  1. No it would lower it. She’s taken 11 AP classes and 5 DE so the honors level geometry and Alg 1 along with regular French do her no favors. Again, not trying to be dishonest or hide anything (she made As in all those classes). But it’s not great when classes not taken in high school bring down the high school gpa she worked very hard for.
  2. I appreciate the insight, thank you. Her friends at traditional schools don't have any middle school classes listed on the hs transcript, so I was curious what the burden for homeschoolers was. Admittedly her gpa will drop with the class but doing the right thing is more important. Fwiw, she is an FLVS Flex student but it seems that it's categorized as a ps regardless. Thanks again 🙂
  3. Hoping someone can guide me on a couple of transcript questions. First--high school transcript classes prior to 9th. DD has most of her grades substantiated (FLVS, PAH, DE, etc) but French 1 was taken in 8th grade at FLVS. She took alg 1 and geometry at home so her transcript for math starts with Alg. 2. French 1 is not honors and in my mind the level was definitely middle school. I am submitting the FLVS official transcript so French 1 is on there. Am I required to list it on the high school transcript? I don't want to be deceitful but it will affect overall gpa and she already has the math classes where the "jumped in" at a higher level. Second, could it hurt to attach a DE unofficial transcript? That's the only proof I have to substantiate the grades and I think it would be odd to submit an official transcript to all of those schools she's applying to prior to acceptance. Apologies if this rambles--application deadline time is no joke. Thanks for any advice!
  4. I just reached out to the counselor to ask. She offered yesterday to send it to CA for me so I asked if I could see it. I got confused with the FERPA waiver bit but I'm also totally fine asking all the silly questions 🙂 Thanks again!
  5. Thank you for the replies! Essentially I wonder what I'm "required" to do. In Florida, all test scores are usually on the official transcript, and since she is a homeschooler, not a full time public school student, I didn't want any test scores she didn't want to submit on that FLVS transcript. Since FLVS is a public school, does she has the same requirement to submit an official transcript as a DE student does with the college institution? All of my research hasn't given me a satisfactory answer. My preference would be to just submit the cumulative grade report, as it shows all of the classes, their weight, instructors, and grade. I don't know exactly what additional information they might include on the official transcript (I have spent a lot of time explaining our homeschool methodology, her course load, etc, which explains that she has taken these classes for AP credit). Sorry to ramble and I appreciate your thoughts!
  6. My daughter has taken several AP classes through Florida Virtual School Flex (accredited, but she's still a full time homeschooler). Those classes will be listed accordingly on her transcript along with her other home-based classes, but should I include the unofficial course list with grades from FLVS in the Transcript section of Common App? I planned originally to upload course descriptions and her official transcript; not sure if uploading the FLVS course list will be confusing or if it will instead provide the grade substantiation she's looking for. (I am also assuming that FLVS will not send an official transcript since she is fully a homeschooler?) Thank you so much for any advice you can provide!
