  1. I have been loving the show Ghosts. I’m watching the American version, and when I finish it I plan to watch the UK version. A new season starts next week for the American version. There’s a couple of dud episodes, but overall I'm really enjoying it. It’s a CBS show and is on Paramount+. I love Modern Family as well, and I can’t handle dark or violent stuff. I hope you start feeling better soon!
  2. I think that Very Pink videos are no frills and clear. https://verypink.com/knitting-video-library/ I’m a knitter if you need any further help. I know there are others here as well. Good luck, and have fun!
  3. This is beautiful! Half-square triangles are awesome. And you are so lucky to have a daughter with a longarm!
  4. Oh my goodness. I’m scrolling up through this thread because the cross stitch caught my eye. I’m also a quilter, and this is gorgeous! If I remember correctly, you haven’t been quilting too long, have you? This is just amazing. Great job!
  5. Beautiful! I love them both but those turquoise colors are amazing. The crochet blanket is beautiful as well.
  6. What a beautiful stitch! I’m so excited to see another stitcher. I feel like Buddy the Elf when his little brother gets out of school. I have a million questions I’d ask! Lol. I’ll just leave it at admiring your beautiful work. I can’t wait to see what you work on next.
  7. I’m so sorry. Praying for comfort and safety.
  8. Wonderful news! So happy to hear he is doing well! It was such a relief (many years ago) to finally be able to take our preemie home.
  9. Congratulations! Now I can stop obsessively checking the board to make sure you are both ok. So happy to hear he has safely arrived. Enjoy!!
  10. Wait! Is this THE abbeyej from way back in the day? I was just thinking about you the other day when I was remembering past posters from years ago. Kolbi, Alaska, Crissy in WA, Mindy, Colleen, Janice in NJ etc. My username has changed. I used to live in Korea, if that rings any bells. So good to see you!
  11. I’ve been miserable with a dental infection, so I haven’t read nearly as much as I’d hoped, and I’ve fallen behind on the threads. @mumto2 I think you asked about my favorite classic crime authors. I don’t have one yet! I’ll have to get back to you. I’m excited for the new subscription. @Vintage81 I’ve read The Downtairs Girl. I enjoyed it. It was a different perspective in that era that I hadn’t read before. @Robin M That sounds like a lovely trip/visit! I haven’t been able to read this past week. I’m just finally starting to feel human again. But the week before, I read: The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox. I enjoyed this one. I nice quick holiday read. “A feel-good, holiday rom com about identical twins who swap lives twelve days before Christmas”. And The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews. I mostly liked this one. There were a couple of things I questioned, but overall it was a sweet book. “When newly-divorced Ivy Perkins buys an old farmhouse sight unseen, she is definitely looking for a change in her life. The Four Roses, as the farmhouse is called, is a labor of love--but Ivy didn't bargain on just how much labor. The previous family left so much furniture and so much junk, that it's a full-time job sorting through all of it. At the top of a closet, Ivy finds an old Santa suit--beautifully made and decades old. In the pocket of a suit she finds a note written in a childish hand: it's from a little girl who has one Christmas wish, and that is for her father to return home from the war. This discovery sets Ivy off on a mission. Who wrote the note? Did the man ever come home? What mysteries did the Rose family hold?” I hope to get a couple more holiday books in this week. I hope everyone has a great holiday season! Happy Reading!
  12. Seconding Jan Karon’s Mitford series books Joanne Fluke has a series of murder mysteries (The Hannah Swensen series) that are clean and very tame. The first is The Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder The Miss Julia books by Ann B. Ross are good as well Stephanie Pearl McPhee has written several knitting books (her “nickname” is the Yarn Harlot, so I’m not sure if that would be offensive, but her books are funny). Clara Parkes has also written a few as well Jennifer Chiaverini has a series related to quilting. I think the first is The Quilter’s Apprentice I have enjoyed the first two (getting the third for Christmas) Thursday Murder Club books by Richard Osman (possibly mild language, I can’t remember) I enjoyed How the Penguins Saved Veronica by Hazel Prior as well (possibly not after re-reading your post mentioning not about death/loss) I liked Field Notes from an Unintentional Birder by Julia Zarankin. Good luck! I hope that she is able to find some books that she likes.
  13. @Robin M I’m in awe, and very appreciative of the many years that you’ve continued these posts. ❤️
  14. I am very excited to have recently purchased a British Library Crime Classics Subscription. It’s not as favorable to ship to the US, but it’s worth it to me. Also, I’m not sure if memes are appreciated in this thread. I hope it’s ok to just post the text: ”All I want for Christmas is you. Just kidding. There better be some books under that tree.” 😂 I’ve finished Little Women. Also read a sweet little book, The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser. Currently reading, The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox I also purchased this bookish snow globe from Barnes & Noble. One for me, and one each for my girls. They were thrilled. It plays Deck the Halls and looks great on our bookshelves. Happy Reading!
