  1. This year had to be math for us. We bought living math books, extra manipulatives and a new math curriculum, but hopefully I'm done with my math purchasing for a few years. ;)
  2. I had teacher's guide for both K & 1 and never used them. HTH
  3. I just started The 3R's and am about half way through. It's very good and IMO worth the buy. I would also suggest joining the Basically Beechick yahoo group there are some great ideas on there. HTH
  4. I was wondering if you could elaborate on the gaps that you found with your son????...I'm wanting to make sure this doesn't happen with my daughter. :) Thanks!
  5. We are using MoTL and we are loving it!! It does take a little while to get your thoughts wrapped around it because it is not like your traditional math program. I would take a look at it...:) HTH!
  6. Would you please explain the "everyday math" method. I've been following this thread with much interest. We're bouncing between math programs right now, so that's why I'm asking...:001_smile:
  7. :iagree: We have all 3 and love them! Here's the link to Peggy Kaye's website. You can check out some of the games before buying the books. http://www.peggykaye.com/target.php?ct=welcome
  8. Thanks to everyone!! This makes me feel better :) We really do love Saxon, but the math 1-3 seems to move slow, IMO and I think my dd could move a little faster (I tried combining lessons). I was planning to switch back to Saxon at 5/4, but now I'm going to wait and see how my dd is doing, maybe I'll wait till 6/5 or 7/6.....:) Thanks again....:)
  9. Thanks....Honestly we used Saxon K and my dd loved it, she was 4 so all the manipulatives were fun!! Then we tried math 1 and it was just ok....so, we switched and I thought about switching back to Saxon at math 5/4, so this does help. I just didn't want to have gaps from not using Saxon all the way from K-12....:)
  10. Hi, I'm popping over from the K-8 forum with a couple of question about Saxon for high school. It's a loooong time before we get to high school, but I'm curious about a couple of things regarding Saxon. If I'm "planning" on my dd using Saxon for high school, is it important to start with Saxon K and work our way through math 1, math 2, math 3, math 5/4, etc.? or can we jump in with Saxon at high school level? I'm wondering if we will miss something important from Saxon if we use another curriculum for K-3 or even K-8, and then start Saxon at 9th grade. :001_unsure: Thanks for any advice.....:)
  11. :iagree: Saxon K is what we used in PreK...for K we are using Math on The Level and SM (thrown in at some point :)) HTH!
  12. Have any of you Saxon users, used this as a supplement?? Activity Guide for Middle Grade Series I saw it in the Rainbow Resource catalog.... http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/Activity+Guide+for+Middle+Grades+Series/011037/1273882606-25299 Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts....:) Thanks
  13. :iagree: My dd is finishing up kindergarten, so we've used them for math facts and so far we reallly like them, so yes I thinks it's worth it. I really like that it came with an abacus, a small one, but it's an abacus...:) so, my dd will get experience using an abacus without using RS. BTW: We've tried RS TWICE and it wasn't a good fit for us. :) HTH! P.S. sometimes you can find a good used set....
  14. I'm glad to see this thread. We are about half way through ETC 2 and thought about starting AAS Level 1 in the fall. My dd will be a "kinder" in the fall. I've thought lately about holding off on AAS until she's a little further along in ETC and just make spelling lists from what ever lesson we are on at the time in ETC. I don't want to add too much, that's why I'm glad to see others asking about holding off. We live in Florida and in ps the children start spelling in Kinder with tests each week. However, I'm not following the ps system.. :) Just reading what every one else has decided to do with ETC and AAS..... :)
  15. You could try Christian Book Distributors.....just a thought.. :)
  16. :iagree: I have 106 Days and love it. We use it occasionally, not on a consistent basis.
  17. Just throwing a thought out to you..have you looked at Beyond the Code. Beyond the Code book 1 is supposed to be a good fit after ETC 3, then move to ETC 4. Then move back to Beyond the Code book 2, then to ETC 5. After that, it would be Beyond the Code 3, then to ETC 6 and ETC 7, then on to Beyond the Code 4 and finish with ETC 8....this may sound mixed up and it may not even be something you want to consider, but just wanted to mention that to you. HTH!
  18. Thanks for posting! I was going to be ordering the rest of ETC this week that we need!!
  19. Keep me posted, please....I may try and download it this week....:D
  20. Thanks I'll do that...:)
  21. I definitely want to go with Saxon for High School and I think for middle to. I'm just second guessing the K-3.....Does the middle and high school levels apply the material to "real life" learning????
