DH's cardiologist, who is not a quack, who works at the big hospital in town, who has been DH's heart doctor for years, wants DH to have a chest x-ray to look at his heart. To do that, he wants DH to GO BACK TO THE FREAKING ER!!! DH said no, been there twice, I have a job, you need to figure out a better way. I mean, what?? Shouldn't a cardiologist at a hospital be able to order tests in a timely enough fashion that he doesn't need to rely on the ER for quick tests?? I'm so confused by this whole system.

We ended up back in the ER tonight because DH is having numbness on both sides now and very cold extremities. It was really freaking him out. They said it wouldn't be a stroke since it is both sides, and it wouldn't be any kind of disc issue because he doesn't have weakness. We're to see a neurologist next week. On a very related note, DH has decided that life is too short to live in a fixer-upper so it looks like we're putting the house on the market.

I really try to not buy books. We all have e-readers, we have a great library, I never re-read books. I was gifted a $20 B&N gift card. I finally decided on a cookbook I want. It is $19.77 on their site and the same price on Amazon. It is available for pick-up at my local store. Great! I get there and it is $30 at the store and they do not price match their website. I can order it off their site for the $19.77 but I have pay shipping or spend another $5 to get free shipping. I have Amazon Prime so why would I do that? I didn't buy the book. Wth do I do with this $20 gc that doesn't feel like waste?

Why do they go bad so much faster than other store's veggies??

I was watching a weight loss video and the woman said H2Orange was one of her main weight loss strategies. I've never heard of this so I googled. Basically, it is one part good orange juice to 7 parts water. You drink it all morning. The theory is that it keeps your blood sugar steady so you don't crash and eat everything in sight. It also keeps you hydrated because you're drinking 32 oz before you eat. I can see this being helpful if you are overweight due to overeating or due to eating terrible things like cereal. It might not be so handy for someone like me with metobolic issues. But i might try it for funsies. Anyone else drink this? According to my google search, it is pretty popular.

Omg, Dh is in the hospital. He threw his back out about a week ago. The doctor gave him a steroid shot and some pills. Today the left side of his body started going numb. The doctor can't see him until next week, sent him to the ER. ER was concerned he is having a stroke (I'm not really concerned about that) did a bunch of tests. He hasn't talked to a doctor yet but they took my info and checked him into a room. Wth?!? And all I can think of is how shitty our current insurance is and how much will this cost.

Thoughts?? Will Dany believe them? Hey, I had a vision and the throne isn't yours! What is going to happen there? Pretty predictable episode. I didn't think the girls were getting played by Littlefinger, we all knew Cersai wasn't going to help them, everyone knew the wall was coming down. So, meh. But not terrible.

When we moved in, there was a box of old, red tiles in the storage room. The box said "asbestos tiles". There was a line of the tiles in the storage room but we thought, no biggie, we'll leave them alone, it is just the storage room. Today, I got a wild hair and pulled up a corner of the nasty, blue carpet in the basement. Apparently, the whole basement is this red, asbestos tile with nasty blue carpet glued to it. What are my options besides 1. live with nasty, blue carpet or 2. remove the carpet and glue but die of cancer?? Also, there is vermiculite in the attic which could also have asbestos.

We need to put a new floor in our basement. Epoxy looks cool but might be outside our time limits and skill level.

This isn't about schools. I love the schools my kids attend. This is about general ideas about health. Our state is really cracking down on food in schools. We're no longer allowed to bring in food for parties. School lunches have been revamped, all the way down to the advertising we're allowed to accept. I look at the list of approved foods and...ugh. Granola bars, various crackers, yogurt (Go Gurts), Lara bars (nut free), fruit and veg (but store bought only due to allergens), bagels, string cheese. Nuts aren't on the list. Eggs and jerky aren't on the list. Lunch meat isn't on the list. My kids will happily eat most of the approved snacks but I would never call them healthy. I think keeping kids blood sugar sky high all day, every day, is setting them up for a lifetime of weight and health issues. Am I crazy?

I remember when I was a kid and it was a big deal when it was over a million. I know that, statistically, winning the lottery equals ruination, and I'm not planning on buying a ticket, but it sure is fun to think about all the good a person could do with that kind of money.

It is starting to get very Mommy-warish. "I would never let my Precious stare at the sun! They are staying home from school and sitting in the basement all day!" "How can you let your child miss a once in a lifetime event?" "I called our optometrist, who is a genius and does all the President's eye work, and he says it is fine." "Well, six kids from my high school went blind after a lunar eclipse so we're not rising it!" This is why we can't have nice things.

Am I off base here?? We have a local diy art place where you pay money, do a craft. They host parties and fundraisers (give back a certain percentage of the sales). On FB, our scout leader posts "night at diy art place to raise funds for my dd's dance education" (I would never go to this kind of thing as a fundraiser). We then get an email that the troop is having an art night to get a patch. Same place, time, cost. So, leader is having the troop at her dd's fundraiser. I won't say anything and we'll go because my DD loves this kind of thing but it isn't right, right??

Is there a list of social groups anywhere? Surely you guys talk about GoT somewhere here??? I need in!
