  2. There is also one here: http://www.cpo.com/home/Portals/2/Media/post_sale_content/LSN/Ancillaries/U3/U3_Skill_and_Practice_Sheets/LSN_U3_SS.pdf This is a packet of worksheets for a unit in CPO life science. I'm not sure how detailed you want the diagram to be, but I think these are quite detailed. There is an animal cell labeling worksheet with the nucleus, vacuole, ribosomes, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cytoskeleton, lysosome, mitochondira, golgi body, and ER. There is also a worksheet for a plant cell with the nucleus, ribosomes, mitochondria, cell wall, central vacuole, cell membrane, cytoskeleton, chloroplasts, golgi body, and ER. I can scan the labeled pages from the text book and email them to you, if you would like or I can post the answers if you need them. Just let me know! :001_smile:
  3. My 11 yo daughter would like to find penpal. :)
  4. Maybe you can find something that will help here: http://www.webenglishteacher.com/biography.html
  5. :bigear: We just started using Winston Grammar, too. I thought about using Giggles in the Middle but haven't decided yet. It looks like it would be fun! Would love to hear what others have used!
  6. We got ours today, too! No magazine yet, though.
  7. Just had to add that I have recently started a homeschool reviews website (see my sig.). I am attempting to make a "master list" of homeschool reviews available on the internet. For each curriculum, I have links to several homeschool reviews websites, to the publisher's website, and to Amazon if the curriculum is available there. So far I have: homeschoolreviews.com, Cathy Duffy reviews, Successful Homeschooling, Homeschoolcurriculum.org, Homeschoolchristian.com, Choosy Homeschooler, Eclectic Homeschool Online, Hearthside Homeschool, Homeschool Art Mom and maybe a couple others. I recently found some other review sites that I hope to be adding soon. If anyone would like me to link to reviews on their blog or website just send me a pm.
  8. My 10 yo daughter used Math Whizz for awhile last spring. When she first started it she really enjoyed it and spent about 1 hr/day using it. Then she got to some problems she had trouble with and didn't want to do it anymore. I really liked that I could log in and see exactly what skills she was having trouble with and how she was progressing. The animations were great, too! I also saw the deal at Homeschool Buyer's Co-op and it does seem pricey. I would like her to try it again this year, but I will probably do the monthly subscription at 19.95/month in case she struggles with it again.
  9. I did the 1st quarter of MOH Vol 1 with my 5th grade dd last winter. I bought The Student Bible Atlas and the Rand McNally Historical Atlas of the World. We used the Bible atlas several times, but we never used the Historical Atlas in the first 27 lessons. Maybe you would need it for the later lessons?
  10. WOW!! Lots of great stuff! :D http://education.usgs.gov/common/primary.htm Thanks!!
  11. My 10 year old daughter loves it, too!:hurray:
  12. I am really excited to start All American History with my 6th grade dd!
  13. We used The Elements this spring. My 5th grade dd really enjoyed it and was proud of the fact that she was learning the same thing her 8th grade brother was in ps. Joy
  14. :bigear: I am also planning on doing US Geography with my 6th grade dd. I have looked at the Star Spangled State Book and Workbook. They have some good reviews on Amazon, I'm just not sure if they will cover everything I want to cover. Has anyone used these? There was a series on the History channel that I saw a few weeks ago about the states. This is it here: http://shop.history.com/detail.php?p=70012&v=history&ecid=PRF-2101965&pa=PRF-2101965 I don't see it on netflix... not sure if it would be on Discovery Education. Would love to hear what others have done! Joy
  15. We're in from Montana! Sounds like fun! :thumbup1:
  16. Thanks! All of those look great! Life of Fred looks really fun to me and I can definitely see a confidence boost with Lial's. I have looked at some other programs similar to Math Relief, but they seemed much more expensive. I may just order all 3 and see what he likes best.
  17. I have spent several hours reading through all the great posts regarding math curriculum, but am still unsure which to try with my 14 yr old son (8th grade). He has used Saxon in ps since 4th or 5th grade and it does not work for him. The 30 problems a day are overwhelming to him and the repetition bores him. We just completed 4 months of Aleks and he did not like it either. He became very frustrated when he made a simple mistake on a problem and had to do extra practice. He is an auditory learner and seems to need a lot of context to learn best. He had a hard time learning his times tables, but seems to know them pretty well now. He really seems to grasp the concepts of math easily, it is just the details that he gets hung up on. Has anyone had a similar experience and what worked best for you? We took him out of ps after he nearly didn't pass 7th grade and enrolled him in Wilostar3D academy, which was a nightmare. I could not get him to do his work no matter what I tried. :banghead: He became very distracted with the virtual world and computer games and most of the lessons just didn't interest him. We are going to try ps again for awhile and see what happens (and hopefully regain some sanity). ;) He does have an IEP (for ADHD) and the teachers seem to be willing to try a different math curriculum. I plan to be fairly involved in his math instruction. I really think that he could do very well in math with the right program and teacher. Thanks!
