I have officially realized why I was directed here, kismet for sure! Such an amazing response and not one was taken in a dismissive manner. I truly feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion.. it's an act of freedom and how history was formed. I've been researching every suggestion in order from the first. Really, without advice from others that have knowledge on the subject, it's tedious work to research the insane amount of options offered today. They all say they're excellent and have proof by the 'reviews'. I'm looking forward to hopefully becoming a member of this community. I researched and chose this forum wisely. I'm not planning on being a 'passer-by'. Thanks to all.

Wow thank you all! It took me a while to find this forum and I'm glad I chose it! When it comes to religion, I'm not against it. Secular is fine too. I want to give my child a broad history. An amalgamation if you will. In some cases you can't really understand one without the other. I don't mind printing the books and putting them in a binder. A year before my child's birth, I made one of the best purchases of my life, an ink tank printer. I'm on almost 8000 pages and still haven't ran out of the original ink. I think print offs will be great for the next couple of years. I have had great success with play-learning and would like to get ideas for more activities. My issue is this: I can think of dozens of things to do but when it comes to arranging them in a productive, analytical manner, mom-brain kicks in and my pre-mom organized and creative mind is MIA. My child is 2.5 and in the "test mom to find boundaries" phase. I hope once that dials down and the fine motor skills develop more, there will be more autonomy and awareness so that I won't have to watch every move made in fear of injury or destruction. Hopefully, that will give my brain a break!

I'm looking for a "throwback" of the 80's and 90's. As I look through the plethora of options I'm seeing a lot, A LOT, of newer methods. I have even tried one. HORRIBLE! It felt like a rip-off disguised as a 'must-try'. I'm sure you've seen the adverts; "your child will be reading, writing, speaking multilingually and doing trigonometry by the age of 1!". Ok, it didn't say that exactly but it sort of implies that all children who use it will be leaps and bounds ahead of their peers. I'm not looking for a screen to use for most lessons. The screen can be around 10% and the heft of the learning will be from books and real life. Any suggestions for books or lists of educational material pre 21st century? Heck, I'm willing to pay for a tried and true lesson plan/syllabus that isn't so 'new age'. Thank you for your time and consideration.

2.5 years ago I became a mom. It's something I was told was impossible.. apparently not because here we are. I am not choosing to homeschool because of the events of 2020. I have planned on doing it since conception. As my child gets older, I try to introduce education through play. Really, I don't know what I'm doing! I've searched for homeschool communities near my area. The closest one is over 100 miles away. The forum route is the next option that will hopefully be equally informative. I'm looking for suggestions about books, games and activities to use Also, I have been looking for parents of children with speech delays. I believe my 2.5 yo has a delay and I would like to get advice from parents that have been through or are going through speech therapy. Thank you.
