I have a ds much like yours. And you know I worried for him for a long time. He wanted to figure out how to fit in, but had a hard time doing that. At times, he did everything to fit in and other times seemed to care less.
As a sophmore in high school, he's figured it out enough! He still loves fashion, and helps his mostly female friends pick out clothes. He's also figured out a sport (swimming) that allows him to be on a team and be one of the guys without participating on a team. (team dynamics really throw him for a loop). There are still guys who give him a hard time and situations where he has his feelings hurt. But for the most part, he's happy being himself!
I'm finally at a point where I feel that he's figured out society enough to be a happy member of it while also being true to himself. (hmmm, maybe this is more about me).
