  1. Milly-Molly-Mandy (you can find a gift-set that incl. a doll) Madeline A Little Princess The Princess and Curdie Little House books Little Women How about a nice gift-edition of her favorite fairytale? We love the 12 Dancing Princess
  2. Does anyone know if there is an earlier version of these CDs that has the lady narrator? I konw everyone loves Jim Weiss, but I'm getting really tired of all of the drama in this one. Thanks!
  3. Is anyone doing this? I'm using it fr a K class that meets 2 times per week and was hoping to find some tips on how others have done is. Thanks
  4. Thanks Actually we're doing American History next year and then back to Vol 1 the following yera. Since we only meet for 30 wks we're skipping the weeks about Am Hist this year, so its strictly world history. The 1st grade teacher is also new, so we're in this together. ;-) Thanks again for any ideas or suggestions.
  5. All elementary grades in our cottage school are doing this volume.
  6. I'm teaching this to a kindergarten class. Does anyone have suggestions for how to bring it down to their level? We meet twice per week and I spend one day coloring a SP from the Act. Gd. and tracing a relevant key sentence. We've been chanting the previous week's history sentences while looking at the pictures (a visual timeline) and on the other day we do the mapwork and a hands-on activity. I'm having alot of trouble with class narrations, mapwork and projects. Its been difficult to get them to see the big picture and remember the stories. I'm thinking about asking the parents to read the SOTW chapter at home (because it seems like its easier to read/ narrate with 1 or 2 children) and in-class reading one of the additional suggested history/ literature books. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
  7. This is my 4th year of kindergarten at home and here's how I do it: Ruth Beechick's 3 R's (practical, hands-on ideas) Phonogram Flashcards Bob Books Startwrite is great for handwriting practice b/c you can choose what topic you want to have them trace (or copy) AND you can use it for years. Abeka Numbers K (I use only the workbook.) If you join the SLPreschool yahoo group the owner has created a very rich lesson plan (great literature) that's available FREE. Create a language rich environment and spend the largest part of each day on Read Aloud Time (my goal is 2 hours per day ;)
  8. I have that and we like it alot, too. I guess I could also ask the parents to purchase this to help with at home memoy work. Thanks
  9. I need to teach Creative Writing to a Kindergarten class. We will meet 2 days/ week in a homeschool supplement program. Has anyone used FLL in a group setting like this? Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  10. My 9 ds is working through level4 and is giving me ALL kinds of crying and complaining over the amount of handwriting. We've been doing this one over the summer to help him get up to speed with his handwriting, but I wonder if I should let him do more of it orally? Any thoughts?
