  1. My son uses LaTex. He does his math on Overleaf, it’s a web base LaTex editor
  2. My son thought that AoPS Intermediate Algebra was easier that Geometry. He probably spent 1hour per day. There is no Alcumus required for the class, but we chose to do Alcumus in addition. I think that an AP class is doable if it is a subject she is passionate about. My ds13 is taking AP Comp Sci A this year and is doing well. Make sure she has the math background for the Chem class, I think that AP Chem has Algebra 2 as a prerequisite. So you may want to start with the high school Chem class. Ds is taking algebra base physics and calculus this year and is planning to take AP physics c or CC physics, not sure yet. We had a hard time finding a test location this year, so we may opt for CC.
  3. My dd started UCSD with 60 semester units, she was a freshman with junior status. She finished her BS in computer Engineering in 2.5 years. She is now in their masters program, which is an additional year. So it will take her 3.5 years total to finish the BS/MS program, which normally takes 5 years. If they want to minimize the years at university, my suggestion is to target the schools they are interested in and make sure all DE class are transferable.
  4. It depends on the state and university. In California, you can apply as a freshman.
  5. My dd competitive swimmer said that Polyester swim suits have lasted the longest, but they are not very stretchy. Xtra life Lycra are better than just Lycra, it will last twice as long. She swims 5 hours a day between morning and afternoon practices. We been through many suits.
  6. If your Ds is having a hard time understanding how to complete the squares Dr. Loh invented a more intuitive way to do it https://youtu.be/XKBX0r3J-9Y https://www.sciencealert.com/math-genius-finally-discovers-easy-way-to-solve-quadratic-equations-after-4-000-years/amp
  7. My daughter went to the camp a 4 years ago. They accepted her base her USJMO qualifications from the previous year. So it’s probably the USJMO qualifiers from last year applying right now.
  8. here is a link to the prices https://www.awesomemath.org/summer-program/online/tuition/ if your DD is a US(J)MO qualifier, no letter of recommendation is needed
  9. How would you compare CLRC Intro to Literature to Blue Tent Into to Literature. My daughter will be an 8th grader next year and we are trying to decide between the two classes. Any thoughts? We are also open to other providers and classes as well.
