  1. I just went through this with EveryPlate, which is owned by Hello Fresh. I knowingly entered my credit card number to see the options thinking I wasn't obligated to buy anything, and when I got in I did not like the options. I tried to change the pre-assigned meals and in the process, I added a meal to my plan. Because it was my first order I would have had to call to cancel, so I just accepted the first order (at least I had a huge discount) and canceled everything after. I just made the fourth meal from the kit last night and I am pleased to report I am done with that. Some of the meals were a hit, at least. If credit card information is stored in your phone, it is surprisingly easy to pay for something without thinking. I'm sorry but that is likely what happened to you. I wouldn't call it fraud, but it is a business practice I do not enjoy and I will not give them my money again. I am suspicious of all meal delivery kits because this seems to be common practice. I was thrilled when I tried one last year and THEY had to cancel the delivery on their end. ETA: The day I signed up was the last day to make changes to the order for the week, so that may have played a part in why I couldn't cancel.
  2. I believe this too. So my suggestion is, if you think coloring your hair will help you feel more confident, then I love the idea of using a semipermanent just for the interview. If you feel at your most confident with your natural color, then leave it as is. Good luck!
  3. I had a very stressful morning and all I want is carbs, and not the healthy kind.
  4. Yes, I've had several orders now. The biggest drawback is the slow shipping speed, but as long as you're aware it could take a couple of weeks it's not a problem. One time they gave me a $5 credit because the package arrived late. I've gotten a few t-shirts, bowl covers, tote bags, lunch bags, a cute reading light. Good quality for the most part, definitely cheaper than purchasing the same thing off of Amazon. All the orders I've received have been in sealed plastic bags. Probably bad for the environment (I mean, the whole concept of TEMU is probably bad for the environment) but I love that I don't get enormous, half-empty boxes that I have to break down.
  5. Same here. If I'm feeling stressed, it helps to feel like I have some control, and organizing is one way I can have control. I recently discovered Temu. I could browse for hours and hours on there, and everything is so cheap that if I buy something, it doesn't kill my budget. I am also a big fan of putting things in my carts online, or creating wishlists when I want to shop.
  6. I hate these. Especially on big jars-my tiny hands have a hard enough time opening things without extra resistance. And I hate when they seal outside the jar's lid with shrink wrap (or whatever) AND include the little peel off seal inside the jar. Why both?
  7. Upon first reading this story, I could *hear* the Fox News blasting in the background as the man shot the boy. I've sat in the living rooms of too many old people blasting Fox News, in Kansas City even. Fox has spent its existence building fear and paranoia in old white people. We are seeing the result of that more frequently than ever.
  8. No, I don't think so. My ex, as far as I know, was never diagnosed NPD (few rarely are). But he sexually abused our children and went to prison. Now that he is out of prison and living with his mom, he can't hold a job, and he's not paying child support. But he has all these reasons why he can't, the system is against him. You see, he's actually the victim in all of this. If going to prison and losing access to your children isn't rock bottom enough to elicit change, I can't imagine what is.
  9. Would it make sense for your husband to turn the room into a man cave type thing, and just let him have it as a hangout? Then maybe you can clear out some stuff in your other living areas and reinvent them to your liking.
  10. I've always been weather aware but this is the first time I've actually put together an emergency kit to take down to the basement. I got the kids home from school early. Seeing the towns completely leveled by tornadoes recently really got my attention.
  11. That is true, I actually use a different Walmart than the one I used to go to for a lot of these reasons. I hope you find something that works out better for you!
  12. Can I suggest using things like Walmart pickup? I buy whatever I can at Aldi because 99% of the time that is the cheapest, but I also do a weekly pickup at Walmart. Lately I've been going to Aldi one night during the week, and Walmart pickup is Friday night. If what I need isn't available when I'm at Aldi, I just add it to my Walmart list (sometimes even when I'm waiting to checkout at Aldi). You can add things to your list all week, and then save things for later if you realize you don't need them right away. You can see what's a good deal without going there. I get a lot of shopping done that way without having to set foot in Walmart. I've also been stocking up on laundry and home stuff at Costco when it's on sale, so I have to buy that stuff a lot less often. Regular price at Costco isn't always the best, but once it's on sale I know I probably won't find a better price. The sales are usually a month long, so I might get a box of something each week of the month and then I'm set for a year. I used to get all that stuff at Target and now I rarely go to Target.
  13. When my daughter shops for teen girls, she likes to get things like cute throw blankets and fuzzy socks. Five Below is an excellent source for these types of gifts.
  14. I would suggest a neutral cardigan and/or jacket that goes with everything, and can be worn over bright colors to tone them down. Offices are always so cold, you will probably need one anyway. I worked at the corporate headquarters of a Fortune 500 company and on my first day I wore a whole suit, expecting everyone to be very formal. I was way overdressed. Occasionally you'd see someone walking around in leggings. I think for the most part unless you are really doing something crazy, people don't pay that close attention to dress codes.
  15. Sometimes my youngest throws away dishes because they had them in their room and shouldn't have, and then they grew stuff, so it's easier to throw them away than to wash them. I try to prevent this from happening, but I only buy cheap dishes now.
  16. Oh I miss Chummy! But at least we still have Trixie.
  17. The Chinese New Year starts this Sunday. I like the idea of revisiting any resolutions made on Jan 1 and adjusting as needed. Or just giving yourself a few weeks after the big holiday hustle to collect your thoughts. I'm more of an "adjust as you go" type person. I live by my planners and calendars but I'll change something mid-week if it's not working for me. For example, I have a constant goal of exercising more, but I'm always going back and forth on when I should try to fit it in. So it might work well for a couple of weeks to work out as soon as I wake up, or it might make more sense to workout once the kids are off at school for the day. If I find I'm not meeting my goal, I look to make a change.
  18. Then just go for it! I got into it a long time ago because some TV reviewers were always raving about it. It didn't seem like something I'd like, but I loved it. I think I love the women supporting women aspect of it the most. And if you don't like it, you can always stop watching.
  19. I completely agree with you, just because bad things happen to other people doesn't mean you are not traumatized. And a lot of people need to do a tiny bit of research and learn to stop minimizing what other people have gone through. I think you did the right thing by staying. You needed to provide shelter for your baby, and you did that at great personal cost. It was brave!
  20. I recently added tofu as a staple, we've been having it once a week. It's such an inexpensive source of protein! I've mostly just been getting the super/extra firm tofu, cutting into cubes, soaking it in soy sauce and oil, and air frying as the others have suggested above. Sides are rice and edamame.
  21. Two of my kids were diagnosed with EDS this year. I think we were "lucky" that the nurse practitioner who diagnosed them has EDS herself.
  22. I have always looked younger than my age, so I've had some issues purchasing alcohol. One time when I was around 25 a checkout lady insisted on seeing my ID,--okay no problem. So I showed it to her and she didn't believe it was real. Went on and on, "Oh wow, this is a good one!" (implying it was fake). Never went back there. Another time my mom asked me to pick something up for a party and the checkout lady told me "Now this beer is on the receipt so your mom will see that you bought it." I just shrugged and said I was buying it for my mom so... I mean overall it's a good thing to look young but people just get so rude sometimes. I was also told that I should be breastfeeding when I was purchasing baby formula one time. Yes I am aware, ma'am.
  23. When I quit mine, I just told her in the final session. She said she could see it coming, we'd had less and less to discuss. Maybe I should have given more notice but she always had a wait list so I don't think I cost her anything. I just quit one of my daughter's therapists on Friday. It was a specialized kind of therapy, and the therapist is pregnant and due soon. We decided to pursue a different kind of therapy that will probably be more beneficial at the moment, so we didn't see the point in keeping the final few appointments before the therapist's baby came. She seemed to understand-and maybe was even a bit relieved because we were her last appointment on Friday night. I remember being that pregnant and would not have been wanting to work until 7pm in the dark of winter.
  24. Oh thanks! I thought I needed more because the sets I have were supposed to expire in January but now I see I have until October.
  25. I think we're dealing with this. My child is 11, their symptoms started on 12/3. Never had a fever, sore throat comes and goes, and URI symptoms. Attempted urgent care last night but they were all booked up. The best I can hope for is a diagnosis anyway, since I'm sure it's viral and they won't be able to do anything. They did have 3 negative Covid tests last week.
