  1. Shopping goes like this: Kroger--matching coupons and sales, meat & dairy Aldis--fresh foods, boxed, canned and treats (chips or something to make us feel less poor) Walmart--anything I can't buy elsewhere cheaper (personal care, pet food, goldfish crackers, frozen pizza, cleaning & paper supplies) Save-a-lot--a special place for cheap treats like ice cream bars and nacho cheese sauce Rural King--supplies for rabbits and chickens Dollar tree--during the bad year we got our cleaning supplies here It's a lot of work to shop so many places but I take one day every two weeks to do it.
  2. We've worked really hard to transform our home into an oasis in the city. It is my happy place. Surrounded by gardens, the house is made to be peaceful, happy and relaxing. A shelter from the world. I also really like the beach. Just laying in a chair reading a book all day while shaded from the sun.
  3. I think it's also helpful to keep the math skills up so that he does well in his required math class for university.
  4. Not unreasonable. Usually it's one hour a week and someone watches the little ones of anyone doing their time..
  5. We also chose to invite family that lived far away and knew they wouldn't attend because we wanted them to feel included, thought about and loved. They all seemed to appreciate that. We also got to chat with several of them which was a really nice way to catch up since with many of them it's been years since we last saw them. Send the invites.
  6. So scary. I feel so bad for the people there. When we were looking at property in that exact area they said it had been 700 years since it did this and probably wouldn't happen again. They were wrong and I'm so glad we got cold feet and didn't sell everything and move. There really isn't anywhere to go on the island except north. There is one road that takes you around the entire island to the west is where all the smoke is blowing. I hope they are able to keep everyone safe.
  7. I just have one ringtone. "I Wish" by FTIsland. The opening guitar riffs get everyone's attention thinking it's a song in Spanish but then they get confused when the lyrics are in Korean.
  8. 1 slice of toast made with sesame seed sprouted grain bread butter on that turkey bacon a fried egg I picked up from the chickens out back salted washed down with cold water
  9. Will be down to my last one. She'll be 10/11th and is talking about going to college for Asian studies now. The plan: Earth science w/lab American Literature (with concentration on Native American Literature) Continuing East Asian Literature (mainly myths but will start to dabble in great books here) American History (with concentration on Native American culture and history) Continuing East Asian History Integrated Geometry/Algebra I and II Violin Art and art history Writing and publishing her first story Korean or maybe back to Japanese (depends on if the co-op we joined decides to offer it)
  10. I've never: pumped my own gas lit a match or a lighter smoked got a tattoo Probably more things. I have fears and am kind of boring sometimes.
  11. Rabbit hair is a constant thing. It's everywhere and it's like a non-stop to keep it clean. I think a lot depends on the breed. Our mini-rex didn't shed as much as the rabbits we have now but they shed constantly.
  12. If you do dispose of them they are considered a health hazard and need to be disposed of as medical waste. At least that's what the dentist told us. She pulled most of my kid's teeth and said the state wouldn't allow her to give them to the children for that reason.
  13. If you're doing sauerkraut then it's generally chop up the cabbage add a certain ratio of salt. Mix it. Then pack it in something so that the liquid rises above the cabbage. Let it sit and skim the scum off the top each day for 3 to 6 weeks or longer and then pack it into mason jars and can. There are directions in the Ball canning book for this. Now, if you're trying to make Kim-chi then you'll need to get a good recipe and follow it exactly.
  14. I got most of my patterns from the Drops website. I mainly just went through the Christmas Workshop. Knitted them up in Cascade 220 on size 4 needles and then threw them in the washer & dryer & then ironed them flat.
  15. 1--create a positive balance in my life that is peaceful 2--work on eliminating sugar and flour from my diet and replacing them with better options 3--start working on doing physical activity for exercise 4--get my oldest graduated and ready for the world
  16. I want to start making felted hot pads for Christmas presents next month so that I'm not rushing around doing them all in the last 2 weeks before Christmas like this year. Also, would like to set up a weaving project of some sort to work on and start working on spinning again.
  17. As a homeschooler: graduate my oldest and get her on a steady path for adulthood work with my youngest to be ready for the world in 2 1/2 to 3 years Work wise: let it go Not my circus, not my monkies And take these to heart so I can have more balance and things don't bother me as much.
  18. Thai teen/young adult shows. They're super cheesy, cute and have fun stories. I find them on youtube at GMMTV. I watch them with my daughter and we have a fun time with the stories and characters.
  19. I wouldn't mind joining in. I'd like to be better at working on my Korean skills regularly.
