  1. I am a young earth creationist. To me, it’s just taking every piece and part of the Bible at face value. If I start picking apart one section, what would stop me from picking apart other sections? It’s totally a faith thing for me. I know that’s not the popular belief, but I’ve never cared about being popular anyway. 😀
  2. I have a rising senior who was in public school for three years, and she is going to be homeschooled this coming year for her senior year. School House Teachers is a website that has tons of courses for high school! Most are interactive, with videos and links, and some are not - just print and go. My daughter is taking a Babylonian History course, Fashions through History (just for fun), and some electives. We haven’t decided on science, but they have so many options. There’s a yearly membership of around $200, but it literally can cover every subject! Here is the link https://schoolhouseteachers.com/dap/a/?a=93110
  3. I live in Louisiana. My kids rec baseball league canceled for the summer, and offered us a prorated refund of HALF the registration fee.
  4. Yes it does! It is a great stroller, too. Very easy to push and turn. https://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/chicco-viaro-reg-travel-system/5206497?keyword=chicco-keyfit-30-stroller-car-seat-combo this is the one I got but in gray. I love it!
  5. I got this car seat and the marching stroller for my last baby. It is a great car seat and he used it until he was 11 months old. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/3497652971263399480?q=chicco+keyfit+30&client=safari&hl=en-us&biw=414&bih=622&tbs=cat:547,pdtr0:705038|720850,vw:l,init_ar:SgeyBAQIsqkg,ss:115&prmd=sivn&sxsrf=ALeKk03nngbmvDqoBd2QrZI_uEmUSfXkYA:1590234657040&prds=epd:8699686450520361620,cdl:1,prmr:1,cs:1 I bought him this Maxi Cosi Pria 85 car seat and it’s very comfortable for him, and he will not need another one. He is 18 months old now. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/17345019596757165178?q=maxi+cosi+pria+85&client=safari&hl=en-us&biw=414&bih=622&tbs=cat:547,pdtr0:705038|1751556,vw:l,init_ar:SgeyBAQIsqkg,ss:44&prmd=svin&sxsrf=ALeKk01VHF5RPpxzd-TCTP7J_nXwygRUqw:1590234783946&prds=epd:6198740329506286830,cdl:1,prmr:1,cs:1
  6. Names my husband vetoed: Maggie Jo Zoe Kerigan Zion (for a boy)
  7. My grandmother's name was Lucille, and if I have another girl she may have Lucille as a middle name.
  8. I actually had great results selling my Rod and Staff books. I took a lot of pictures of the inside pages and outsides. I set a Buy it Now price for usually about half of what it is new, with free shipping, and sold every single item I listed. When I buy curriculum on eBay, I look for listings with lots of pictures, especially of inside pages and table of contents. I also look for Buy it Now prices with free shipping. It's simpler that way. I don't like waiting for an auction to end (although I have done it before) and I don't like calculated shipping costs.
  9. For my three kids that are IN a B and M school, I have found that they don't have much time for friends during the school day. In fact, my 15 year old daughter was just complaining to me that she doesn't have enough enough time with her friends at school. I homeschool my 8 and 6 year old boys. They play with each other really well. We don't schedule play dates with other kids. They see friends at church and they have cousins they see once a week or so. My older kids play sports, so they play with other kids when we have games and stuff. I am not worried about my 8 and 6 year old boys having "friends" right now. They have each other, their older siblings, their dad and I and various cousins. They are perfectly happy.
  10. I started yesterday with my 3rd and 1st graders. We had a doctor's appointment in the morning, and we all three have bronchitis - plus my 3rd grader has an ear infection! We came back home and finished school. Other than losing my voice, it went well. I'm very discouraged with my 1st graders handwriting and really wanting to work with him more on it. We love Saxon math so far!
  11. I'm April. Two sons are June, one July. One daughter February, one November. Baby boy due December 1. Hubby October.
  12. I guess they thought she was just nervous! My mom took her to the doctor that day as I was taking my younger son to the dentist at the same time... She tried to explain it to the nurses, and they said "Oh, honey, you will be just fine!" Now, when we go they know to have her lie down for any needlework.
  13. Rod and Staff English - I always come back to it. It is so thorough and my older kids (in public school now) are so far ahead of their classmates in grammar and writing. MFW K and 1st - love these programs. K was so much fun!
  14. My daughter has this. She fainted after having her ears pierced. She faints while throwing up sometimes. She has to lie down to have blood drawn or shots and stay down for a few minutes afterwards. She fainted after having blood work and after telling the nurses she would faint! They didn't believe her! Now they do.
  15. I am expecting my 6th, and your gift sounds wonderful. After my last two boys were born, church members brought meals for a week. It was so nice to not have that to worry about, especially having older kids who love - I mean need - to eat. Some even brought drinks and desserts, and my husband's grandmother brought snacks for the kids quite often. We had plenty of leftovers for lunches for the week, too. How about making a card that says "book of the month club" for your grandbaby (in the basket of books)? You could send or give him a new book each month for a year, or for however long you wanted to. It would be something to look forward to, and not just another pack of diapers or wipes (although it is always nice to receive diapers and wipes!). Homemade blankets and quilts are always a favorite gift for me - and I don't get very many! So I would definitely treasure that. You could always ask her if there is something she doesn't have like a swing, bouncy seat, high chair, or playmat. Oooo - you could always make the baby a playmat! A blanket with toys and ribbons and other things sewn on to it.
  16. I get both Ipsy and Birchbox. I love it! They're only $10 a month/each. I have gotten some really nice and expensive brands of makeup, skin care, shampoo, and makeup brushes. What I don't use, I pass on to my 15 year old make up obsessed daughter! She had a subscription to Ipsy for a year as a gift from her grandmother. It has expired, but she still gets quite a bit from me.
  17. Yes! I ordered about $250 worth of books from bookoutlet.com and $150 worth from abebooks.com! Plus some from eBay! Our curriculum has already come in; these are our "book basket" books - books that flesh out our science and history topics. I'm having a baby the end of November/beginning of December. Our library is not great, and I knew I would be so happy to already have these books on hand. Much easier than searching for books at the library with a newborn! So...yes! I'm eagerly awaiting for a ton of books.
  18. I found some pens with a miniature globe on top at the Dollar Tree. I'm doing treat bags for my boys as a surprise back to school party our first day. I'll add some fun pencils, erasers, stickers, candy, and maybe a small Lego set for each of them to put together.
  19. Maybe after the littles ones are in the bed, you can have a "conference hour" with your oldest to review any work, discuss any books, and give any help needed.
  20. The shoes my son wanted for school (Nike precision's) were $70 in store. They didn't have his size, so I told him I would order them. I got an email that I had a $25 credit at Zappos, and I found the shoes he wanted at Zappos for $52.50 on sale. With the $25 credit, it made the shoes less than $30 with tax. I was pretty pleased with a $40 savings! I also found two pair of Motherhood Maternity jeans at the Goodwill store for $5 each. That was my first Goodwill clothing purchase, and I'm pretty pleased! I almost ordered the same jeans for about $40 each. I found my oldest daughter's Adidas backpack at Marshall's for $35. The exact same one was on sale at Kohl's for $49. My youngest daughter also got an Adidas backpack for $25. The exact same one was at Kohl's for $40. I also got an Adidas duffle bag for my daughter for $17 at Marshall's. I've had quite a bit of luck at Marshall's for name brand items the past month or so. Maybe not toally frugal, but I was happy with it all.
  21. The kids and I are in the New Testament at night - currently finishing up Galatians. I'm in 1 Samuel in my morning quiet time.
