  1. Hi Anyone else seem to hit the wall with their libraries this year? I am lucky if my library has had 1 or 2 of the suggestions in the activity guide. I know I can look for alternatives, but the guide just made it simple. hmmm......
  2. Thanks Bill! Wow, you are right. I should have just searched the forums first before wasting my time with the test video for their online course. It honestly makes me wonder why SWB would even recommend the program in the first place! Does SWB agree with such an approach to education?!
  3. We are very disappointed in Pandia Press! I wish I had chosen another program. I like to have consistency (we have made beautiful notebooks for all subjects during the grammar state) and when we started (3 years ago) thought for sure the Physics 1 would be out. NOPE! So I would not start this series thinking that it will be out by the time you get there, as it has not happened for us. It is a good program and my dc have truly enjoyed it, but not being able to 'finish' is a BIG disappointment. I will never again start a series that is not complete. The fact that Bio 2 is supposedly out later this year says to me that physics is not a priority.
  4. Yes, thanks a bunch. I now have student accounts working! Yippie. I have cleared cache, etc and will keep trying etc! I'm getting closer!
  5. hmmm..... I have set up a classroom, entered the dc names etc, but then it does not tell me how or where to have them log on. I am most frustrated as I have spent several hours on this today! :( Any ideas? Probably does not help that I purchased the Science today and while the Coop charged my card, after several hours I still do not have access to discovery science. Really bummed. Ideas would help so much!! Thanks in advance.
  6. Satori; How did you set up student accounts? From what I can gather it is only available to administrators, something home schoolers do not have access to. I would love to be able to have my dc just log on and click on the videos I have assigned to them. I am just having lots of trouble figuring out how to do that. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  7. I have LOVED all the varied opinions here. It has got me thinking about everything from my own attitude toward the program and how that may come across to the children, to what they may be needing at this point and how to just persevere and follow through anyway. Thank you everyone for the variety of considered, honest responses. This is one reason I love these boards. I will likely finish out the program AND add something else in for 'writing'. I do see dramatic progress from WWE1 to WWE3, but naturally do not see much from only a month ago. I know having the ability to hold lots of information in the mind (dictation) is a skill that takes time to develop and will be immensely helpful later on. It is good to be reminded to not skip out, or rush over the foundations in these early years of education. Thanks again!
  8. my kiddos find it so boring. I do too. It is my least favorite thing to teach. I understand the skills it teaches and think they are important but..... Has anyone just stopped and gone with something else at level 3? I am not looking forward to another year of this. LOL I would love to be convinced to stick with it AND hear from folks that decided to change programs at this juncture. Thanks in advance for the varied opinions and experience!
  9. I know we have high expectations , but do you know how many companies get ripped off by people 'claiming' to have received damaged product when they didn't? I think it is VERY fair to send pictures and actually MOST companies will require you to pay the return shipping or a restocking fee. Companies that can afford to do more usually will especially if they are at fault. I hope most folks don't really follow through with their "That's it! I will never purchase from this company!" reaction because of one persons posted experience over a year old. The DVD worked for us in two days with almost a week of practice in between. We just finished today. I could not be happier.
  10. Does anyone know if Times Tales DVD included the division facts as well? Thanks!
  11. Hi, No, I really mean Discovery Streaming. We can watch it on our computers, but I am wishing there were a hack or way around the media players in both PS3 and the Wii. IE Wii has Opera for a web browser and uses flash for its media player. Discovery streaming also uses Flash, but they do not work together. I would like to find a way to go through the PS3 or the Wii and stream from Discovery Streaming with my account. I can access Disc. Stream. through both the PS3 and Wii, but cannot get the media to play.....
  12. Has anyone figured out how to get discovery streaming to work through a Playstation3 or Nintendo Wii? It would make more sense to me to watch on the big tv than through a computer screen. Any thoughts? Thanks! Julieann
  13. That can be used with Microsoft Word? I have 2010, but I suppose any version would work well. I just need a template to enter schooling pics, vs the insert and format way of doing it. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks!
  14. Hi, I am also interested in the list if anyone can either post or email it!!! I have just stopped discovery streaming and will try netflix for a few months.
  15. Do you know any good sources? Thanks!
  16. My dc grandparents have offered to buy the children laptops! While I have mixed feelings about computers for children, we do use our one computer for many educational things and having more than one would be GREAT. So, with that said, I definitely want a laptop/pc. Any affordable recommendations? Pros and cons of various machines? Any links to reviews? And of course personal experiences would be great! Thanks!
  17. Hi. Just confused here... shopping for next year (I know, I know) From what I can tell for vol 3 the latest is 2004. The text, activity guide, etc all say 2004. The CD (Jim Weiss) says "revised"and the test book is 2007 . I like to get everything and I just want to make sure that the 2007 CD goes with the printed 2004 book, activity guide, and 2007 test book. This is probably not that confusing, and maybe I have been at the computer too long today.... Thanks for any help!
  18. :lurk5: We will be having to make this decision soon too.... looking forward to more replies.
  19. We would LOVE to have those sets too! I wonder if the Homeschool Buyers Co-op could get us in a large group buy? :) Can you imagine... 50% off!!!
  20. We use a variety to keep it interesting: Flashmaster Math Wrap Ups deck of cards: play 'war' with each player putting down two cards. You can choose which operation to use and then the player with the largest sum wins the pot Because Singapore teaches number bonds right away we also mix it up ie _+3=10 vs 7+3=10 this has really helped to cement the relational aspect of numbers on my kiddos. Good luck.
  21. Thank you for your responses! Anyone can feel free to add on if you'd like.....
