan to figure things out. I feel like she kind of crashes whenever she's faced with not succeeding the first time around and she has plenty of people who are willing to prop her up financially and otherwise, so it takes her awhile to realize the only way out of whatever rut she's in is to get her own ass in gear and work.
  8. What a great night! Great game! Great team! We're all so happy here!!
  9. I wouldn't be cranky about it, but I do understand wanting to see the ceremony. I'm sure people who do this have reasons that are important or meaningful and I wish them well. I don't attend weddings where I'm the B list though, so I would send regrets and not go. I wouldn't waste any energy being upset though, the bride and groom are probably quite happy about their day going the way they want it.
  10. I'm a huge Cubs fan. I've been watching and cheering all season! This year is extra special. My dad is also a huge fan, has been since childhood. He remembers cutting school to go down to Wrigley and watch games. He has Alzheimer's but is still mid stage and is loving see his team do so well.
  11. DS will be Bill(?) from Gravity Falls(?) and DD is going to be Owlette from PJ Masks. DH bought a mask and cape for the Owlette costume and made a logo out of iron on vinyl for a red hoodie he found. DH and DS made the Bill costume out of posterboard. They bought a black hoodie and a top hat from the ARC. They did more stuff stuff. I have to buy sweatpants for each that match their costumes and that's my only contribution to Halloween costumes. Which I love. :)
  12. It has to be genes. Or luck. I don't regularly exercise, I eat okay (ish), I don't use hand sanitzer, my housekeeping standards are meh, one or both of my kids go to preschool, MOPS, enrichment programs, regular playdates, Scouts, dance, and karate and... I am almost never sick. My kids are the same. They have had minor colds about once a year that lasts a day or two. One of them has had one ear infection. Once a year we end up with the 24 hour "stomach flu". We haven't yet ever had really nasty colds, the flu(though I do get us all flu shots), strep, or anything like that. It can't be sleep, my daughter barely slept the first 3 years of her life so I didn't either. I was near crazy, but still didn't get sick.
  13. Ds just joined Cubs Scouts as a Wolf and is getting his Bobcat tonight. He's also learning how to sell popcorn and all about the importance of popcorn. ;)
  14. I think a Grandma shower is a sweet idea for co-workers who like each other and know that Grandma is excited and will be helping with the babies. I can relate to having a co-worker who (I think) is a complete pill. I think you're wrong in being upset that co-worker you know didn't buy a gift. You don't have to like her, but she came in and participated politely. If she never actually agreed to help throw a small shower or buy a gift than she's in the clear and I think you're reacting to other thinks you dislike about her. She could have just bought a $5 bib, but she didn't and she wasn't obligated. She wasn't rude, she didn't ignore the party, or make comments. Really all she did was not participate the way you wanted her to. I'd let it go and be happy that your co-worker enjoyed the shower.
  15. Yeah, my kids go for check ups, but they've never had the flu, strep, ear infections, chicken pox, pink eye, or anything that would necessitate visits. My son has had a GI bug once, but it was a 24 hour one so we didn't have to take him in. We go for check ups partially just to have medical care documented.
  16. Hmm. That would remind of a LARP-er or cosplayer who just can't turn it off or wants everyone to know their true love for blah, blah, blah. Like, there's a time and a place to be Bayonetta*, a vampire, or Samus* and that's not when you're waiting tables, bagging groceries, advising me on my on life insurance, or taking my kid's blood pressure. * I pulled these exampled out of thin air. I'm 34 and pretty out of touch, real kids are probably dressing up as characters I've never heard of.
  17. Each consultant buys clothes at a wholesale cost from the company, but has no say in the patterns that she gets. Only the styles and sizes. They usually host in home parties renamed pop up boutiques or post to albums on their Facebook sales page or a multi consultant deal that they join. If you browse Facebook on a computer go to the consultant's sales page and find where they post pictures, they generally put albums of each style. I like the clothing OK, but I hate that they all have to be handwashed or delicate washed and laid flat to dry.
  18. ((Hugs)) I had "help" in the form of my in-laws after DS arrived. It was miserable. My first baby, I was post partum, post c-section, on pain pills, exhausted, and hormonal. It wasn't a great situation at all. When DD arrived I banned any visitors who were staying longer than a few hours for the first month. Don't feel bad about it at all!
  19. I can not even look at My Father's World or Heart of Dakota because of their fans. For the longest time, if someone said they had tried one and it didn't work, was too light, not their style, or whatever then tons of people would come out of the woodwork to disagree with every single point and seemed to take it personally if the person who didn't like it continued to politely disagree with them. Ugh!
  20. The ones that put down public schooling really make me uncomfortable and annoyed. I know some GREAT kids who are or have been in public and private school.
  21. I think Money Saving Mom has tutorials on starting a blog and earning income from it. I'd read and research before I started a blog to try and earn money from. I am pretty sure you'll need a camera or phone to take and post post quality pictures regularly. I'm pretty sure most succesful bloggers start out posting several times per week.
  22. You could thrift and resell outfits? There's a woman who makes extra money thrifting brand name or in great condition plus size clothes and reselling them on a local plus size buy/sell Facebook page. Could you offer personal shopper services to woman and go with them to stores to help them put outfits together that flatter them? This is a service I would pay for....but I don't know how many woman are like me. I routinely pay $20-60 per article of clothing and still don't really know how to look put together.
  23. I know NBC's TV coverage is getting widely panned, but I am loving all the live streaming on their app. I have also really been loving watching the kayaking. I'll never be an athletic kayaker, but it sure looks like a fun hobby to take up.
  24. Yes, I know. Both of my posts were in reply the questions regarding having a log in for a cable or satellite provider.
