  1. Glad to see some are finally realizing the threat to staffing!
  2. I agree that the translators and their immediate families should have been gotten out months ago. Unfortunately, we are now taking out masses people to be vetted by the same group that orchestrated this mess to begin with.
  3. I know doctors, nurses, and CNAs that are unvaccinated. I was happy to work with them pre-vaccine and I am happy to work with them now. Some of these HCW have had Covid. There is no option for those that have had Covid to opt out of the vaccine. Some (particularly the young ones) are concerned about potential future harm from the vaccines. You nor anyone else can guarantee them that there will be no future harm. They have worked all during the pandemic selflessly. For you to now decide they are selfish and non-evidence based is appalling to me! Correct me if I'm worng but you were also so very confident in "understanding the science" (supported by the twitter postings 🙄)of the virus not having come from the Wuhan Lab. Still standing on that "understanding the science"?
  4. I'm not an accountant so this advice is worth what you're paying for it. IMO, I would not send him anything unless/until contacted by his attorney. And anything sent by his attorney needs to read by your attorney before submitting any requested items. You filed for the years required by the decree as requested. I don't know why he would be privy to any of your information going forward.
  5. I just read that medicare and medicaid funding for nursing homes will be tied to vaccine mandates for their HCW. This will likely exacerbate the problem. As far as allowing vaccinated family members in to help with their loved ones; sometimes family is helpful, somtimes they are more of a hindrance. I don't think it's likely to happen in any case being that the vaccine is proving to not be effective in preventing 100% (or even close to that) of infection.
  6. I am seeing this among my coworkers. This is especially true of young nurses, nurses close enough to retirement, and CNAs. They feel like last year they were "heros" and now cattle that need to shut up, line up and get a vaccine they do not want in order to keep the job they have been doing for about 18 months now of pandemic. Be careful what you wish for for those of you demanding mandates. Nurses and other HCW are walking away.
  7. Now Americans are being advised to stay away from the Kabul airport. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/taliban-vow-be-accountable-probe-reports-reprisals-afghanistan-2021-08-21/ "Because of potential security threats outside the gates at the Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid travelling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so," the U.S. Embassy advisory said.
  8. That still does not explain not getting, the now reported to be 15,000+, Americans out, or our allies.

  12. If that is true then it makes this mess even more inexcusable. Why did the administraion not get the 11,000+ American citizens, allies (including the Afghanis that risked their lives helping us), and the weapons that are now in the hands of the taliban out before leaving? Total incompetence and disregard for human lives, IMO!
  13. https://1776unites.com/essays/our-open-letter-to-public-school-boards/ Thank you for the vital leadership role you play in ensuring schools empower all of our students to acquire the core American virtues and knowledge essential for citizenship in our racially diverse, multi-ethnic and pluralistic democracy. A peaceful and prosperous American future must be built on a shared understanding of our past that is accurate and truthful, but also celebratory and aspirational. The prevailing narrative of racial grievance has been corrupting the instruction of American history and the humanities for many decades, but has accelerated dangerously over the past year. The most damaging effects of such instruction fall on lower income minority children, who are implicitly told that they are helpless victims with no power or agency to shape their own futures. Also concerning are the results from the National Center of Education Statistics’ 2018 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Alarmingly, only 24 percent of eighth graders performed at or above NAEP Proficient standards for the Civics assessment and only 15 percent did so for the History assessment. These dismal achievements in gaining an understanding of democratic citizenship, government, historical facts and perspectives across time are low across all student backgrounds and virtually unchanged from the benchmarks established two decades ago. We ask you, as stewards of public school systems around the country, to lead by example and embrace materials that will inspire the next generation, like those before them, to overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and live in a spirit of service to the common good. We invite all those who are committed to quality education and fostering a genuine interest among our young people in how inspiring lessons from our past can inform our path forward to contact us at 1776 Unites (educate@1776unites.com), and to view and download our free lessons here.
  14. He's on vacation. Is reported to now be cutting his vacation short to return to WH.
  15. PLease do NOT do this. Unless you would like to risk having a woundvac attached there for weeks on end. And yep I've seen that happen more than once. Make an appointment with your Gyn.
  16. I agree with the Altra Torin suggestion. Hoka One One's also might work if you don't like the zero drop of the Altras.
  17. Not sure where you are getting the "blaming Fauci" from. I said that I read that Fauci supports them not that he himself is mandating anything.
  18. I would encourage her to call in sick and take it easy today.
  19. This may have been discussed already in some of the huge vaccine threads. Afaik they are not mandated in my state. I have read that Fauci and some of the teacher's unions support mandates. I haven't seen any mandates in place. Am I wrong?
  20. https://www.wsj.com/articles/j-j-vaccine-highly-effective-against-delta-variant-in-south-african-trial-11628292645 The South African study, known as Sisonke, found that the J&J vaccine has an efficacy of up to 71% against hospitalization from the Delta variant, 67% against hospitalization from the Beta variant and up to 96% against death, according to a presentation of the results Friday. The data hasn’t yet been peer reviewed or published in a scientific journal. “The vaccine works very well in South Africa and protects against severe disease and death. All the immune responses that we’ve seen indicate good, immediate and sustained immune response against Delta and we see surprising durability in immune response of up to eight months,” said Dr. Glenda Gray, one of the study’s lead researchers.
  21. It must really be amazing to be so cock sure you know everyone's situation and what they should do regarding vaccine.
  22. Not directly related to vaccines so much as free speech. Although I have seen the thought that if you are not vaccinated you should not be allowed to do xyz or go xyz or buy xyz on this board. Same idea. https://bariweiss.substack.com/p/get-ready-for-the-no-buy-list
  23. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/acip-recs/general-recs/administration.html If she was given the PPSV23 it is correct to give it either subcutaneous or Intramuscular. I suppose if the nurse used a longer needle it could be possible for her to have caused on injury. I would think a allergic reaction to be more likely.
