  1. There has to be some series that you can copy out of.... Oh wait, maybe you don't want to plagiarize. ;)
  2. Hi There, I'd love to know how a Montessori School for Upper Elementary usually looks like. Wondering if you have set curriculum available? Is it devise your own each year/week/day? I'd really love it if some of you could tell me the good and bad of Upper Elementary Classrooms..... Hope there are some Montessori Teachers on here! :)
  3. Mr Parr has some great Science youtube videos ;) I'd love a list of free memory info to download... Do we have that already?
  4. Wow, a whole post on regrets! I regret many things, but most are not appropriate for a public forum. Mostly I try to remember what I see someone else posted. I made decisions that seemed best at the time, and there's no way to do it both ways! God's redemption of situations is what keeps my sanity.....
  5. We have;) We played them when my kids were young. Nice music. I also like Dana Dirksen's music. It's Questions and Answers and uses verses... and there are ones for little kids, too. (ABC's and maybe a number one?) Her voice is pleasant and her kids compliment it. :) It'd be great to have a good thread about pleasant bible memory songs ;)
  6. Good to hear! :) And... gotta miss something about living here :)
  7. You might want to look at the NAUM model.... (University Model Schools) It's a graduated model... where kids go a bit at a time... and then a bit more as they progress.... And it'd be great to have something like the Redmond Profiency Academy in Redmond, Oregon. They have adjunct professors, so that when you graduate, you can graduate with an AA. (instead of AP courses....) :)
  8. Hi Everyone, I'm thinking of using http://www.nativeremedies.com/products/brightspark-focus-formula-1.html or something like this during the summer, to see if I can somehow regulate my son, without mainstream meds. Wondering if anyone has had success with this. He has a hard time keeping his weight up, but for sure needs meds.... and so I'm looking at alternatives. I already try for oil, and he didn't like the EO's that I tried.... I can usually get him to drink anything, so that wouldn't be a problem. Thoughts??? Experience??? Thanks!
  9. I hate the new ones... I just want the old! :( And do the new ones really have mercury? I heard that... Hmmm... sure, everyone will dispose of them properly. I thought of the mercury thing when I almost dropped the bulbs when I was changing the lights this morning.
  10. Only if I threaten him with near death. He doesn't like anything "mixed".... After he found out that French Toast had egg in it, he said he wouldn't want to eat it anymore! :( I could beat him!
  11. I'm trying to have him gain because he lost 3 weight, since his last appt. He's needing to keep his weight on, and he's on ADHD meds. I have Benecal, an organic type of Boost... But he just won't eat much. I have him take a fish oil, olive oil (he won't eat on food but will slurp it down... yuck) He eats bread that has basically been soaked in butter, and then fried in a skillet. I have him eat whole milk greek yogurt (with me basically force feeding it) He won't eat nuts... will eat peanut butter, if I encourage him with almost each bite. I've also started mixing cream in his milk and grass fed gelatin. He's in school right now, and sometimes comes home with his whole sandwich. They have 30 minutes and he prefers to talk/play, rather than eat. He will eat pancake type foods, so I mixed his Benacal with the mixture, instead of milk and then added some milk until it was the right texture. With having him eat calorie dense foods, I've barely had any room in his tummy for veggies. He is eating a half apple, and some things like a few slices of peppers. He won't use dips... FRUSTRATING! (Did I mention he was 10lbs 3oz at birth? 23 1/4 inches long) Oh yes, and now I see that you can mess them up, by adding too many calories at once. UGH.... I feel as though I'll never win!!!!
  12. Well, it's possible to feed raw for about 1/2 of that price... for you. For my 65 lb dog, he needs about 1 1/3 lb a day. So yours would need about half of what he eats (meaning a total of less than half for both of your dogs) I would then add one of the salmon oils that you can order of Amazon or purchase at a Pet Store. (You purchase one especially for dogs) That's all I feed, basically, to my dog... and have for over 5 years now. He's really healthy. You can do organ meets from poultry/and cow/lambs.. etc... except for the liver. That you want to feed in very small amounts. I almost had to put him to sleep, he was so itchy... nothing was helping him! With this diet, he has totally regulated! :)
  13. Hi There, I'm trying for high calorie, nutritious foods for my son. He's very picky, which is part of the problem. I'm trying for 2000 calories or more a day.... He's 10yrs old. Any suggestions? Thanks :)
  14. Bill commented... so did lots of other people... I need a new Coffee Machine!!!! I really want something yummy.... because it's my one addiction :)
  15. Home Inspections for all!!! Yay, Not! Wish they'd inspect the teachers who molest and abuse, as well as they want to intrude on individual homes.... :(
  16. Same as someone close to me. Many years ago she told her husband.... Couch or something fixed... Unless you want me to die.... :(
  17. Lady Comp is something that I've heard works better than the pill. If you are already use to temping, it'd be an easy switch. There's one for no babies again ever... and one for if you're trying. The no babies ever is less $$$. I have a friend who used it in real life... no babies except for when they ignored the "Don't have s*x" one... I totally understand wanting to space kids or be done. In earlier life, more children died... Look at some who had 10+ and ended up with 5 or 6..... Hugs... the church's teachings change.... I don't see this in the Bible... don't get hung up on "man's rules" when they're not in the Bible. Enjoy tradition... but Cling to God and His Word! :) I do think there's validity for most pregnancy control being unhealthy..... so for there to be something natural that works... BONUS!!! :)
  18. I'm looking for a food journal app, but I don't need the weight part. Any good ones out there?
  19. So, I'm fortunate enough that my son's new LA teacher has asked me for some ideas about curricula. She has about 10 or 11 in each grade to teach, and the class is separated, at this time. She's loving IEW and has chosen one of the them books to use. The class also has been using SRA, although perhaps they could use something else, if it's not expensive and world's better. They also have a special Montessori spelling. So, with IEW would you choose Shurley Grammar? The IEW component for Grammar? ..... Also, would you suggest that she teach both grades together if possible? Keep them apart? These kids have basic skills in writing and grammar, not really where they'd be if things had been different. Thanks for ideas!
  20. So, my son picked to write his Speech on Red Beard (Thorvard) and I can't find enough info for his 5 paragraph paper. Any ideas for good books? This is my Sunday's work.... to write this. Who have thunked that I'd be writing a paper... He can't, as it's hardly possible for him to write a couple of paragraphs. Bummer that this is due before they taught them how to do it! :( I hate teaching writing and this wasn't in my plans.... :(
  21. First, I'm looking for the article that I saw posted on Facebook about a little girl named Mary(?) who had been taken to many Drs and had bipolar. Her parents were finally told to give her probiotics and it "healed/cured" her. Any ideas or links for that article? Second, I'm looking for a few "best" probiotics, and am wanting opinions, hopefully informed opinions :) Any thoughts? :)
  22. Hi There, If I am trying to buy what's needed for a classroom, what would I need? This would be for a 4th/5th year class. They may or may not be separated. Little grammar and writing instruction, so far, but needing to test ok at the 5th grade writing tests.... Thanks!
