  2. Hi Guys, From reading WTM, I found Astronomy: The Universe at a Glance. Then Susan recommends Pearson for the electronic learning part. I am a complete newbie, apparently I need an instructor number or LMS link (Blackboard™, Canvas™, Moodle or D2L®). What on earth is that? I rang Pearson from Australia and they said I need to pay to have educator access and get the codes. (This is on top of buying the text) So is it worth it? Has anyone used the Pearson Mastering stuff with this text? I havent decided on going down this route yet. Thing is Susan is convincing that this is a very good program. How can I get an instructor code? Do the secondhand books with codes work? I am also trying to figure out how to tie it in with the GCSE curriculum on Astronomy. On the Pearson website I can buy access for a student to the Electronic Program with text for 80dollars for 18 weeks. Which sounds like alot for something that expires. See their pricing below: Single-term access $79.99 Up to 18-week access Buy access 14 day temporary access available ISBN-13: 9780136904359 Mastering Astronomy with Pearson eText for Astronomy: The Universe at a Glance Published 2020 Access details Pearson+ eTextbook with study tools Instant access once purchased Register with a Course ID, a link from your instructor or an LMS link (Blackboard™, Canvas™, Moodle or D2L®) Features Interactive digital learning experience Help when and where you need it Instant feedback on assignments Study tools
  3. Hi from Austalia! Having a bit of a **MOMENT** After maths for Grade 8. The delivery drivers are on strike here, due to COVID, so I got to thinking, is there a DIGITAL version of Maths workbook for Maths G8. Even better if its Singapore. Or Dimensions. I checked SCRIBD and theres some primary years on there, but no secondary. Online, it seems the books are sold out in many places. I can see some secondhand in US. Theres alot of Maths help in the house so the textbook is optional right now. Just to get her going with something till I can get back to normal. If you have any suggestions would love to hear thanks barb
  4. Just starting out on our IEW adventure! And going through the TWSS dvds. I am using the 1st ed TWSS. Can anyone tell me if there was alot of changes from the current ed? Also if theres ANYONE with the 1st ed I would love to know if you have pages 17-23 as the booklet I have inherited seems to be missing them. Although he does seem to talk alot, and reference the pages only occasionally to read out aloud. Would love to hear comments on your journey. I have a 7th grader. Am in Australia. Keep warm! Cheers Barb
  5. I am hoping to find someone who did Fix It! (the older version) and has a copy of the student pages. IeW is not supporting the older version anyone, but I can obtain a copy of the text. I am hoping to use it for editing practice as a supplement. I have Student Pages for Book2 (frog prince) and Book4(the king and the pea), so am after the other student pages in the series! thanks guys!
  6. Has anyone feedback on Fix it Grammar. The OLD book?

Also I checked the IEW website and they no longer support the student pages downloads, so I would be after the student pages if anyone has downloaded copy?

DD starting highschool so Year 7.

Will be doing workbook Narnia this year.

I would like my daughter to be confident with writing longer pieces and be able to self edit. She is an excellent reader and comphrehends well. But doesnt do boring busy work. The full new Fix It series looked like it might get a bit repeitive....

  7. Hi Guys Trying to get a handle on what my daughter reads: the books with the Animals with the Big Eyes make alot of appearances at my house. I know reading should be a bit hard so that you have to stretch and guess the meanings of words to expand your vocab, and I get that my daughter likes to relax with downtime, but there would have to be some really rollicking good fun books that are pitched just a bit harder than her comfort level?(so she would be drawn along by the story and improve her vocab along the way) The book,by Elizabeth Wilson, seems a bit dated and slanted to American? HIstory. I live a bit remote out here in rural Australia and could possibly order some from my local bookstore, but Im after maybe an easily accessible list of books, that have stood the test of time. For a ten year old girl. Any suggestions welcome, thanks so much barb
  8. Thanks guys, I tested her using Melissas' test and she came out at Average.Even not paying attention and yelling at me the whole time!
  9. Hello from Australia I am new to this site, so its very nice to be here! I am so grateful for the resource that SWB has given to the world, its been holding my hand for a while now, and I finally made the plunge to take responsibility for my little girl. I bought alot of textbooks recommended from Amazon. Love Amazon. The books are amazing. Now down to the nuts and bolts. I didnt get a spelling program, and I cant figure out what level my daughter, 10, is at spelling wise. It was very hard to get any meaningful communication with her school last year, and I am not sure if she struggles with some of the bigger words in particular. But shes great at pretending/throwing a fit. If I could get a hook on where she is, I could then use one of the word lists on the internet and go from there. Theres not a lot in Australia, so I end up on the net alot, ordering things which is OK. ANY help appreciated. I enjoy reading the threads they are very helpful Sincerely Barb
