  1. In the Footsteps of Genghis Khan Love travel books and this was really a great adventure.
  2. Working on handwriting because it looks so much prettier to write things myself in the new journal. Also working on learning the Korean language just because.
  3. Word groups for me. 2017--Bright, positive and happy (everything I took in had to fit these words. Books, music, TV shows, etc. even social media I eliminated anything I could that came up in my timeline that didn't work toward these words) 2018--Positive balance and peace (continuing from last year but working on balance and towards peace in relationships and activities)
  4. I've been using one for over a year now. I actually started one at the beginning of the last school year because I realized that my old methods weren't going to work at keeping up with our schedule and routines. I used a composition notebook and then one with graphs. I picked up a Leuchtturm 1917 recently and have started setting up the new year in it. Big advice: Make it work for you. Make it what you need it to be. What it is for me/how I set things up: I have a key and I color code days of the week and activities (work, school, errands, etc.) Love having a collection of pens because I use them to do color themes for my weeks to match the washi tape. Generally each set of pages has 3-4 color scheme I use. Key--first page Table of contents--usually tracking groups of pages and I often don't fill it out Words/focus of the year Future log--18 months to keep track of upcoming important dates & appointments Mood tracker--new for me but I thought it would be fun & helpful Health trackers--weight & period since we're entering that time of life Important numbers & info Goals Then I start my quarterly pages which include: a 4-month calendar to keep track of dates books read list Movies and TV shows list Playlist--songs that I'm listening to a lot as I enter this period Meal idea list Then my monthlies/weeklies: Month pages featuring a calendar, habit tracker, show tracker and to-do list Weekly pages featuring to-do list and time tracker for each day, menu space, and a quote to keep me positive that week And 2 blank pages for anything that comes up during that month that I need to make note of. Back of my planner: Need to buy/repairs list Chore routines Watch lists tracker to see which streaming sites I use most Eating out list by $ amount It's worked very well for me over the last year and I was happy using the "cheap" notebooks to figure out my system and what I would really keep up with. I don't take it with me everywhere. I do check it in the mornings and the evenings. I generally have it set up for 2 months at a time while working on a 3rd month. I write appointments in pencil then a week before (usually on Thursday mornings) I fill out the upcoming week in pen and highlight my time. Hope you find your groove.
  5. Self-care for 2018: drink water eat healthier as we eliminate wheat, yeast and sugars from the diet exercise spend time alone with my brain each day have at least 1 at home day a week for our mental health
  6. Balance. I need more balance in our lives. When we're over busy I get stressed and things don't get done and we end up getting sick. So a balance between activities and rest, work and home, school and downtime, etc. My intention is to work towards more balance in our lives.
  7. I don't know. I don't think I have anything new I want to start doing. Just things that I've been working on.Maybe more focus on balance in my life.
  8. Last year was Bright, Happy and Positive. This year is Positive Balance. I need to work on making my life more balanced again.
  9. Drinking soda especially when stressed. I think I'm finally over it.
  10. I think I'm good. I've got one book I want to buy for next semester & a new purse (mine is wearing out). Some Christmas gifts to finish and cleaning to do. Otherwise it's all good.
  11. Eliminated soda from my diet. Knitting every day. These were the big ones that I accomplished. I have several other things I'm tracking but didn't always do so well with.
  12. Going with the bullet journal. It has really helped me to get my life in order. I keep track of my time, things we need, gift lists, and lots of things that are important.
  13. Thanksgiving. I realized that something had to give and it would be work. Time with my family and launching them with the proper skills to succeed is more important to a few extra hours at work. In 3 years, once everyone has graduated I can give more time but not now.
  14. I perfected chicken broth, chocolate chip cookies and figured out a lot of things about making the bullet journal work for me.
  15. I got derailed in June through Thanksgiving in most of what I was working on. But I did achieve some things: 1. I quit drinking soda and it doesn't sound good anymore and doesn't really taste good except strawberry but that's hard to find. Next up is reductions in sugar, flour and processed foods. 2. I was able to get some areas of the house cleaned out. Still working on my decluttering goals though.
  16. Updating my wardrobe. I feel much better about myself and how I look.
  17. Kids in high school at home and I work part-time. (By the way, elementary school age is the best time. In the jr. high/high school years activities ramp up and you feel like you live in your car.) Part-time work is up to 20 hours a week but usually around 15 hours. Me time is 2 hours in the morning (14 hours a week) to wake-up, eat breakfast, check my messages/social media, check my bujo and spend some time centering myself (usually knitting, watching something I enjoy that no one else likes, listening to music, etc.) School including outside classes, extra things, seat-work and planning each week is 20 to 30 hours of my time. (This does include travel time, working with my kids on projects like sewing or meeting up with friends.) Housework including cleaning, everyday chores, meals, etc. is another 10 hours a week. I sleep on average 8-9 hours at night. We do about 20 hours a week of family time (that's about 3 hours a night on average). There is about 20 hours a week unaccounted for but it's probably time spent doing things for other people(finding stuff, helping someone with something, etc.) or in self-care tasks like showering, brushing teeth, eating, etc. I feel exhausted most of the time but that's why my quiet time and self-care is so important.
  18. is my daughter's new friend. I'm happy that my daughters have been making new friends at the local library including one girl who really tries hard to get lots of the kids to come and interact with one another. It's nice to have such a caring accepting girl come into their lives and show them friendship.
  19. Staying positive. I worked really hard at this this past year. I went through all my social media and eliminated anything negative or that made me feel bad. I tried to only take in books, movies and music that was positive and happy to keep me in that mood. Whenever I started to feel depression or sadness taking over, I would put on my happy music. It was very hard at times to tell people that I didn't want to talk about certain topics because I found them depressing. But I did it. I had a really, really good year.
  20. Teaching my youngest daughter how to sew and helping her make new clothes. Talking with my older daughter and listening to the music she enjoys.
  21. This year I focused on being positive and taking in things that made me feel happy and positive.
