  1. No experience with that specific doctor's protocol, but my mom went raw vegan to heal her thyroid cancer. She was also a bit overweight and had Hashimoto's...not surprising considering she was eating the Standard American Diet. The doctor wanted to take her thyroid out and do radiation ASAP, which she declined. The first few months after diagnosis, she was just drinking green juice and eating raw green salads while she took a deep-dive into credible alternative treatments since no oncologist would offer any treatment other than surgery and radiation. She got down to her ideal weight, all markers stabilized to a normal range, and had no signs of cancer after just three months. Her primary care doctor said it was a miracle. All of her blood work was great (staying on a mostly raw, all vegan diet) for about 10 years and then my brother got into an accident and was paralyzed. She has been his only caregiver for three years which has caused massive stress and decreased sleep due to turning him every two hours at night. Survival mode has taken over, and her eating has taken a nose-dive causing her Hashi flare up again. Food is monumental to health! Unfortunately, one must stay on top of it to keep healthy, which is exhausting at times. The more I read up on epigenetics, the more I try to instill in my children the importance of staying healthy because their genes are not great (I also have Hashi and manage it well through diet and lifestyle). Best wishes on your journey to healing.
  2. I grew up in the southeast on a beach. IMO, bikinis are always appropriate, kids or no kids. Going into a store off the beach in just a bikini, no cover-up/shoes, was commonplace. I guess it all depends on what you're used to.
  3. Not just to lewelma... Sweden went for the individual approach and, at the same time, didn't mask. Their numbers, for many different reasons, are not astronomical. I don't think not masking is necessarily "Trumpian republicanism." Up until late this spring/early this summer, community masking was said (by WHO, CDC, etc) to have little to no statistically significant decreases in laboratory-confirmed ILIs. California implemented some pretty strict mask mandates mid-June, using more of a team approach, and had a continual steep incline in cases for another 5-6 weeks. Cases didn't really lower until the end of August, and then leveled off mid-September, a full 3 months later after the mask mandate was proclaimed (https://covid19.ca.gov/state-dashboard/). Farr's law is interesting as it applies to this and other viruses. I'm sure there are outbreaks similar to the POTUS situation where people were masked, but I doubt we will hear about them because until there is a savior-vaccine, we have savior-face coverings.
  4. I knew about this (not from this article, but from an interview with him on a podcast, which was more in-depth): https://alphanewsmn.com/minnesota-board-of-medical-practice-dismisses-complaints-against-sen-scott-jensen/ "He said the Board of Medical Practice was investigating two allegations against him, including the spread of misinformation and providing Minnesotans with reckless advice by comparing COVID-19 to the flu. The Board, however, completed its investigation Monday and dismissed the allegations." But now this? https://alphanewsmn.com/sen-jensens-medical-license-threatened-once-again-for-being-a-danger-to-public-health/ "Anonymous complaints filed with the Board of Medical Practice allege that Jensen continues to “mislead” and “lie” to the public about COVID-19, according to a letter he received last week." and "I’ve said this before: if it can happen to me, could it happen to you also?” said Jensen. “This is a danger and I think we need to talk about it. Let’s not kid ourselves. The cancel culture, the muzzling of a perspective that you don’t like – this is happening."
  5. It seems like a lot of cost is administrative. Would this be reduced if there was more control at a local level and less control at a federal level? The PISA scores have been analyzed using factors like how much is spent per student.
  6. Basically, I'm looking forward to hearing what others use for news and social media that is 1.) not cookie-cutter and 2.) doesn't censor differing viewpoints. I got off of Facebook almost two years ago due to censorship and hopped over to MeWe, even though it's not as user-friendly or as populated. FoxNews and CNN get a weekly perusal, but I have found them both lacking in properly-sourced/unbiased articles. I've incorporated independent sites, like Full Measure, and podcasts with news commentary, like The Liberty Report and The Rubin Report, into the mix. Usually the media is just a jumping off point for me to start researching the topic on my own. Over the past few months, I have been staying away from YouTube due to the massive censoring of anything contradicting mainstream media. BitChute is filling a small part of the YouTube void, but I would like other sources if they are out there. I haven't ever used Twitter or Instagram, though if there are alternative sources out there, I might be inclined to try it out :).
  7. Isn't it actually zinc that goes into the cell and prevents virus replication? Since people don't readily absorb it, HCQ or another zinc ionophore, like quercetin, is needed to open the cell and allow the zinc to go in and do it's work. I'm not on here often enough to read through everything that gets posted, so this might have been covered already :).
  8. The studies that show HCWs being protected by wearing a mask and the study below do make me feel better. If others aren't wearing a face covering or are wearing one that has a low efficacy rate for blocking particles, wearing my face covering gives me a high amount of protection. "All types of masks provided a much higher degree of exposure protection against inward transmission of particles, then in preventing outward transmission by a mechanical head as a proxy for an infected patient exposing the environment." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2440799/#pone.0002618-Bootsma1 And this paper reminds me keep my hands away from my face and wash my hands often: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/jpc.14936 "During the pandemics caused by swine flu and by the coronaviruses which caused SARS and MERS, many people in Asia and elsewhere walked around wearing surgical or homemade cotton masks to protect themselves. One danger of doing this is the illusion of protection. Surgical facemasks are designed to be discarded after single use. As they become moist they become porous and no longer protect. Indeed, experiments have shown that surgical and cotton masks do not trap the SARS‐CoV‐2 (COVID‐19) virus, which can be detected on the outer surface of the masks for up to 7 days.7, 8 Thus, a pre‐symptomatic or mildly infected person wearing a facemask for hours without changing it and without washing hands every time they touched the mask could paradoxically increase the risk of infecting others."

  10. Was this the study you researched? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7115556/
  11. It appears that even if students are 100% online, unless they have a medical exemption, they have to get it. The employees who will be on campus will have to get it unless they have a medical exemption. Religious exemption requests will be adjudicated for employees only, not students. https://www.ucop.edu/uc-health/_files/UC Immunization Exemption Policy.pdf https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/2020/08/img/2020-21-flu-vaccination-executive-order.pdf
  12. For any one who is following this: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/wp-content/uploads/09-03-20-U-of-CA-Complaint-with-exhibits.pdf and https://physiciansforinformedconsent.org/physicians-for-informed-consent-sends-cautionary-letter-to-uc-board-of-regents-regarding-its-new-flu-shot-mandate-emphasizes-lack-of-scientific-basis/.
  13. The studies cited in these letters might be helpful in the arsenal of "will it, won't it". https://childrenshealthdefense.org/wp-content/uploads/09-03-20-U-of-CA-Complaint-with-exhibits.pdf https://physiciansforinformedconsent.org/physicians-for-informed-consent-sends-cautionary-letter-to-uc-board-of-regents-regarding-its-new-flu-shot-mandate-emphasizes-lack-of-scientific-basis/ Based on the evidence that it spreads on surfaces, not many are practicing proper mask hygiene, and most states/cities are mandating masks coupled with the probability that we will be testing more for influenza, I think the numbers will be up.
  14. Any one else waiting to see what happens with this? https://childrenshealthdefense.org/wp-content/uploads/MotionforPIcomplete.pdf
  15. Not just for Ausmumof3... If it's spread through aerosol transmission, cloth masks aren't effective, right? Do properly fitted N95 masks prevent the spread of an aerosolized virus?
  16. We moved from the southeast to the PNW four years ago because of my husband's job. People who already lived here sold us on the beautiful scenery and plentiful hiking trails. It didn't take long after we got here to realized we would be moving back to the southeast at some point before retirement. The COL is double what we are used to, the weather is too cold/bleak, and the overall vibe isn't for us. The governor's response to the virus has accelerated our timeline by several years. God willing, we will be moving back down south within the next 6-9 months.
  17. If a vaccine is mandated, like some people think this vaccine will be, people must to get it. Over the past few years, states in the U.S. have been removing the liberty to opt out of any mandated vaccines through religious/philosophical exemptions, leaving only almost-impossible-to-get medical exemptions. If the "winning" vaccine is from a U.S. company, is distributed in the U.S., is mandated by the U.S. government, and causes "unforeseen serious effects", the vaccine manufacturers are not going to feel anything in their profit margins except an increase because their product will be mandated for almost 100% of the country and they will not be liable for any damages caused. Even if the vaccine isn't mandated and gets pulled because it causes too many problems, the U.S. taxpayers have paid out $10,000,000,000 to the manufacturers for off-setting costs and there are still all of the other government-mandated vaccines on the CDC schedule that people can't opt out of to cushion their profit margins. Now, I don't know the climate in other countries, so your statement could be entirely true for a country that doesn't have as many mandated vaccines and holds manufacturers accountable for the harm their products cause.
  18. If I remember correctly, under the PREP Act, the vaccine manufacturers have full immunity to liability. Consumers can't even go through the NVICP if the vaccine causes an injury. https://www.phe.gov/Preparedness/legal/prepact/Pages/COVID19.aspx
  19. It depends on how it was tested (Was there an inert placebo as the control in all phases? Were all adverse effects measured and for a period of more than a few days?) , whether or not it confers an inability to transmit the virus to others (Does it prevent me spreading it to others, protect just me from getting the virus, or just protect me from getting a severe case of the virus?), and how effective it is at creating a meaningful immune response (Was there a measure other than antibodies tested?). Also, I want a vaccine that isn't liability-free since all are being hyper-fast tracked/skipping important testing phases and some of the companies are using never-before-used technology.
  20. Math-U-See does a good job at teaching basic concepts and it’s mastery. There is a short video to watch once a week that explains the concept for the unit, which my dd and I watch together, and an instructor’s manual with added teaching and a fully-worked answer key if we get stuck. If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them. Another option, which I haven’t used but have heard good things about, is Videotext Algebra.
  21. Apologies for the late response; I had family visiting. WA was under stay-home orders until May 31. The phased reopenings that were happening in some counties were still under those orders with very limited allowances. I did find it refreshing to get off here and away from the doom and gloom, so I will not be coming back to the chat board 🙂. https://www.seattletimes.com/life/which-phase-is-your-county-in-and-what-can-you-do-under-the-modified-phase-1-of-washingtons-reopening/
  22. Yes, it is very fortunate, and yes, I understand exponential growth. I also understand closing down for a few weeks to get a handle on the situation. People in my area have been under a SIP order since March 23 and it's still in place. There have been very few cases where I am, an hour away from Seattle, even though for the last eight weeks instead of coming into contact with people at work (a place where contact tracing would be relatively painless), people have been coming into contact with others in droves at grocery stores, Lowes, Target, Walmart, and outside of work. I don't understand closing down a country as big as America all at the same time for almost two months. Most areas were prepared to open up after a month and then maybe people would have taken rolling shutdowns in hotspots a little more seriously and with a better overall outlook. Chicken Little is still a story told to children for a reason. Opening is happening in different times in different states, which I do understand, but the states that are opening up are getting smeared in the mainstream media as places where governors want people to die. I totally get that this is a crazy situation all the way around and hindsight is 20/20.
  23. You mentioned finances and mental health as being possible differentiating factors. I don't have overall stats for the U.S. I was just relaying the one data point and how neither things you mentioned as possibly accounting for the difference between countries are factors for that one hospital. It was in a very young and active population who were essentially told to stay at home, get paid for doing nothing, and isolated for two weeks and then a month and then two months and then...all while watching the media do what the media does. Heck, maybe the difference is the way the media is handling this in different countries? Maybe it is the number of hot spots a country has? There were very few covid patients in my mom's hospital, never more than one at a time. They were all older with poor health to begin with and were discharged within a few days. None of the people under 60-65 who were diagnosed had any reason to be admitted. Almost all of the other health services were put on hold. If it wasn't covid-related or you weren't on the verge of death, you probably weren't getting seen. Her concerns, now that they are starting to open up, are 1. How to manage two months of backlogged appointments on top of current appointments. 2. How much extra care are all of the patients with pre-covid problems going to need because they were deemed non-essential and 3. Catching all of the illnesses, like cancer, that could have been caught and started treatment already. Outside of the few hotspots we have had, I think a lot of the hospitals here are in a similar situation.
  24. My mom works with the military, so there was no loss of income, people were on the younger side, (20s), and all had free access to mental health resources. She speculated that since we are social creatures, keeping individuals isolated for months and months while the goal posts are constantly moving is erasing hope for the future. She said some more about freedoms and oaths, but that's probably not for this forum. I hope the person you know gets the help he/she needs.
  25. Thanks for pointing that out. I was trying to make dinner and thought I could type a few sentences on my phone while doing that. Obviously, multitasking is not something I should do!
