  1. Not a book, but the online courses from Fenzi Dog Sport Academy are excellent. Many people that trial with their dogs and don't have a trainer near them, or have had their classes cancelled because of covid, use these. Can't recommend them enough.
  2. We have loved the Vogmasks from the beginning. My dd's family and in-laws, my ds and his family and dh and I all use them. Several of us wear them 8+ hrs. per day with no complaints.
  3. I would hesitate to make major renovations to my home for an elderly parent. Their needs can change drastically in a short amount of time. I hate to say that the money would be wasted, but their needs today may not match their needs next month, even next week. I have seen major changes in my mom in just the past few weeks that have required a quick change of plans. Assisted living was on the table just a few weeks ago, but realistically we are probably looking at a memory care unit. We have used Comfort Keepers in the past and were happy, but now they have a waiting list. Severa
  4. My parents in Indiana received their first shot yesterday, Friday, 1/15 and the staff scheduled their 2nd shot before they left. I am thrilled because they had trouble scheduling the first one online and were never able to get through on the phone.
  5. I am going through this process right now. My parents currently live in a senior villa community, basically all of the exterior maintenance is done for them. My mom is showing some signs of dementia, leaving the stove/water faucet on, questionable spending, forgetfulness, etc. My dad is healthy, but at nearly 85, it is quickly becoming overwhelming. The amount you were quoted seems about right. The company I am meeting with today quoted me $26 per hour. (I consider this a heck of a good deal for us!) Much (MUCH!) less than a memory care unit and assisted living apartment that i
  6. Yes, as Selkie stated. It means totally separate at all times. You take one dog out to train or potty, the other dog stays crated. No access to each other. I know people that make it work, but it takes extra room and time, not to mention dedication.
  7. In the German Shepherd world there is a common saying- Dogs fight for breeding rights, Bitches fight for breathing rights. The female/female aggression is a real thing for German Shepherd Dogs. There are rare exceptions, but I wouldn't take on another female unless I was prepared to crate and rotate at some point in their future. Once it happens, it can be difficult to impossible to fix. They can be fine, until they aren't. I have two GSDs right now, male and female. I had the female first and and was looking for another GSD for my SAR dog. I found, what I though
  8. Here is mine in black. I went to their site to see when I purchased it. I have had it since September, 2019. PS-My favorite is the messenger/backpack bag, I have it in 2 colors and carry it nearly every day. Edited to add-Well darn, the photo didn't show up. Anyhow, mine looks amazing after 15 months compared to that one!
  9. Duluth Trading? If so, my dd has that bag and I have it in black. It's a great bag. That bag is used, ours look nothing like that, even after a year+ of use. We have never had a problem with their customer service, have you contacted them? Really, that looks unacceptable and I can't imagine them charging a restocking fee! Between my dd, dil and I, we have a LOT of their leather purses/backpacks/wallets. They have always been great quality.
  10. This is the one we bought recently- https://www.bestbuy.com/site/honeywell-insighttm-hpa5300b-500-sq-ft-hepa-air-purifier-black-black/6412444.p?skuId=6412444&ref=212&loc=1&extStoreId=368&ref=212&loc=1&ds_rl=1260582&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-bDUv5WC7QIVksDACh2J2AIyEAQYAiABEgIWXvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Dh had a positive covid test on Tuesday and is working from home now. He needs to be in the main area of the house during the day due to internet issues. (We are rural and he can't get a good connection through wifi.) I park the purifier near him during the day
  11. Is the fact that this girl was abused by two men in another state before moving to IN. Below is a local article with some additional information- http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20111228/LOCAL07/312289983/1002/LOCAL Also, my understanding is that the girl never lived in her grandfather's trailer, she lived in a nearby trailer with her mom, step-dad, and sisters. There is a lot of blame to go around in this case. I have not posted in a long time, probably not since the new board, but have been a long time lurker. Because this happened way to close to home I felt the need
