  1. My cutlery drawer is done. And I've ended up with an empty drawer! Who ever thought that could happen!
  2. I am behind a day on the group challenge. Yesterday, I got rid of two give-away boxes and two bags of trash from my living area. Today, I just did my junk drawer and the draws underneath the junk drawer. Right on top of all the junk in my junk drawer was a brand-new outlet cover. Just the other day, I was wondering why we didn't get a new outlet cover for the kitchen! Turns out we did! Now I have a brand-new shiny cover looking at me. Off to do my cutlery drawer--not looking forward to it! Halycon, thanks for inspiring me!
  3. I have a ds much like yours. And you know I worried for him for a long time. He wanted to figure out how to fit in, but had a hard time doing that. At times, he did everything to fit in and other times seemed to care less. As a sophmore in high school, he's figured it out enough! He still loves fashion, and helps his mostly female friends pick out clothes. He's also figured out a sport (swimming) that allows him to be on a team and be one of the guys without participating on a team. (team dynamics really throw him for a loop). There are still guys who give him a hard time and situations where he has his feelings hurt. But for the most part, he's happy being himself! I'm finally at a point where I feel that he's figured out society enough to be a happy member of it while also being true to himself. (hmmm, maybe this is more about me).
  4. In the US we keep records that pertain to tax stuff for 3-6 years because that is the amount of time the IRS has to audit a tax return. Do you have anything like that in the NZ? Sounds like you are doing much of what I've been doing. I've sorted through lots of boxes and found things my kids have outgrown years ago!
  5. We are opting out of the family drama this year. We are having a meal of dessert and lumpia--per my kids requests. Our dessert buffet: pumpkin pie pumpkin cheesecake brownies peanut butter pie Merry Berry Christmas bars
  6. My thoughts are with you today!:tongue_smilie: I did 20 minutes in the garage yesterday. Was able to get rid of two small bags of trash, fill one give-away box, organize some of my buckets of food. And the biggest accomplishment---convince my husband we can donate all the outgrown bikes! He had been holding out selling them---for three years! Now I will be able to walk in there!
  7. I brown brown rice in a skillet before cooking it. It seems to make it cook quicker, but I don't think it changes how your body digest it.
  8. Four out of Five of my children went from Singapore 6b to Algebra. One went into a prealgebra course.
  9. It's hard. I know there is a season for everything. And yet when opportunties such as yours come around, it is really hard to let it go. Hope you can make peace with your decision.
  10. My daughter's goal her first year was 3000. She was 11 and didn't make the goal. She ended up writing about 1100.
  11. My guess is they aren't ripe yet. Give them a few more weeks to ripen up.
  12. Nothing posted yet, but I think something should be coming soon. I believe the OP is or was in New York, so Sandy may affect her ability to post right now. We've all agreed to start out doing 20 minutes of something everyday.
  13. Any ideas for an American Government workbook that just covers the basics? Something similar to Lifepacs, but secular?
  14. I don't mind handing out candy to teenagers as long as they have a real costume that has required some effort.
  15. One large download. I hate having to search on the computer for mulitple downloads for the same program.
  16. Has he never learned how to form the letters or is his handwriting just really sloppy?
  17. I think any of these three choices would work. You don't need to buy level 2. Work with what you have.
  18. I would suggest Rainbow Science just the text, if you already have the hands-on covered with your science club.
