  1. Lol AWESOME. My seven-year-old was talking about how the baby girl already has eggs as she's growing inside me. I think if they talked about anatomy in church class she would have a lot less trouble sitting still there, LOL.
  2. We're finishing up Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, by Grace Lin. So far it's a big hit. They haven't heard many Eastern stories before this but they love it.
  3. LOL my two-year-old thinks the baby will be coming out of my bellybutton. His sisters occasionally try to tell him the anatomically correct version but he isn't interested.
  4. Are the academics at the school on par with your homeschool work? For a lot of schools, they seem to run a year behind or so anyway....
  5. We also used number stamps for one child who wasn't ready to write them.
  6. No, never. He said many other fantastic philisophical things, but not that.
  7. Another vote for MEP! I do need to use the lesson plans often because I'm not mathy either, but it totally makes senes when I read it, and both my dds love it.
  8. I'm sure there are others but I mainly use CurrClick. I just got more Math Mammoth from there a few weeks ago.
  9. So what happens when he does that? I know here, he would be doing his own laundry in the first place, and would be buying a replacement of anything that was ruined in the wash, and if it continued that category of items would be removed from his room for a period of time. (BTDT. It helped a lot.)
  10. Immediately after and she redoes them. She gives her math right to me when she's done. If I notice it while she's working I'll have her fix it then.
  11. Just wait until you get the book. It's got a lot in there. (Which I don't use. *cough* I'm not very classical, lol.)
  12. We are using BFSU 2, McHenry's Brain, McHenry's Elements, and hopefully McHenry's Cells, plus interest-led days and dissections. Yeah, it might span 3rd and 4th, lol.
  13. There are curriculum recommendations in TWTM, by the by. :) I personally combine EVERYTHING, lol, but I haven't done much Montessori. Too much equipment for my taste. I use a bit of the philosophy and that's it.
  14. For lack of effort due to being bored with things being easy, you can do a combination of something very challenging (even extracurricular like a sport he has to really work at) plus following his interests up to his level, like studying anatomy and dissecting a specimen and writing a paper on how the parts he found inside the specimen adapt it to its habitat (for example).
  15. MEP reception might be a bit light for him now. I'd do Miquon and Peggy Kaye's Games for Math and slowly add in MEP 1. My five-year-old is in the middle of MEP 1 now and it's fabulous for mathy kids and building true number sense/understanding plus logic/puzzles.
  16. And a new Children's Songbook, since a lot of the songs are from The Friend now and not included.
  17. I read recently about how Amazon is not actually turning a profit with how cheap they are, so maybe they are making moves to try and actually bring in some money? It might backfire, though....
  18. My oldest needs daily work on it besides her regular math. We use MathRider and Math Bingo and a few other math apps.
  19. McHenry's Cells unit with all the games?
  20. My runner loved her pink puppy backpack/leash! No negative comments while out with it.
