  1. That is a great book...I don't think the author ever wrote another..thought that was interesting.
  2. An air gun? That sounds like juveniles to me. I say let the police handle it. You have to live near this man and false accusations could start a rather nasty neighbor war. My neighbor (a real pain) complained about our dog once but I don't think he'd should the animal.
  3. I have seen the exhibit...it is nicely done. Would I spend a boatload of $$$ on it? Probably not (I have been accused of being a bit thrifty). However, if you consider the fun of the hotel, and maybe pick something else to do on your trip then it would be a mini vacation. Oh, you should do the millennium falcon ride-it is cool (prepare for a line). We got "free" exhibit posters which my boys still have.
  4. Sounds yummy. Taste-testing...a hard job but somebody's gotta do it:001_smile:
  5. I think grading as they complete their work is more educationally sound ( you can catch and correct before habits are formed). That being said, I do not grade everything, I often hand the dc the answer sheet and a marking pen....they love grading their own work.
  6. The memory work we have retained has been those selections that mean something to us - a connection has been made. For example, we love nature and many times on a hike someone will see something that triggers a poem learned. My oldest has read and reread Tolkien so things are often recited.. Qoutes from athletes, Bible verses, whatever means something to your family would be more inspiring than dry verses from a dry program.
  7. I'd dance and skip and sing to actually finish early. We are forever behind! I say a 2 week breather will be awesome!
  8. My husband who loves math even needed the manual one or two times. I say get it.
  9. Division is undoing multiplication. If you were going to divide a pizza with the family you wouldn't start with one piece, you'd start with the whole thing...the biggest until you narrowed down how much everyone gets.
  10. Sounds like it is time for a little day trip somewhere fun.. My children do the same thing and a simple picnic in the park or trip to a museum does wonders.
  11. How awesome! I think it is great that you are encouraging this interest. I don't have any curriculum suggestions, I just wanted to say kudos to you!
  12. I am switching from Spelling Workout to Wordly Wise for my ds (seventh grade). I want this to be for both spelling/vocab for the school year, 36 weeks or so. Would book 7 cover this? I can't figure out if one book covers a school year. He is use to 25 words a week but I am assuming the words in WW will be more challenging and therefore the lists shorter?

    Hi

    Hi yourself! :001_smile:
  14. Sam's Club sells them in packs of 3 or 4. I can't remember the exact price but it was a good deal. I have also got lucky at garage sales or thrift shops. I just reread your post and realize you were asking about quality not value- oops. The sams binders have been good ones for us (as well as a $saver:))
  15. I am a Buckeye through and through....welcome! O-H-I-O
  16. I think your mom is right..one of my boys had this problem. Oh, and you couldn't find a more homebound family than us.
  17. When you say level 2 are you referring to the middle school level (nem)? The answers are in the upper level texts but not the K-6 levels.
  18. I am starting MOH this fall and I have decided to get a historical atlas. I already have a Bible atlas and a modern one. We like maps!:001_smile: still trying to decide on the reproducible cd...not getting the craft cd, I know we will not use that.
  19. A place to list all the books/curriculum you have loaned out....sometimes I feel like a library:glare:
  20. You may like Teaching Minds, Training Hearts ( I think that is it) by Starr Meade. This is good catechism material.
  21. Have you tried the Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan?
