  1. Wow, they look amazing. Wish I could see one in my garden!
  2. Oh, @Ausmumof3, so sorry. I understand why it all feels like 'why bother'. I hope your mask will have done the trick! I think maybe dh in the van, and you mask in the house around the kids + ventilate/run air purifiers at home?
  3. Weather warning cancelled for Sydney. The low was 50km away this morning but then turned NW instead of continuing south. The local river is brimming but not spilling.
  4. Thanks @wathe! I wish I could do that! It looks fun, and I love maple sugar.
  5. Wow. Do you ever film it? 100% would watch the process.
  6. Yep, very $. I tend to take an antihistamine, and sip on a cup of warm water to see if that helps first, before using up a test. Sore/dry throat is so non specific.
  7. Hope you're ok. Do you have any RATs?
  8. Thank you, that was an interesting recap. Sad almost none of the women received justice, but good to hear of the changes in law. I'd never heard a terrorism theory - only that it didn't happen, and ww were just being Islamaphobic about having their mobiles snatched? Guess that shows the bias of our preferred news sources. I trust DW though, so good to read some final facts around the incident.
  9. Flood warning for local river but it seems to be somewhat upstream. The rain is wild - glad we all got home before it started.
  10. I mean, I guess the other thing is how were these clothes produced? If the workers got a decent wage, I guess they are more ethical, in a way, than cheaper non-holey clothes made by exploited workers. Idk how $ fashion works, and if they pay their workers better at the top of the scale.
  11. @prairiewindmomma, I hear you. I'm concerned for my vulnerable students. I hope they will continue to mask. There hasn't been any bullying so far over it, and I hope it stays that way. I would love to stop masking! But it's just not worth the risk for me either. I hope masking continues to protect you and your family.
  12. Yes, dd2 is cautious, because she's still dealing with breathlessness a month on.
  13. Oh, I've got one too, but more diffuse - natural disaster + nuclear war. Will add when I'm on my laptop. Thank you Regentrude for sharing!
  14. It's pretty gross. It brings to mind the classism and racism double standard. Rich and white? Show your status with $2k holey sweaters. Poor or Black, we'll judge you for your $5 sweater from the thrift store because it's got a hole.
  15. It's actually been a good day. Honestly, I think just thinking about Vit D helped, placebo wise. Maybe because it's such an easy 'right thing' to fix.
  16. Not only am I home dry, the kids got to play outside at lunch! Miracle! (The storm is forecast for tonight instead).
  17. I'm at work so the house will have to manage on it's own. A bit worried about ds and I both getting home when the storm is meant to hit, but I'm sure we'll be ok. More worried about the roof holding up, tbh. Pretty sure we are above the flood line, even though we are three blocks from the river. Can't see a flood warning for the river either. Will keep an eye on BOM during the day.
  18. The low is predicted to dump on Sydney today. Was a little alarmed that our local SES is handing out sandbags - we're not on the flood plain.
  19. I honestly don't know if panels are routinely done here, but I can ask. What would I be looking for?
  20. I feel ok. Nothing I can do about it, except wear my own, so no point thinking about it. Most kids weren't wearing them anyway. I have always taken extra care during flu season, because of a pre existing condition. Vaxed, avoided large gatherings, checked if anyone was unwell etc. Kinda glad I can now add 'mask' to my flu protections. I'd be upset if I wasn't able to wear mine at school.
  21. No Covid, vax a while ago No SO. No power lines. Haven't ever had thyroids done. A holiday sounds sooo good, but I have to go to work. I do think the chronic illness flare is probably contributing.
  22. We're trying to get dd1 access to this or the ketamine clinic. We are very behind the US in terms of access, unfortunately.
  23. Oh, you know what? I stopped taking my Vit D. I stopped eating breakfast a few months ago, and so I couldn't take it on an empty stomach, and I forgot to solve that problem. Good reminder. I know how to do the self compassion thing but it takes a lot of energy. Sometimes it's less taxing just to let the critic out, kwim? High cost though. She's back. A week is a long time sometimes.
