  1. I need to try this! I want some nachos that fit in my macros.
  2. You're not alone, I've bounced around a lot with language arts also. FLL, WWE, Growing with Grammar, Winning with Writing, Junior Analytical Grammar, IEW, Easy Grammar, several Spectrum and Evan Moor e-books, I know I'm forgetting several. Right now Hake grammar (not including the writing) is what is working and getting done for my older two. IEW needs to get done, but I'm not quite consistently there yet. I knew I bounced around with math a lot, didn't realize until I was typing out my LA list that I've been pretty flaky there too. Now I need to find something that works and consistently gets done for history.
  3. We used one of these with my cat who was obsessively overgrooming. She's a long haired cat and groomed her haunches and part of her tail bald, her tail looks rather poodle-ish now with the skinny base and puffy end. I tried the baby onesie cut for her but she kept getting out of it, she did keep the Suitical on better. Eventually she groomed her way through the fabric, but I think it would have been fine for surgery recovery.
  4. We have a Soda Stream and we've refilled the CO2 canisters using the dry ice method. More work but definitely cheaper, plus bonus dry ice science fun afterward. The Soda Stream doesn't really get used anymore, we drink too much carbonated water. My husband has a kegerator in the garage that he made from our old chest freezer. He used to brew beer, but now we just fill the kegs with water and carbonate them with larger CO2 tanks we refill. 5 gallon kegs of fizzy water on tap, it's nice.
  5. I did something very similar for my oldest, he missed our state's cut-off for K by just a couple days. I called it K that year and started homeschooling him just to give him something to do and stop him from brawling with his then-3 year old sister. I don't regret starting that early, but I do regret not using the grade level that aligned with the state. Now he's 12 and in 7th grade, but I think doing an extra year before he officially starts high school would be helpful.
  6. No teenagers here yet, but we call my 8 year old DD the bloodhound. If I try to eat something quietly on a long car trip then I'll hear, from the 4th row of the van, "mmmmm, I smell something yummy. It smells like... chocolate!" or "mmm, I smell chips!". Another time from the opposite end of an aisle in Costco she said "eww, I smell lobster". A minute later we're at the end of the aisle and, sure enough, there are lobsters!
  7. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I think your reading recommendations were great.
  8. I occasionally have basilar type migraines, and they can have similar symptoms. Tingling, numbness in hands, aphasia, partial loss of vision, stumbling and falling - the first time it happened I was terrified, my PCM was concerned I had a TIA. This describes it: https://americanmigrainefoundation.org/living-with-migraines/types-of-headachemigraine/basilar-type-migraines/
  9. If they're over 21, it's legal (either recreational or medical) in their state, and they won't be driving under the influence then I wouldn't say anything to them about it. I'm in a medical & recreational state, there are many forms available (classic joints, vape pens, edibles, tinctures) and for me it's a personal choice similar to alcohol.
  10. Also, any pics/evidence you have, please email it to yourself (preferably to a new email address, gmail or something) for safekeeping as you get your legal/financial/medical ducks in a row. (((hugs)))
  11. That sounds a bit unusual to me too, I've never heard of Depo causing weight loss. I was on it for 2 years (when I was about 19) and gained 100 lbs, depression, and volatile mood swings.
  12. I'm an adult with inattentive type ADHD, I was diagnosed when I was 41. I can see how it has affected things throughout my life since I was a child, but since I wasn't the (at-the-time) typical hyperactive little boy it was overlooked. I had various little systems to help me cope, but within the last year I was just continually dropping the ball on so many things that it was having a significant (financial) impact on our family. I worked with my doctor to try different dosages of medication and it made a big difference for me. I really wish I had been diagnosed years ago. It would have made a huge difference in my life.
  13. I'll wake up with them frequently, I've had chronic migraines since I was a child.
  14. When I was pregnant with my youngest they suspected a partial circumvallate placenta based on my anatomy scan. They wanted to do several ultrasounds later because they were worried she wasn't growing enough however I declined them. (Personal preference based on the accuracy of fetal weights determined by ultrasound.) It didn't seem to affect her growth, she was born 3 days after her due date at 10 lb 4 oz, so while she wasn't my biggest baby it was still a fine weight.
  15. Another vote for Apples & Pears. My 12 year old did great with Sequential Spelling, my 10 year old has not been doing well with it. My 8 year old (with dyslexia) has been using Apples & Pears and I've been really happy with how it's working out for her. I ended up switching my 10 year old to A&P also.
  16. I don't have any ideas, I'm in search of the same thing. I'm just here for the recommendations.
  17. We drove cross country with our cats when DH was transferred (Navy). We had a small SUV (and only 1 kid at the time), and a U-haul trailer that allowed us to keep the trunk mostly empty. In the mornings when we loaded up, we would also set up a small travel litter box and water dish in the back. After we got in the car I would reach over the back seat and open the carriers so the cats could come out if they wanted. A couple times they would use the litter box, but they usually waited until we had pulled in for the night and set them up in the hotel room. If we went into a restaurant for lunch (usually just fast food, so we could sit where the car was visible), we would leave the car running with the air on and lock it manually with the other set of keys. It wasn't a great option, but the only one we had available and worked out fine.
  18. We only made it a few months here, and that was almost 2 years ago. Unfortunately we haven't really found another one we like (secular), and I keep looking at the EG on the shelf wondering if I want to try it again. The kids don't have those questions, my older two definitely don't want to try it again.
  19. I'm 41, I'm allergic to pine nuts. It either developed later in life or I never had pine nuts until I was in my late 30s. Complete with Epi-pen injections (thanks to my then-11 year old DS1) and trip to the ER with the 2nd exposure.
  20. Yes, from reading trashy romance novels when I was a teen. :leaving:
  21. We vote by mail, with the option of dropping it in one of the many ballot boxes. DH gets an absentee ballot so he already has his, mine should be here within a few days.
  22. This is what we do too. We previously had a Little Green Machine and weren't that impressed with it. Now it's Spot Shot & paper towels (followed up by Kids & Pets or Odoban if needed, depending on the nature of the incident), or pull out the Bissell steamer.
  23. We've been keeping an eye on things. We have emergency supplies and getting everything charged. Our yard is rather small and surrounded by huge firs (not unusual, obviously) and all but one are on the neighbors' properties. I hope none of them come down. We don't have a generator, we've talked about getting one for years but never worked it into the budget.
  24. We installed an aftermarket one to my Toyota Sienna several years ago, once my 3rd row was filled with booster seats and obscured the view through the rear window. DH ordered them from Amazon, he was planning on installing them himself but ended up not having time so had them installed by someone else (I want to say Car Toys, Best Buy, or some place like that). It was great! I now drive a Nissan NV with one built in, I don't think I'd ever be able to back that thing out of a parking space without it.
  25. The enabler can be just as bad, sometimes worse, as the one they are enabling. You made a good choice, even if you feel guilt.
