  1. Thanks for your perspective coming from an integrated program and the weaknesses there. The grass always semms greener, you know? Experience also helps us figure out what works and what advantages and disadvantages or certain methods are. Been hearing about Fix It grammar lately. I'm looking into that one!
  2. Thanks for chiming in! I think one concern with moving from program to program and textbook to textbook is that it starts to feel like just ticking boxes mid-way through. I feel guilty for not having more enchantment or delight-directed learning. I get into a rut myself, struggle to add in fun variations or 'just because we can' days, all in the name of getting through. I can't be the only one?! Thanks for letting me vent my weakness and frustration!
  3. Perfect! I will go look. I think DS11 needs more independent work, he is my child that I butt heads with. 😢 He is also very bright but not very motivated or good at time management. I am not familiar with W&R or R&S so I will go take a look at those. Thanks for your recommendations!
  4. Thanks for the link. Off to check it out! He did WWE4 last year and Spelling Workout E. He is a voracious reader and reads what he likes, I haven't assigned books for language arts. I do make my own stack of books for him at the library to help him read a wide variety of books and get some good literature in. We didn't focus much on grammar last year but previously he went through FLL 2-4. He read Story of the World 4 on his own because I wasn't ready to cover modern history with his younger siblings. He has used Saxon math throughout his homeschool years and we did Biology for the Logic Stage for science. I guess one of my concerns is that these separate programs all feel like disconnected parts. Maybe that's ok but I wonder if I am missing something by not having more of a cohesive feel. Also, I am brand new to posting a forum so hopefully I am doing it right!
  5. Hi there! I feel the need for a switch in our homeschool and maybe you can help me find what I need or we can chat about what you need! My ds11 is entering 6th grade and I need him to work more independently. I want a well rounded language arts plan but don't think I want to focus heavily on grammar. Have you used WWS level 1 somewhat independently? What did you pair it with to round out language arts? We haven't done many projects in our homeschool and I'm wondering if we are missing something. Can you reassure me and help me come up with a plan? What are you using for your 6th grader this school year?
