  1. I haven’t ever tried this particular recipe because we are not vegan, but I have had good luck with taste and chew using gluten free oat flour. I buy Trader Joe’s gf oats and grind them into flour in my food processor. I’m sure you can also buy gf oat flour, but I’m not sure where. https://beamingbaker.com/gluten-free-vegan-oat-flour-chocolate-chip-cookies-v-gf-dairy-free/
  2. That’s interesting that she got a job with Deloitte. All the degrees for this program seemed like they were for things like Latin, history and international relations.
  3. Thank you for the info. I’ve read a bit more about it on CC. It sounds like there are about 20 students a year who participate. It sounds kind of rough going back and forth between campuses every other year. Honestly, I’m thinking that’s probably enough right there to rule it out. I’ve also read it’s very expensive. We have a prepaid tuition plan, so W&M is affordable for us, but it sounds like there are many additional costs with this program.
  4. Wow, this is really helpful info to have. Hope it helps the OP.
  5. Does anyone have experience with this program?
  6. My dd has a couple of interviews scheduled soon. What should she bring with her? When my ds interviewed, he just brought a resume to hand to the interviewer since he had already submitted his application. Since the common app won’t even open until after my dd interviews at these first schools, should she bring an unofficial copy of her transcript to hand to the interviewer as well as her resume?
  7. Thank you! I will take a look. ETA: Lol, all the info about the convention is in Latin. I will have my dd take a look at that when she gets back home. Something tells me she may be doing this next summer if they offer it again.
  8. Yes, we visited Hillsdale last year and that is on her list.
  9. Thank you! I misread one of the questions on the NPC and included all of our retirement income when it said NOT to include retirement income. I am trying to be so careful with this so that I don’t give my daughter false hope about what we can afford and I thought I had really made a big mistake.
  10. Also, an FYI for anyone else using these tools — the year we go from two children to one child in college, our efc doubles. When I had initially done calculations for my dd, I only did the first year, not realizing how big of a jump there will be in what we will be expected to pay once my ds graduates from college.
  11. I am getting vastly different amounts using the MyinTuition versus npcs. I’m trying to figure out why because Myintuition seems to account for assets — home, retirement, college savings, regular savings accounts. The MyinTuition tool, which many of the colleges we are looking at link on their websites gives me a significantly lower expected family contribution. Why would this be?
  12. As I have been plugging numbers into net price calculators for my dd, I have seen my dd’s FA slashed in half at some schools beginning her junior year when her brother will have graduated from college. I never would have imagined that would have made such a big difference.
  13. OP, I am so sorry to hear this. That must be really hard. It’s maddening trying to figure all of this out.
  14. That is something I’ve started to realize and my dd is interested in attending a Catholic university and learning more about the religion, so that’s an added plus. Thank you!
  15. Ha! A friend of mine just mentioned this to me this morning. Thank you!
  16. To calculus and statistics? My dd took stats at the CC and found it easy and enjoyable. She found calculus challenging and it was her least favorite subject this last year. She’s thinking about taking a discrete math class (as was recommended on this board) at the CC in an 8 week vs a 16 week session. That would work well for a number of reasons, but I don’t want her to get in over her head with it.
  17. Thank you! That should keep me busy for awhile.🙂
  18. Yes, I do understand that. I just wish the process was simpler.
  19. Truman State was another on our list, but they only offer a minor in Latin. ☹️
  20. My dd is still figuring out what path she would like to take career-wise, but she knows that she definitely wants to continue with her Latin studies. All of the more selective/expensive schools she is applying to offer strong programs in this area. But, UAH, which she was planning to apply to as a financial and academic safety doesn’t even seem to offer Latin. There’s also a state school that we have on our list as a safety that does have Latin, but it doesn’t look great for her level of interest. Any suggestions for schools that would be safeties for a student with high stats that offer strong classics programs? We are in Virginia. She’d like to stay in the eastern half of the country. Also, what schools have the *best* Latin departments, just so we can look and explore?
  21. Thank you. My dd contacted admissions for her top choice schools. One let her know their prompt was staying the same. Another said one of the three was staying the same and the others said they did not know and that prompts would be released by the end of July. Honestly I thought this was supposed to be one of the benefits of the common app. That the students didn’t have to write another essay or three for every single school they apply to. And if they are going to ask students to write multiple essays, why not make them available early in the summer since there is already so much on their plates senior year. Grumble, grumble. Anyway, she will focus on the ones she can. Fortunately, those are for the schools she is most interested in.
  22. What about one of those pod storage things? I’ve seen them on people’s yards, They store their stuff in them and then when you go to move, I think you just move the whole pod?
