  1. Thank you so much for everyone's input and advice. This was all very helpful. My son will be entering 6th grade and we will finish up his current practice in cursive and let him decide from there. He prefers manuscript now, but I think it is because he hasn't mastered cursive in the sense of not knowing the letters. I would like him to know how to write the letters in cursive without thinking about it too much at least. Thanks, again!
  2. Are there any recommendations for how long a focused penmanship program should be part of a child's studies? My child will be entering 6th grade and has no problem with manuscript, and can write cursive, though reluctantly. He is slower in cursive and prefers manuscript. Any suggestions on why it is or is not important to continue practicing penmanship and cursive beyond elementary school? And if you think yes, then to what grade level or just to mastery? We have been using Zaner-Bloser since second grade and he is about to finish the fifth grade level. The sixth grade level doesn't seem to teach anything new. If suggestions are for to continue penmanship, are there any recommendations for curricula more suited for middle school levels? Thanks.
