  1. Dd used OM 4 math, a few years ago, and loved it. The book contains 36 weekly lessons. The explanations of the lessons are clear and easy to follow. Also, each lesson has just enough practice problems. We've used other math programs and the lessons contained too many practice problems. The math book also has math games for the kids play to better understand some of the concepts, dd enjoyed playing. It's a complete math program, and I highly recommend it. Asmaa
  2. Nance, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending cyber hugs to you!! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Asmaa
  3. No, I haven't. We had add things just because they were fun, and not because I felt OM lacking in anyway. Asmaa
  4. Hi, The most current edition of 2nd grade is 2010. I believe the most current for K is 2005, but I could be wrong. I would call OM and ask them. I'm using OM 2 this year, and we are enjoying ourselves. Yes, those books will work for K. OM K, over the years, hasn't change much other than color pictures. Hope this helps. Asmaa
  5. Thinking of you! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Asmaa
  6. Oh Nance, I'm so sorry! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Asmaa
  7. I also bought a globe from Target this week. It was located in their back-to-school section. I also picked up a wall map of the world for $5. Asmaa
  8. Thanks for posting this. I added it to my wish list. My kids and I have enjoyed watching Magic School Bus on and off for the past 12 years. We're very sad when PBS stopped airing them. Now I get the chance to share them with my youngest. Asmaa
  9. I have the answer key and can e-mail the answer for Test and Review 11 if you like. Please pm me if you want them. Asmaa
  10. For OM 5 we used lined paper and a binder. For drawing we used computer paper holed and place in the binder. My OM 5 had a copyright date from 2008, and in lesson 31 one of the projects is to make a timeline of the major events studied this year. There are three types of timelines for you to choose from. Dd really enjoy this project and it was great for review. We loved OM 5! Hope this helps. Asmaa
  11. You're welcome. We're going to use OM 2 in fall, and I can't wait. It looks like there are a lot of fun and interesting activities. Don't forget to check out the file section at the main yahoo page, one mom posted her schedule for the whole year. The schedule is from an older edition, you add the new assignments from the current edition. Asmaa
  12. Yes, tubeyou is a great way to learn how to knit. That's what I'm using along with a few books from my m-i-l. So far, I've only done a few rows. I found it easier to learn to knit using bulky yarn. Have fun! Asmaa
  13. Yes, you most certainly can mix-and-match OM curricula for the upper grades....not so easily done (more costly) with K-3 because it's one syllabus for all subjects. It wouldn't be a problem for you to use OM 4 core subjects and then use OM 5 math. We use OM curriculum only, and haven't used enrollment. Like the other posters have said call the office and discuss this with an enrollment counselor. Also, have you checked out the sample lessons at OM website? If not, have a look around the website is full of helpful info about their program. We've used OM for the past for 4 years with 3 children, and have been very pleased. Asmaa
  14. Yes, we're very happy with our choices this year. We've used Oak Meadow for the past three years, and love it. Asmaa (using OM 1, 6, and 8)
  15. You could begin by reading, painting, drawing, baking, playing with playdough or clay, nature walks, bird watching, doing jig-saw puzzles etc. I would make it fun and stress-free as possible. Asmaa
  16. We plan on homeschooling all the through high school. I have one child that has graduated, and 3 more to go! Asmaa
  17. Nice to see you too!!

  18. Oak Meadow has really worked out well for us...we're using 1st, 6th, and 8th grades. Asmaa
  19. We'll use OM 1 (third trimester), 6, and 8 in the fall. Asmaa
  20. Oak Meadow's Spring Sale is in May, 10% off curriculum and craft materials and 5% off enrollment. Oak Meadow also has a Seconds store at Amazon.com. The Seconds Store has older editions and slightly damage items for sale. If you call the office and ask for Crystal she can help you with the different options available to purchase materials. I used the Oak Meadow's Second Store this year and last year and our books were in near perfect condition. Hope this helps. Asmaa
