  2. Explode the Code and Words Their Way Victory Drill Book is good for getting speed up in reading.
  3. Why not just let her keep going at her own pace for now? If at the end before algebra, she's still half a year ahead, maybe you could just fill in with something then. Maybe then she could take a little consumer math, or start Algebra on her own in an easy curriculum like Developmental Mathematics or Life of Fred.
  4. If Explode the Code seems to be enough work for your 1st grader, it's fine to just use it for 1st grade. If you think your first grader would have time for Spelling You See and enjoy it, it might be a good idea to go ahead and let the 1st grader get used to the program.
  5. Another story style history is Gueber's Histories from Nothing New Press.There is seven books in the series. They can be used with various age groups.

  7. If you can't find a way to enjoy it, forget it, or find an enjoyable curriculum. He might not even need it. If forgetting it isn't a desirable option find a curriculum you like. Maybe you would like the student textbook from Risas y Sonrisas. Another place that has Spanish is whistlefritz. Or you could buy a Spanish phrase book and make flashcards, and play a game.
  8. It's great when learning can be as enjoyable as possible. So what ever good curriculum that keeps the interest and enjoyment up is great.
  9. Maybe substitute with 2 or 3 big picture books with lots of stories, if that would please him. Example: 120 Bible Stories; Golden Books collection etc.

  11. Jolly Phonics Finger Phonics is colorful and has motions to go with the sounds. Reading Pathways is a good book. There is also A Beginning Advantage readers called A Reason for Guided Reading. A lot of them are Bible story based readers. Abeka Basic Phonics Readers set

  14. He could use a colored pencil when ever the long vowel sound is made by a vowel couple. That way he can remember it's not a word ending in e, because he had colored it. Maybe Words Their Way would be of interest.
  15. If you have all that stuff in your morning time, have good quality math and spelling programs, have Bible time, and let them continue to read in their spare time; you should have a fairly rounded course.
  16. Audio Visual Drawing Program's Drawing Textbook is really good.
  17. You might like Dr. Fry's Spelling Book. He keeps things simple and yet includes phonics. He uses the words in phrases or sentences the student can write or say. If you would like DVDs, Sequential Spelling has DVDs. Abeka spelling and Christian Liberty spelling have less work than some spelling curriculums.
  18. You could play word games together like Scrabble.

Maybe you like Bedell Curriculum for Science and Social Studies, and skipping anything you don't want to teach; or Weaver from Alpha Omega and just not worry about all the extra books, unless you want. Then there is Adventures in U.S. History from My Father's World. Another curriculum is Winter Promise. God's Design For Science from Answers in Genesis. There is Language Lessons from Queen Homeschool Supplies. You could get a Bible story book or read the stories directly out of the Bible.
  20. Maybe just a bunch of books that interest him and let him have a time to talk about what he learns. He could have a notebook where he writes notes of things that stand out to him or he wants to remember.
  21. Don't worry about it he's pretty young.
  22. You could count each extra credit problem, the same as 2 to 10 problems, depending on how important you count the problem. You actually can use any method you want since your the teacher.
