  1. He's almost 12 halfway through his 6th grade year.
  2. Are they chirping? Our piggies sometimes chirp. They sound like birds. It only happens occasionally though. I'd separate the new piggie till the scans clear up and double check your he isn't a she.
  3. Finally. Now, should we move on to Latin Alive or do LFC C?
  4. We are through lesson 8. Love, love, love this program! It has made writing for my 3rd grader so wonderful this year!
  5. Still taking notes on Marie. It's taking a long time. Sigh...
  6. I want a pair badly. My feet are cold in the cheapy, knock-off boots I bought at Kohl's. Dh says they are way too expensive. All he sees are dollar signs. I agree they are expensive, but I also know I won't need to buy new boots for several years hopefully. Dh asked me to ask around and see how long they last or how long people have had theirs.
  7. We have fleece in our piggies' cage. I made them out of old fleece blankets we had and uhaul pads. I have 2 complete sets. The boys clean the cage daily. They shake the fleece outside getting as much hay as possible and throw it in the washer. I buy cheap laundry soap especially for the pigs that way they aren't using up all our laundry soap. It is way cheaper than the paper bedding. My biggest complaint about the fleece is that my boys don't get enough of the hay off and often I have hay in my washer. Drives me nuts!!!! :glare:
  8. I'm so tired of homeschooling. There. I said it.

We' ve really scaled back until after Christmas at this point.

  9. After reading through this thread a little more, I think I will also go ahead and order WWS2. It's been on my Amazon wish list for months. I'm not sure we'll skip the last few assignments in WWS1, but I want to see where we are heading too.
  10. So glad I clicked on this thread. The Ceasar paper was awful. Granted, ds had pneumonia while we did it, but the whole process took 3 weeks b/c I had him go back and redo some steps he skipped. We took a different approach to the digestion paper. That turned out much better. I did a ton of hand holding in that paper. I'm hoping this to have to hold ds' hand a little less.
  11. I think hot dogs are disgusting. I can't stand the texture or even the thought of eating something called a weiner. Gross! Men should leave their shirts on when mowing grass or doing yard work. I don't care how cut he is. Why should he proclaim it to the entire neighborhood? I don't see women topless doing yard work. Bathing suits in general are weird. Really, they aren't flattering on the majority of adults. Myself included. I don't get jeans these days. What is a boyfriend jean vs a skinny jean vs boot cut vs low rise and on and on and on? It makes shopping for clothes near impossible. I have more, but I have to go move our "creepy" elf since all my kids are in bed now.
  12. You could have the potato heads put their pieces on the elf like dress up.
  13. My kids look forward to the elf. He's fun and for family it's been a great tradition. I'm sure as they get older they'll outgrow it, so we'll enjoy the elf while we can. We also enjoy our Jesse Tree tradition each evening. We were doing that long before the Elf. People are untitled to their opinions, but it sure seems a lot crankiness is being shared this year about the Elf (here and on FB). Today our Elf is having a snowball fight with Mr. Potato Head. They have forts made out of giant marshmallows. Mr. Potato Head is aiming a marshmallow at the elf.
  14. Our elf, Tinsel, arrives tomorrow with a copy of the movie Elf for family movie night.
  15. Lol! Sounds like my house today. My oldest reads upside-down like that.
  16. He is a patient at the Mayo Clinic and seen at St. Mary's Hospital which is Mayo's Children's Hospital. Given the number of patients they see, I'm sure they must do something for situations like this. It's all new to me though, so I'm trying to find out some answers.
  17. I have a call in to the drs. Hopefully, I'll hear back from them soon. His genetics dr. is extremely prompt in answering our phone calls. The endocrinologist usually takes a day or two. The MRIs are extremely important to his protocol for management of his disease.
  18. Thanks unsinkable and Jeannie in NJ for your perspective. I have 4 orthodontists to choose from and will discuss some options during our consult visits.
  19. Thanks for the quick replies! I had a feeling that he couldn't have them in the MRI machine just based on the questions. Guess my interviewing of orthodontists will be a little more in-depth then.
  20. Ds got a referral to an orthodontist today to start the process of braces. I knew it was coming based on his checkup 6 months ago. However, it brings up a strange question now for us. Ds was diagnosed with a gene mutation this summer that forces him to undergo MRI scans of his head, abdomen, and pelvis every 2 years. He just had his scans done in September. They asked a ton of questions about having metal anywhere in his body. Which brings me to my strange question. Can MRIs be done on a patient with braces? I'm set to call his drs. at Mayo tomorrow, but just curious if anyone might have some experience with a child that had braces and underwent an MRI and what provisions were made if any.
  21. I wonder if Mr. Green stepped in front of the bus or whatever. Maybe his conscience got the better of him for what he did to Anna. It's doubtful though. They have left that storyline open for a little mystery concerning Bates. Although where Green died, is not York where Bates was, yes? Might have to go rewatch that part. I'm glad they ended the story with Ivy, Daisy, and Alfred. Mrs. Pattmore's praise of Daisy was great. I sense that praise is not given out much to the servants. Cora - She seems to be oblivious to the real world. She seemed so ditzy to me in last night's episode. Mosley - I liked the confidence he seemed to gain from Baxter's encouragement. It was like seeing his chest puff up with pride. I could go on, but really I should be teaching my children.
  22. Mary seems to be a man magnet. Seems every new man introduced to the show ends up having some sort of attraction to her. Wonder which one she will fall in love with next? Rose, Rose, Rose...can they just write her off? The story line there is um...uninteresting. I like Aunt Rosamund. She is always a voice of reason.
  23. Any ideas about what they are doing with Maggie Smith's character? The preview shows her to be ill. I'm hoping it's just drama and not some way for her to leave the show. I do love her!
