  1. Have you looked at The Creative Writer? I know very little about it, but you may want to look at it. I think it has 18 weeks of poetry. It is so new there is not much info about it though.
  2. I was just getting ready to order spelling workout. I noticed there is a teachers guide. Is this really needed?
  3. So I headed to bed at 11pm. As if timing couldn't have been more perfect my two year old calls for mom. He had thrown up and it dripped behind the bunk bed. Dh and I clean it up dismantling half the bunk bed and put him back to bed. 12pm I climb into bed only to be woken at 3am with someone in my bathroom. It was the two yo again. Potty trained well enought to get up in the middle of the night. He had diareah. So after helping him and putting him back to bed. I hop in bed only to never fall asleep. So I think I'll hop on the boards and finish up my HS plans. I was shocked here it is 4am and there are 70 people on this thread. Maybe it has something to do with the time zone difference, but I still think we are all CRAZY. It is so nice to come to a place where you're not the only one who is crazy. Thank you all for making crazy seem normal.:tongue_smilie:
  4. You guys are so wonderful. I can't believe you've answered so quickly. I'm starting to think I really CAN do this. Thank you for your replys and calm support. With your help I will get my act together. I have my dc watching Blue Planet while I figure this all out. :tongue_smilie:
  5. OK so I swore I wouldn't be one of those moms who obsessed over the cirric so much that I never got to the school part. But I am there and I want to cry because I am so crazy. There is wayyyyyyy to much good out there and I don't know where to start. My kiddos are still young 8, 7, &2. So I don't think I've screwed them up yet. I love WTM and kind of try to follow it. It takes a lot of work it seems. I keep thinking I'll figure it out and then it won't be so hard. I wish I had a million dollars. I want it all! We have a little funds, but not alot. I look at sonlight and want it so bad, because it looks so pretty, but $1,000 per kid is alot. I reread WTM and think I need to just follow this. I'm think I know what to do for LA. Then for history, if I follow Story of the World, I need to just check out the extra books. I always have to interlibraryloan (ILL) them. I just never get to it. My kids love to learn and are begging for more. My oldest loves to read, but I'm not giving her the right books. I keep thinking I need to go through WTM literature suggestions and make a list for the year. But that involves studying each person and trying to pick the best book (Again more work for me). That's why Sonlight is so appealing you get all these wonderful books and then they are always right there. I finally figured out math and I am still debating science. I looked at Noeo, & REAL. I love learning through reading good books, but it doesn't seem like we're doing it. OK I've rambled so much. How do you do it? Someday I'll be the wise old homeschool mom on these boards with all the answers. Please help a greenie.
  6. I think they are all good. Differnt. It totally depends on your child. If you think they will need lots of review and step by step instruction go with Saxon. It really holds your hand. My dd was bored to death so we switched to Singapore. Less review and more advanced. A very good fit for her. Start with something, if it works, stick with it. If they start to hate the subject CHANGE. Don't be affraid to adjust any program to your child. With Saxon. We skipped the parts of the meeting she mastered, only did one side of the work sheet a day and skipped several lessons, because she already knew them. Good luck.
  7. Thank you so much for your comments as I am trying to figure this out. I can finally order books today and need to finalize my selections. I think I will get the WWE text and start dd8 in #2 and ds7 in #1. I guess I'm confused because I thought writing was already worked into First Language Lessons. That what it seemed like when we did FLL 1&2. I only have the 2nd edition of The Well Trained Mind. I bet the third would explain more. That would be great if Susan continues the series. I hate hopping programs, although I have learned it is enevitable.
  8. I want to make sure I understand correctly. Is WWE a new alternative to writing strands and IEW? I have a 3rd grader I am starting First Language Lessons Level 3. We never quite finished FLL 2, but I think she'll be fine. I'm not sure which WWE to get for her though. We Have taken 5 months off of real school. Just kept up on reading is all. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  9. All these abreviations are driving me crazy. What is LLC?
