  1. I’ve only lived in homes on a slab foundation. We bought our first home in 2004, and since then we have never had problems with plumbing. Now I feel like I need to knock on wood.
  2. That’s interesting. Every house we’ve lived in has a slab foundation. Three have had wood floors. Also, we had showers in all those houses as well.
  3. Thank you for voting and for stating the reasons for your vote. I feel exactly as y’all feel. I think they’re impractical in a master bathroom. I could see installing one in a half bath. Or maybe in a master bathroom with two separate vanities, I’d put an under mount sink for the woman and an above mount sink for the man. I think it could come in handy for shaving?
  4. I need your help. We are remodeling a house, and my husband and I disagree on what type of sink to install. Please choose your preference.
  5. DD17 has been home from school for two days with a sore throat (6 on a scale of 1-10), headache (8/10), vomiting (1x ea. day), nausea (6 out of 10) and a low grade fever. I put her pain rating in parentheses. Ibuprofen helps a little. What else can I do to make her comfortable? If she’s not better in the morning, I’m going to try to get her in to the Dr.
  6. I use Shipt. Both my husband and I are pretty pleased with the service and are willing to pay extra to avoid long trips to the grocery store. For me, it's not actually the shopping that I loathe, it's the loading and unloading of groceries for a family of seven. We mainly use it for everything except most meats and produce. On average the bill comes out to around $65. How much should I tip? I usually tip between $5 and $10. Is this too little or too much? If you use a similar service, how much do you tip the grocery delivery person?
  7. My kids love to play Monster. They will turn off the lights and crawl into my bed. Then DH and/or I will come in and scare them. Even the big kids will still get in on the game. We also play a variation where DH is the shark and the kids are on the boat/bed. I don’t recall my parents doing this, though my dad was very playful and wrestled with us.
  8. I saw that they contained acids like aha and was surprised not to read anything about sun protection in the information. Granted I don’t have the actual bottle in hand and was just reading off of the website. If applied at night, do I still need to be vigilant about sunscreen the next day?
  9. Checking this one out too. I might try applying Gold Bond to one arm and the cetaphil/amlactin mixture to the other arm to see which works best for my son.
  10. Which bottle of AmLactin should I order? The purple, blue, or green? Also, the only time I’ve used cetaphil was when my kids had lice. It was more of a soap than a lotion if I recall correctly - it was almost ten years ago.
  11. I’ll check out the am-lacyin/cetaphil combo. Thank you for sharing Arctic Mama. Selkie, my son is the pickiest eater; he would starve if I removed gluten from his diet. Still it’s something to think about.
  12. My son and youngest daughter have this. My son’s condition is much worse, and I’d like recommendations for products that work best. I’m able to keep my daughter’s skin moisturized with Eucerin intensive repair lotion, which the doctor suggested trying. Unfortunately my son’s skin hasn’t seen any improvement using this product. Edited to correct the name of the lotion I’ve tried.
  13. The instant pot and a toy I ordered on Black Friday have yet to arrive. I got notice that if it wasn’t delivered by 12/1, it was probably lost and I could either get a replacement or refund. My replacement order is due by 8 pm today. We shall see if it arrives. UPS is usually very good in our area. I was surprised that I had this problem. And it makes me worried to order anything after this week in case I have the same problem.
  14. I was just telling my fiends with other day that I wish someone had told me that the more capable my kids would get, the less they’d want to help out. In other words, don’t count on the fact that your kids will be helping you out more when they have more skills, because they will have less time and self motivation to help out as much as you think they will.
  15. Also, I haven’t figured out how to get it to play audible books. I’m hopeless.
  16. We use it for music, timers and reminders. Sometimes I’ll play jeopardy when I’m cooking. It’s supposed to be able to adjust our thermostat, but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. I’m interested in how the pp uses it to check on the kids while out. I’d love that feature.
  17. I honestly couldn’t tell you. My kids said you can play games with it using blocks and you can get it to say your name. For $150 it had better do more than that. Clearly I need to research this toy, lol.
  18. Thanks for the input. I’m not going to dismiss it entirely this year.
  19. My kids have been asking for one for over a year. I don’t want to buy anything that is going to be played with for a day and then forgotten like the stupid annoying Hatchimals they had to have last year. Is this a toy worth buying?
  20. Family of 7 driving a Suburban. We’ve had minivans and smaller suv’s. This is by far the best option for us.
  21. Thank you. As I suspected, I agree with your answers. My friend's daughter confided in me and her mom about her fiancée and his excessive questioning. I felt like anything beyond number of partners, any STDs, and general information is good enough to share. Her mom didn't see anything wrong with the types of questions. I wanted to see if you all agreed with me or my friend. The girl is now rethinking being engaged to this guy.
  22. So what if one person wants to know all the gory details, but the other wants to keep it to him/herself. Is the person obligated to divulge? This is assuming no STDs or anything that would put the other partner's health in jeopardy.
  23. Should the following be mandatory to disclose: Past relationships Number of sexual partners Details about sexual experiences (how many times total, positions, places, protection used, one night stands, etc.) Sexual abuse in the past What is okay to keep to oneself? Thanks in advance for answering. I will explain my questions later.
  24. I understand the point you're trying to make, and I'm sorry you had that experience. My daughter was in the hospital for three nights last winter, and that was not our experience at all. She had a team of two nurses, one who attended to her as needed and another who came in every two to four hours to input data as dictated by the other nurse. All of her needs were either met or exceeded.
